- I got to test and review the Brand New Zoom Polygon Exhaust System! Maybe the first one in the US! For sound comparison purposes, I compare it to the industries best: The Yoshimura RS-2.
Visit the Zoom Exhaust Store here: zoom-exhaust.ecwid.com/

yoshimura is SO much better sounding, nice that its quieter but damn that yoshimura sounds 👌 in comparison
I agree the yoshi sounds a little better under load at full throttle, but its too loud for me personally. You get what you pay for, it costs $250 more than the Zoom, you know? Thanks for commenting!
@@CTGromer My Yosh cost $1500. 😥 I couldn’t resist ordering the new limited full titanium dual RS-9T dual exhaust.
Brother I love how you keep pride on that Grom so clean!!! Lot of guys get their Groms for dirt and they never wash them and keep'em all ratchet 🤦🏻♂️
I appreciate that you notice! a clapped or ratchet-ass grom is unacceptable! it's bad ambassador-ship for groms. There are clapped-out groms here in our local squad let me tell you.
@@CTGromer I know right! 😅 This new generation of ratchet half ass job done guys kills me man 🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣
Weird - I like the Zoom exhaust sound better at low rpm, and Yoshi at high rpm. Thank you for the great video 🙏 - I just subscribed to your channel few days ago and now I am interested to get a mini bike.
I completely agree! The Zoom sounds amazing when cruising, and is overall quieter. Thank you so much for subscribing, and I'm truly glad you're enjoying the content! You'll have to let me know if you ever get a grom!
Hey, greetings from the sunny UK!! I've just ordered one of these off the back of YOUR review, so cheers :-)
In fact, yours was the ONLY review of the Zoom Polygon I could find ANYWHERE on the web, so it's a bit of a leap of faith lol!!!!
I was split between the Yoshi RS-2 at £550, the Yoshi R-77 at £480, and the Zoom Polygon at £260 (UK) I'm a big-un, so spend most of my time on the MSX125 (Grom) at WOT...so don't want it to be stupid loud (had an SV1000 back in the 2000's with twin MTC exhausts, and that would set car alarms off going past lol...and the Grom currently shares the garage with a kawa 1400GTR - or Concours 14 as you guys and gals across the pond would say - with Black Widow end can...which sounds sweet, but not obnoxious) so been there, done that with the loud pipes thing, and as I suffer from a bit of tinnitus from years of biking, and also keep reading reviews, seeing CZcams vids etc.. that the Yoshi is just too loud for some folk, I wanted something not too loud, to pair with a cam, high comp piston, intake and fuel controller for a bit more zip
The cost of the Zoom allowed me to afford the other bits combined, all for what the cost of the Yoshi RS-2 would have been on its own, bonus!! If I remember and can be arsed, once I've got it all installed and some high speed runs completed, I will post an update!
Also, If it helps, for anyone reading this, at approx 285lbs, 6ft tall and broad shouldered, on a stock grom sf, I can get about 55mph on the flat with a bit of a head wind...have managed about 65 indicated downhill so far, and all using 95 octane fuel (in the uk 95 is the lowest octane you can find, 98 and 99 are considered 'super unleaded')! Oh, and also, the Grom is probably the most fun bike I've had the pleasure of riding, and that includes all sorts that I have owned or ridden over the past 20 years, from a cheap Chinese 125, to vfr1200's, bmw r1150r's, zzr's, cbr600rr's, etc!! As much as I love the 1400GTR, it now feels like piloting the star ship Enterprise after riding the Grom, cant emphasise enough how much fun these little bikes are!
Anyway, ride safe!
Cheers!!!
All sorts of good info here, thank you for sharing! I can tell you the Yoshi is honestly a bit too loud for me, and without the baffle in its unbearable without earplugs. The Zoom Polygon is significantly quieter but still gives you some respectable tone. Let me know how you like adding intake, CAM etc. I've found all those items to provide a significant increase in power. Enjoy!
Another cool vid mate
Enjoy the Grom life guys
I'm very glad you're enjoying the content, thanks so much for commenting! Grom life, for life!
Fab video really Enjoyed the drive by sound test thank you 👍
I'm really glad you enjoyed it and found value--thanks so much for watching!
I'm gonna be honest, love the star wars paper towel🔥🙌
Glad you gotta kick out of it man, you never know whats gonna make someones day! Thanks for commenting and watching bro.
love ur vids man!!
I really appreciate it, thank you for taking the time to comment that!
Another great video. You should get a DB killer and try it on your Yoshi.
What's up Ryan, thanks for always commenting and supporting on the videos brother, thanks for sending me the link for that DB killer as well!
The pitch of the two pipes is definitely different. I prefer the deeper pitch of the Zoom. What about access to the oil drain plug? Great info.
I too prefer the tone of the Zoom! Access to the drain bolt easy with the pipe, don't need to remove it. Thanks for commenting!
Nice video... So will the yoshi can fit the zoom header? Or get the yoshi header coated... Keep it coming and ride safe...
No, unfortunately they wont fit opposite the way you're describing without significant modification. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting, means a lot!
Hey thanks for the good instruction on repairing the GROM. I’m trying to do my first oil change and I’m having a problem with a bolt on my GROM not coming loose. It is the 19 mm bolt on the foot pegs above the exhaust. The bolt is spinning when I try to take the night off and I don’t know how that can happen. Any help I would appreciate it.
It sounds like you're talking about one of two bolts attaching the rearsets. The top bolt on the rearset if turned on just one side will spin because it needs to be held in place on the other side. Both the nut and the bolt need to be secured to break it loose. While you're twisting that large bolt (it also attaches the swingarm to the frame) check the other side and see if the nut is spinning freely. Hope this helps without seeing it!
Good video. I kinda like Yosh. I have a Big Gun up pipe. If I had a down pipe it would be Smashed!!!! But its loud.
How do you like your Big Gun?! Thanks for always commenting and supporting the channel! :)
The way it mounts with a metal band around the muffler instantly killed it for me
A lot of the budget exhausts do it this way
@@CTGromer Yeah I get that, but this is their most expensive exhaust. Their cheapest exhaust has a proper mount.
CT, what are your thoughts on the Zoom Brute? I went that direction over the other Zooms, mainly because it was all chrome. Where do rank the Brute in terms of sound with the other Zooms?
The Zoom Brute is a great exhaust system! I think the Brute is probably the best sounding system they make, its just a little polarizing because its a true undermounted exhaust with a trumpet looking tip. People either like the look or they don't. A couple of guys in our local group run them, and I really like the way they look and sound. I haven't heard one with all baffles removed, but with baffles in they have a nice balanced tone, not too loud. For the money, I think Zoom exhausts in general are where its at!
So, how much louder is it than stock? I enjoy how quiet the Grom is, and I’m looking for something that the neighbors still wouldn’t hear me coming and going on...
This is the right muffler for you then... it gives it some growl but HALF as loud as the AR exhaust or the yoshi.
Nothing beats yoshi
In certain aspects like build quality, most power produced, and best tone under load at full throttle, I agree! Thanks for commenting!
Got a 2017 Grom last week and want to add exhaust first. Which one do you recommend other than yoshi, don't wanna spend the $500. I Want sound and power. I like them to be loud as possible cause "loud pipes save lives" lol. Straight exhaust or the loop, high or low mount, I just don't know which one to buy. I love your videos and now that i'm a grom brother, i'm sure I will be watching more. TIA for your help.
For the money, the Zoom Looped exhaust is a good grab, an M4 is a good option as well. I understand not wanting to spend almost $600 for an exhaust! Let me know what you end up getting.
@@CTGromer im having a issue finding the looped one, but thats the one i will go with. What is the difference? The extra length of the tube give it more backpressure?
Great video! Yoshi for the win though 😁
Agreed! The Yosh sounds better under load at full throttle for sure!
Out of curiosity would there be any benefit to sealing the parts of exhaust where they attach together and you put the springs on
I don't think so, and it would also be harder to uninstall later.
What map did you use on the power commander 5, when you had the gen 1 zoom exhaust I have a grom set up gen 1 zoom and I used the yoshi map
I didn't have the PC5 when I was running the gen 1 Zoom, I was all stock at the time except the exhaust. However, I'd just guess and check. Throw a map in, ride it around, see what you get. You'll feel that some are better than others, and all are WAY safer from an AFR standpoint than running no correction and being super lean!
its killing me how much I want a grom cant get my motorcycle license right now though. Clawson has some pretty good deals on them now too
Oh I bet, so your local? That's awesome man! Why can't you get your M1?
@@CTGromer Just waiting for the dmvs to open to get my m1. I ended up getting a plated wr250f that I'm going to convert to supermoto.
Hey CT Gromer. Im from europe and im deciding to get the Zoom Polygon. Do you still recommend getting it? Afterwards im getting the air intake and ECU! Thanks.
I definitely recommend it. It's a great pipe, especially in its price range.
Yoshi is the way
Agreed! It seems to create more power, and sounds better at high RPM at full throttle for sure!
can you put the yoshi muffler on the zoom mid and header?
Not without some serious fabrication, you cannot.
Love your videos I’m not to far hopefully one day we can meet
Come out and ride man!
Question how do i know which one to pick from new Honda 125 f or Honda 125. I have a new 2019 Honda
Good question. You want to "SF" version. The SF groms are produced from 2017-present.
That Yoshimura header pipe is tuned using sound-wave pulse and heat expansion- scavenging technology. The end that bolts to the head starts out smaller for a few centimeters then steps bigger creating the sound pulse witch is perfectly timed to bonce back into the exhaust port. This and the way it continues to enlarge before reaching the silencer all add up and make the Yoshimura exhaust a legit performer. I know the sound of your bike is important but I think most of that depends on the silencer. Anyway cool video fellow Gromer!
I'm gonna have to look into all that, didn't know that. But I do know there's a reason the Yoshi costs what it costs. Its clear that a serious amount of R&D went into creating that exhaust for the grom. I appreciate all the info and the comment!
Sorry! Man Yoshimura gets the win!! Take out the spark arrester on the zoom loop and then it’ll sound close to the same!! Oh !!! And much better running please do it with the Spark arrester in
I don't think there's anyway to actually take the spark arrestor out! I think the exhaust is set that way. Personally, I like that it's quieter, the Yoshi kills my ears on long rides. Thanks for commenting!
すみません @ 1:30 The newspaper is written in Japanese. It even says Tokyo 2020 smack in the middle, not Thailand!
Can you read Japanese? I can't so I don't know. I assumed that was an article written about the olympics. This pipe came from Zoom, which is in Thailand. Thanks for commenting!
CT Gromer そうですね!I can read one of the Japanese alphabets called Hiragana. I have a 2015 Grom with an RS-9 Yoshimura. Love the videos !
TOCE IS THE WAY TO GO !!! TOCE exhaust
Maybe I'll get the opportunity to review one some day, I've seen them in videos--no one around here has one so I've never heard one in real life. Do you have one? Thanks for commenting!
Would you say someone that is 5'11 and around 270lbs wouldd be comfortable on a grom for just spitting around town/countryside and offroad riding or nah?
With the right seat, absolutely. I wouldn't take it offroad, but it will do fine around town with you on it! Thanks for commenting!
CT Gromer would you not take it off-road for suspension reasons? Thanks for the response by the way!
@@TipsyDoughGaming Yes suspension, super small rims that dont absorb extreme terrain well, and underpowered for offroad and climbing hills with loose terrain. They just weren't designed for it. However, you might look into a Trail 90 or CT90. Thats the grom engine in a small bike designed for offroad.
CT Gromer oh okay awesome thank you so much for your input!! I’ll let ya know what one I decide on!
Do you use any high temp silicone when installing your exhaust system?
No, I don't. Where would you use it?
CT Gromer I recently purchased an FMF header and pipe for my Dual Sport and it instructs you to put some where the header attaches to the cylinder and where the pipe and header attach. But if you don’t have any leaks I wouldn’t worry about it.
I think it sounded better with no cam upgrade. Either way it's great for the price.
no doubt, its the perfect amount of loudness, most aftermarket exhausts are way too loud.
I take the "best looking stunted grom in fresno" to heart and it hurts! Lol
LOL! Yours is most patriotic, and coaches award!
Think this is worth it for a grom clone?
I'm a big proponent of getting high quality japanese bikes and paying the extra. Long term they will just stand up to more abuse and be a more reliable motorcycle. I'm just not a fan of the cheap chinese parts and motorcycles, again thats just me. buy once cry once.
@@CTGromer yes I'm trying to trade it for a older name brand asap but cant stand the stock exhaust
Nice 😎
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks for commenting!
".... thailand current events" clearly says 'Tokyo 2020' on the news paper. Lol
There was an article about the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the newspaper that came from Thailand, yes. Thanks for commenting
Do u live in Santa Barbara
No, Fresno, CA!
I personally like the zoom better. Yoshi sounds raspy. I too am not fond of loud pipes on small bikes.
I'm a big fan myself. The Zoom Polygon is significantly quieter than most aftermarket grom exhausts. I have to wear earplugs with my yoshi.
Wanna sell one? I need an exhaust for mine...
I may do a give away in the future, but right now its Christian's exhaust, thanks for commenting!
Yoshi.
They both sounded good, but I will agree with you that at full throttle underload the yoshi sounds a little better! and it better sound a little better--it's $250 more than the zoom! Thanks for commenting!
Zoom sounds waaay better then yoshi!
I like the lower tone
I'm a fan of the Zooms for sure! Best budget exhaust out there I think
I like the zoom sound better
I do too, the Yoshi is SO loud. I have to wear earplugs when I ride.
Zoom sounds great, likewise, not a fan of the yoshi! Thanks.
Nice bike but I would drag that exhaust system and grind it into the pavement.
Yikes, why would you do that?
@@CTGromer I like to lay the bike in the corners and the pegs are already becoming pretty well ground down so I thing your exhaust would not work for the way I like riding as I think it would be in the way.
Anything that doesn't weigh 15lbs like the stock setup lol
Whole heartedly agree. Anything flows better and saves weight over stock! Thanks for commenting!
I have a theory that you actually like loud exhausts but the hoa doesnt
My heart likes it loud, my ears and HOA doesn't! Hahahaha.
definetly does not look better then the yoshi sorry budd
We all have our opinions bud :) thanks for commenting!
