For his debut album, From Hell I Rise, due out May 17 on Reigning Phoenix Music, King, on guitar, enlisted drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer), bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), Phil Demmel (formerly Machine Head) on guitar, and vocalist Mark Osegueda (Death Angel). Working with producer Josh Wilbur (Korn, Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, Bad Religion), the vast bulk of King’s solo album was recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles.. My autographed (Kerry & Jeff), battle jacket from the Hell Awaits tour is long gone, my fucking hair is falling out, and old age ravages me for sins of the past. It is spiritual and peaceful hearing Kerry continue to play . Keep it up buddy because the silent majority of your longtime fans are right there with you man.🤘

I absolutely admire the passion and loyalty Kerry has for his music. This thrash veteran icon is going to be 60 years old this year and he is still playing his guitar like he did when he was a kid growing up in California. Ive always loved these guitars in music, its the foundation of what drew me to the genre.

It's so refreshing to hear a heavy opening riff that doesn't give way to soft picking and cheesy sweet ass melodic singing for the verse. Begins brutal, stays brutal and ends brutal.
This is almost like seasons in the abyss style. I just can't get over how close that guy sounds like tom. It's like we ordered a slayer song off temu.
Officially, it's Kerry King's debut solo album; but this is a thrash supergroup.
I'm just glad Mark's in the band. He's one of the best metal vocalists out there... The song was better than expected, i'm looking forward to hear the rest.

I guess one of the perks of being a guitarist in band as legendary as Slayer is that you get to know all the best metal musicians, and they will jump at the chance to work with you. Awesome song, and the lineup is incredible.

You are a trouble maker aren't you. If you were my neighbour we'd have Issues. I'm a metal head Yes.. But do I want to hear anything from my fellow neighbours.. I live in a unit complex.. The answer is No. I have great sympathy and empathy for your neighbour that they have to "Put up" with you. I wouldn't be tolerating you. Get some headphones. Audio Technica M50's.. That way you Won't disturb your neighbour. The amount of neighbour grief I've been through in the last 12 months is ridiculous. People just can't seem to behave themselves. But I sorted a couple of them out. My Ex neighbour now.. Across the way. His balcony faced our balcony and he was a public nuisance. I wrote him a note.. My special notes.. Out lining all his faults and the things I did not like about him.. Which was everything. He did not like that very much. A few days later he called the cops on me. The Nerve of him. But I told the cops a few things just to shut them up. Four weeks later he up and left. That was one of the best days we'd had here in a long time.. My note had worked. Our new neighbour across the way.. Very conservative family. No loud noises. Their peak period for making noise in between 5pm and 7:30 pm... And they make very little of it. By 10pm all their lights are out. They are wonderful.
Get the Audio Technica heaphones.. You will find they are better than open speaker and you won't annoy your neighbour. People are not meant to live close to each other. I grew up in a house where anything went.. That was in the 80's 90's. A different time. In regard of this new song. It's ok.. But I would have done the chorus differently. Not sure about the singer.. We'll actually.. It's obvious Kerry King wanted a younger sounding version of Araya.

This was overdue. Mark's work with Death Angel is legendary but this is over the top. He sounds FANTASTIC here! I'm stoked to listen to the rest of the album! Kerry King is picking up where he left off with Slayer. The future of hard, heavy, and brutal thrash metal will be just fine, to all those whom were having their concerns.

Hell yeah. Thanks liquid metal for playing this, on Easter Sunday no less. Never would have known of it otherwise. My mother used to always say that idle hands are the devil's workshop when i was younger back in the 80s.. i always thought she came up with that, guess not lol
Not sure why there's so many complaints about this sounding like Slayer, and being "nothing new"... For one thing, it's practically impossible to be truly unique sounding these days, and also, Kerry has been very open about the fact that he only knows how to write "Slayer music". Love him or hate him, with Kerry, what you see is what you get. There's no pretentions with him whatsoever.
Me, I didn't love the song at first, but it has grown on me massively after a few plays. The mid-section riff especially (that appears again at the end before Kerry's solo), is the kind of riff that seems to be uniquely Slayer sounding, it's an iconic sound. And getting Mark on board just sealed the deal for me, cant wait for the whole album!
The only part I disagree with is " it´s practically impossible to be truly unique sounding these days", in every era of music that thought was thought to be true, but I agree with everything else, plus, Kerry is part Slayer, Slayer is part Kerry King, he is not trying to sound like Slayer, he is part Slayer, so that will be natural, and still I think this song has its own new touch to it, it doesn´t sound like he was trying to copy or sound a certain way, it´s a genuine artistic expression.
I guess like they say, do what you know but eh it just doesn't have any spark to it. The only thing interesting in my opinion is a new vocalist. Otherwise yeah it does sound like generic slayer. Almost sounds lazy to me.
It’s what he likes to do, and it’s his business. If people don’t like it, then don’t listen to it. I don’t know why Slayer fans would complain about this. If he did something completely different, people would complain about that too, and call him a sell out. At least he’s staying true to who he is. He’s even said many times that he wasn’t ready for Slayer to be done, and he had a lot of material for a potential new Slayer album. Consider it the next generation. The lineup is killer!
I kind of figured it would sound like that. Kerry King said that one reason he didn’t take part in the Big Four jam sessions back in 2011 was that he wasn’t particularly good at jamming.
No complaints from me, though. Evile has been quiet for a while, so “true thrash” fans deserve something that “sounds like the old stuff”

I knew what to expect from Kerry King in terms of song writing and sound. However, I had a little doubt when I had heard the singer was Mark. I love Death Angel and I love Mark as a singer. I just was not able to put Mark's singing and Kerry King's possible sound together. I was right about my expectations about Kerry King's sound. And I was sooooo wrong about not thinking Mark together with it. This is a total killer song and sound. This sounds as if they have been making music together for 2 decades. I'm so excited about this. Great music, great vocals complementing each other. I hope the band comes to Istanbul on their European tour.
There's a bit of Death Angel's sound that crept into the main riffs. Shows that Kerry isn't too proud to play to the strengths of the available tools.
