- Today we are comparing EA SPORTS PGA TOUR vs PGA TOUR 2K23 using the Same Course, Same Professional Golfer, Same Difficulty.
This is just a video for you to see both games side by side in action. I personally enjoy both of these games, so it's something for the general public to see what they prefer.
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR VS PGA TOUR 2K23 could be a rivalry for years to come. They both have different strengths and different weaknesses. None are perfect, none are terrible. There 2 very good golf games and even though you might be picky, saying they need this or that. That's not how it works it's a couple small to medium sized teams doing their best.

Have both. Early days with EA, but it seems much better. And of course, EA are miles ahead graphics wise.
golf games are really underatted. the physics alone make them incredible too play.
2k look’s definitely faster paced. But honestly EA’s looks more realistic with how your ball reacts to certain shots on the green. I’m actually glad I bought EA instead
I’ve played both and EA PGA Tour is just so much nicer. Now the swing is a issue for me but the game all around is just beautiful.
I’ve noticed as long as you’re within 0.5% in overswing and tempo in the forward swing then it seems to go where i’ve put the aim thing.
yeah 2k23 was very meh, I used to love the ol tiger woods ea games and was super dissapointed they stopped making them. Rory wasnt good, TGC 2019 was good, since 2k took it over, tgc has suffered a bit.
When playing career mode in either can u have playing partners, even if it’s just their ball tracers?
Yep.. I got 1 lucky rollback eagle on EA.. But had many chip shot eagles on 2k23....ohhh also had 1 lycky hole in 1 on brandon dunes course on EA on a changed projectory off the edge of a bunker

Have both and just got through my first round. The game looks amazing minus some character weirdness. Which brings me to the character creation in the game. It’s pretty weak. I hope EA updates it to be more comprehensive. I really like creating my character. I miss Game Face even though it was a pain when it actually worked.

EA needs to fix the putting issue. On the first hole, the green was breaking right all the way to the hole. I noticed that problem on other videos as well.
I agree, if you get the same putt again and you will just try and remember it and go against it for now.
@@BookTheWin But you don't have that problem with 2k23. The putts play true to the break.
I played WGT for 10 years and over time we had to memorize how certain putts would break like on Whistler. Maybe that is something they will fix.
@@Qbal8 I've played over 500 hours of 2k23 I'm well aware, but it happens maybe once in a round, they are apparently working on fixing that. So it's a short term concern.

Part 2??? now that consoles have 60 fps and also the textures have been lowered on that 60 fps mode so I’d be interested to see how those 2 compare with each other now
its funny FIFA is my main game and i complain how it never changes yet i have just got EA PGA Tour 23 and i am so happy that its basically just Tiger Woods 2005 on PS2, love it haha
Not a fan of the slow back swing on PGA Tour, but maybe I'm just used to 2K23
I think the perfect is in between both games. I'm loving the just hold it back and rip it compared to worrying about a very fast duff. But ya I was thinking about this a lot today, I switched back to 2k and it seemed hyper fast, I think it's just something to get used to.

Im a long time player of golf games, since the 90s. I loved tiger woods 09-14 and was dissapointed EA stopped making games, Rory 2015 was a disaster. TGC 2019 was a pretty good game, I think since 2k bought it it got worse. The swinging is very inconsistent in 2k23, even if its smoother right now. I love the new shot types and the more dynamic content of EA, and anyone who thinsk 2k23 is better I think should level up their golfer a bit and still see if they feel the same way. TGC 2019 was good, pga 2k21 and 2lk23 were just not as good as they could have been, and I want to love every golf game. The graphics on EAs game are way better and im certain theyll find a way to fix the latency, good thing golf is not a game where it has as much impact .
Im not a fan of either company, but EA's game is definitely more fun and the variety in the game is enough to overcome the slight video latency issues, im looking forward to improvements
I feel the same way. I was a bit reluctant to dive into the EA game but the 2k23 games just weren't doing it for me. Ultimately I'm really glad I finally got EA's game, because its revived my interest in golf videogames again, since the Tiger Woods games. I think EA's game can only get better from here too. Hopefully they stick with it for a couple of years and just refine it into the perfect game, offer up some courses in a DLC to keep the cashflow positive etc.
I gotta say I love EA PGA tour, if you raise the difficulty it finally makes a dynamic golf game. If you shank a shot it's actually your fault, commentary is on point too. I'm playing on a 13900 4090 PC so
I can't speak to the 30 fps a lot of people seem to hate as the performance is fine. I will say if you are playing on a LG OLED at least on PC, the Dolby Vision crash it BS. I had to connect my PC to a tv that doesn't have Dolby Vision, disable HDR, then re-connect to my LG to get the game to even launch, that is a massive fail on EA's part.
I had the exact same problem, I ended up disabling HDR on the game from my computer monitor before switching back to my C1.
Exact same Dolby vision issue on LG Oled flex also with 4090 and 13900k
EA: True next-gen experience on all platforms including PC. Really fun. Great career mode. More immersive, feels like you’re really there playing golf. More potential if it gets proper updates and content.
2K: Feels last-gen so dated, but has more social features for playing with friends, cross-play, doubles co-op. Take turns multiplayer modes. Better character creator and customization.
30 fps is nowhere near to a true next-gen experience

@@19noble94 30 fps looks horrible on a large OLED TV. I'd choose 1440p at 60 fps over 4K at 30 fps every single time.
As someone who enjoys golf games casually I massively massively prefer 2K. Been playing since November 2022 and love it, the game feels very nice and smooth on PS5 alongside the roster of golfers being great too (besides characters like John Cena for some reason). I played a decent bit of EA Golf via the trial through GamePass and I honestly just don’t like it. Even with the new 60fps patch it feels very clunky to me and the roster of golfers is a lot worse in my opinion. The graphics in EA however do look like some of the best I’ve ever seen in a game with it being exclusive to next gen and PC.
2k 22 was decent they seemed to have fucked the physics up in 2k23 jst never seemed consistent to me

Why would EA release this on PC and not include mouse/keyboard support. SMH. Guess I'm waiting for that and for a big time sale. Seems very expensive for what I have seen... especially when some of us will have to buy a controller as well. EA not everyone has or can use a controller. Great video by the way. Thx!
ya hope they add mouse/keyboard support they did add 3 click however so you don't need a controller for that I believe.
EA has 2k when it comes to the physicals off the ball, you can see it bumping and running through the grass in the fairway and rough. That’s always amazing to see in a video game. 2k ball physics looks like the ball is rolling on a smooth service. 2k at the moment is winning because of the playability and golf range, but 2k has been out longer. When EA fix all the bugs and add a golf range it might overtake 2k.
bingo... the animations for the player you give it to EA for playability and fun I go with 2k for now. I may switch back

For anyone wondering. I started playing this game on PC which is connected to a 42-in LG C2 TV. It would not work at all. So I hooked up my regular computer monitor and it works like a dream. The graphics are amazing

I've got it running on my 65" C1 not a problem at all, though I did have some issues with HDR so I turned that off.
I prefer 2k23, better options including crossplay
EA looks like meaty deeper ( slower) sim.
The strange thing with 2k is that the women are playing in the same tour as the men. Makes no sense.

Early but quite a few glitches. I've hit a couple imaginary trees. The green readings are off on some holes. Match play shows all square after every hole.
Menus are a mess
Hardly any difference in lies between heavy rough and fairways.

Not much of an improvement from 2k21
They had a better customization experience and more clothing/ equipment options readily available in prior games.
The announcers and overall presentation is weak. 2k does a lot with its hoops game. I expect more.
I've had many controller issues on 2k21 and 2k23 where the shot timing is way off which makes the game unplayable at times and very frustrating. Have to turn swing timing off when it does that, but the swing timing is the best part of the game when it's working correctly.
EA is better and a lot more fun BUT if 2k steps up their presentation and improves on some of their things they have great potential to deliver the better game!

I thought I was the only one who experienced the controller and swing not in sync. Too many times I swing and it says very slow...I speed up my swing and it gets slower.
@23_UNC Yeah, it's frustrating. I did the calibration too many times on 2k21 and the game really became unplayable without turning swing timing off. Afraid to use calibration on 2k23. Most of the time if I quit the game and restart it's fine. Still a pain though.
@@ghtraining1 Ive done swing calibration several times and nothing worked. Had to adjust difficulty for it to be somewhat consistent. Because like you...did like turning off swing timing
@@ghtraining1 Instead of quitting the game and restarting I quickly take batteries in and out of controller. Became a routine every online match or round take batteries out before I hit first tee shot on pga tour2k23 and back in and it worked.
Glad you did that video because I was going to just get 2 k because it’s cheaper but ea definitely looks and sounds a lot better.

That's crazy. I commented on Apexhound's video yesterday that someone should make a video like this. I even said Pebble Beach. Anyway, I didn't think I would say this but it looks like EA is better in every way. Better career mode, better graphics, better swing mechanics, even the sound is better.

@The Esquire of Sports ® I think he means the swings look more realistic on EA PGA. Also the swing speed are more representative of the actual speed that the pro golfers make in real life. The game play is not broken in EA, it is just different. You don't control back swing speed directly but try to generate the proper forward swing tempo. Whereas with 2K sports you have direct control on backswing and forward swing and try to match the tempo. While 2K gives you more direct control it still looks incorrect in the graphics compared to real life speed of backswings. I think EA is actually a lot more fun to play once you get used to the different swing mechanics.
The biggest issue with EA at the moment for me are the errors in the green beads. It really sucks when you have an important put to save par or take the lead in a tournament when the ball breaks exactly opposite of the dip indicated by the terrain beads on the green. I do kind of like the randomness of the shot that EA has compared to 2K. In 2K you can pretty much calculate the exact shot response with a little experience. Making it easy to shoot sub 60 rounds. In EA, there is still enough randomness to a shot that it won't exactly land in the same spot twice even if you hit it exactly the same. To me this adds to some of the frustration that exists in real life golf and keeps you coming back to get that perfect shot.

Its really weird. Shops don't even know it exists and pull out the 2k23 game instead. I bought it on Steam in the sales.

I can’t get over the unrealistic swing on EA. 2K is fun and challenging. But it’s a money grab. More so than nba2k which is surprising. TakeTwo has a long track record of making superior sports games.
For me, EA just doesn't feel like golf. Looks great but some big issues:
*30fps on console
*awkward to preview landing area at times
*swing is not 1:1, horrible lag / guesswork
*ball doesn't run properly on greens
*putt camera angle poor after putt hit
All that glitters is not gold.

I’m having fun with PGA 2k23. That graphics aren’t as good as EA but they aren’t horrible either. I was expecting them to be bad with the way ppl have been trashing the graphics but when I bought the deluxe on sale , I said yeah I’m buying it and I’ve been loving it so far.
Only thing that was a downer for me was that I can’t play as Michael Jordan in career mode. I’m not big into online so that was a bummer for me.

One of the reasons people are against the graphics is they used the same graphics engine as 2k21. They were hoping 23 would have improved graphics. I agree I have no issues with 2k23 graphics.
@@BookTheWin oh ok, then that makes sense. I have 2k21 but I never actually played it. I’m new to golf games. So when I got 21, I was like idk if I’m actually gonna play this. I ended up forgetting I even had the game. When 23 came out, I said “alright this looks good. I think imma give it a shot” and I fell in love with it. I didn’t know it was running off the same engine of 21. Maybe not that EA has outdone them, maybe 2k will step it up next year

They’re both good but EA is just better and has more to offer. Seems more realistic, graphics are better, more courses and pro golfers. It’s a really good game and is only gonna get better after updates. I heard well be getting 60 frames per second later. Character creator is not the best but not a big deal to me. Love it.

It stutters like crazy, I read that a lot before I bought it and thought probably their PC my PC is easily going to run it... nope. It stutters on a 3080. I'm just disappointed because I loved the older ones but 2k took the market and done it better. It is what it is.
@@georges9760 I guess in more about graphics and game play. I like 2k also but the career mode in ea is also better. The daily tourneys are cool also. My character looks kinda like Aaron Rodgers who is my fav qb, so I’m happy.
If 2k had EA's graphics it would be a perfect game. That fact it takes so long to play a hole in EA is mind blowing. In my opinion, 2k is far better. The course creator allows for unlimited new courses
Ea pga seems like for the casual gamer experience, 2k23 has so many Layers and depths.

i play in 1440p with an old r7 3800x and a msi 3060ti at 65-72 on max settings. dunno what crap others have on their systems to slow them down so much ... smh

I think 2K23 looks better. EA’s game looks too colour saturated and the player’s face is farcical. The clincher for me is 2K’s course designer, which I use more than I play.

I agree on the color, not sure why they saturated it beyond how any grass would look. I prefer the colors of 2k23 definitely.

Have both, Ea animations look like they haven't played the game in their life. Graphics look better but that follow camera is awful. More licences tho. 2k is my favourite, graphics not as good but animations better. Could do with more licenced tournaments & commentary can be annoying when Rich beam goes off on one. Anyway happy Golfing. Sidenote I used to love Ea golf games this is the 1st I haven't but both games battling will only make them better

The courses and environments look nicer on EA, but the swing looks clunkier and that doesn't really look like Xander. I probably prefer 2k because of its pick up and play smooth swing mechanic. The sheer variety of courses as well is a bonus.
2k23 is for the kids who buy nba 2k every year and have no idea how to play golf
The physics in PGA Tour just seem very off to me. Definitely looks better than 2K, but 2k just feels more natural and less janky if that makes sense.
I agree on that untill you actually level up your golfer to around 80+ ovr and add legendary specs to your clubs. The game changed immensely for me atleast. It feels now like a total different game in a way that i lost interest in 2K after havin hundreds of hours into it. The swing is better in EA and way more consistent. I loved pga2k but now i prefer pga ea .

im not sure what platform your playing on if its an old platform or if your game recording is really crap but both those examples looked awful. Ive played both, and personally I prefer the look of the ea game (never thought id be saying that about an ea game), but they both look a million miles better than what youve just shown.
Playing on Xbox Series S and recording is probably 720p.
I don’t think I could go back to 2k at this point, it looks so dated by comparison. EA getting the Augusta license doesn’t hurt their cause, fuck “Magnolia”.

EA has the graphics and sound quality way better but the 2K is easier to play for beginner golf players.. the EA is more realistic but could use a faster back swing graphic
Ea sports pga tour is too easy. Only putting is hard. In pga 2k23 u have the legend difficulty and if that is not hard enough for u, play with character named TRENT and u can see how hard this game can truly be😂.
Listening to others who have compared the EA and 2K games, 2K's sounds more geared towards online gaming and PVP, while EA's offering is more SP inclined. Listening to you play, the sounds are definitely better on the EA game, it sounds much more like striking the ball with great force, rather than a generic 'whack'
There definitely is a ton of sp content in EA.

Both look like arcade games. Straight down every fairway and straight down every pin… I hate both camera angle’s were you fly through the air after the ball. Golf is about seeing the ball flight and landing area from the golfers perspective. Last great golf simulation was Links 2003. It’s sad
2k looks and feels better
this comparison shouldn't be made yet, as PGA Tour 2k23 has been out much longer. EA Sports literally just dropped and its buggy and hasn't had time to release more content to the game and patches.
Even with the current bugs, the EA game is lot better for me. There is so much more to do. The problem with 2K is that once you play the tour a few times and go thru a round of challenges with rivals, you are basically done. Everything after that is just repeating the same thing over and over.
Where as EA has a very comprehensive career mode that has a full progression of your career from amateur to pro. You have hundreds of challenges, daily, weekly, and special tournaments all of which are great for the solo player. You can also play all the courses as your favorite pro or play alongside your favorite pro for head to head challenges. It is just so much more immersive for a solo player.
Really 2K is boring for a solo player after about a month. You can max out your character, shoot every round sub 60, win every Fedex cup tournament and win every match against every rival multiple times all in about 3 - 4 weeks. EA for a solo player has way more to offer and you can play new content in different ways as a different pro or player for what looks to be a very long time and not get bored.

Guys... There is no comparaison to have... I get both games and if EA has better graphic, it's the only thing better on it...
If you want better graphic buy EA game, but if you want better golf game buy 2K one.
It's more smooth on 2K, cameras are better on 2K, there is more uncertainty shoots on EA.
You have a practice mode on 2K, it's incredible that EA don't propose a practice for a golf game. There is more explication for beginners on 2K.

It’s the same old pointless comparisons tbh. It was the same with pro evolution soccer and FIFA. Who honestly cares which one is better. It’s always down to personal opinion. Play and buy the one you like and enjoy it.
Played 2k21 and 2k23 ALOT, love the game, recently just bought EA and it’s a whole different feel. Much more authentic, I am a career mode guy and EA career and presentation is MUCH better. The pace of EA sports is slow though but not enough to not be fun. I give 2k23 an B and EA a A
