    You did a REALLY good job! It looks so nice.....don't listen to anyone criticize. People for some reason always have to find something wrong with someone else's work. As a wife I would be so happy my husband did this for me. Good job.

    You did a pretty good job! But for anyone else doing this, use a facemask and gloves while cutting the marble. You can get silicosis from the dust! There's no cure for this, some people might not have much trouble but others might!

    If you just get the adhesive protection you peel off and use as a stencil against outlet would be faster then measuring.

    Great job. How do the extenders for the sockets work?

  • @jamessurname2285
    @jamessurname2285 Před rokem +3

    I would cut out the outlet holes much smaller so the tabs stop on the tile face. Yes, it means turning off power and loosening them from the box but much better to have sockets that don’t push in when you insert an appliance. You can use plastic or rubber hose over the outlet screw but nothing is better than an outlet that stops on the wall surface whether it be drywall or tiles.

    how much soap and water to use for the misting?

  • @modelchickny
    @modelchickny Před rokem +1

    The peel backsplash looks great. What was the purpose of using soap and water on the back of the tile before applying the wall? Was it to make the adhesive tacky? I did not understand that part. Also if the peel and stick tile were to be removed, would the removal tear up the dry wall? Thanks for the safety tips and detailed instructions, as I may attempt to do this project.

    • @karinandlarryathome8711
      @karinandlarryathome8711  Před rokem +9

      Misting the adhesive with soapy water gives you a little time to adjust the tile’s position before it sticks to the wall. The soapy water temporarily counteracts the tiles adhesive. I am told removal of the tile will not damage the wall. I did watch a CZcams video on this, suggest you do the same. Take care and good luck.

    Why people remove the oven is beyond me. Who is going to climb on the counter and stick their head in there to see if the tiles cover the entire space?

    • @karinandlarryathome8711
      @karinandlarryathome8711  Před rokem +1

      I agree, but the stove has to come out for the installation.

    • @Itsme-vo4fx
      @Itsme-vo4fx Před rokem +2

      The reason you should always fully tile behind the stove is that you may not always have this specific stove. Different stoves reveal different parts of the wall behind them.

      @@Itsme-vo4fx That’s true, but my house is all electric. I have never seen an electric oven with all the controls on the front below the cooking surface. And besides, remodeling is for the new owner, not me.

    Define “home owner”. Of the farm channels I watch where one tractor is more than your net worth, I have not seen one yet that frets over the backsplash in their kitchen…

    • @timthomson7532
      @timthomson7532 Před rokem

      I’m sure the “farm channels” you watch have nothing to do with tractors or net worth

      What?????

    • @corykelly7691
      @corykelly7691 Před rokem

      I have never heard anyone that communicates with the verbiage (frets, farm channels & net worth for a diy project) all in one sentence as part of their “normal” language. Homeowner simply means they own their home...as do you own or rent your trailer space. And one more thing, the “tractors” add net worth to most empires.

    • @timthomson7532
      @timthomson7532 Před rokem

      Maybe he was watching Yellowstone and considered it a farm channel. You know they don’t fret over backsplash’s, just backslashes, backfires and back turnings 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @quietsignal
    @quietsignal Před rokem

    One of the most horrendous DIY projects on YT. Just look at the closeups of the final results…wow! Buy a dremel…lol. Pull the oven…no big deal…rip out the anti-tip feature from the wall and have a nice conversation starter on the four foot witness scratches on the floor…no big deal, just replace the floor. All this for STICK ON tile that will fall off with changes in temp and exposure to cleaners..can buy mortar, grout, and cutter for under $100, that area $85 at most. The stupidest thing is the cardboard on the sheets is already pre measured. Put the card against the wall cut the outlet opening with knife, snapper, done.

    Dude haha, your kiding me right??? You litterly had a template already made right in your hand... hint* the wall socket cover=template. Trace that socket cover over your adhesive sticker on the back side of the tile. Then measure the distance to the bottom of the tile your about to install to the bottom of the wall socket cover. You can make templates out of cardboard to for any angles or objects.
