Hell, Fire And Damnation is an album which sees Saxon investigate all areas of history and mystery amidst ten of their most confident and thunderously powerful songs yet. In “Madame Guillotine”, lead singer and founding member Biff Byford, chooses to give voice to the infamous torturing device, best known for its use in the French Revolution between 1789 and 1799.
“Both this and the title track songs are written by me and Brian actually, and this is very ‘Saxon’, so much as I don’t think anybody else could pull that off,” comments Byford. “I sung it as if the guillotine is a person, that the actual guillotine has a bit of a conscience. I love the groove, it’s got a great groove!”

I just saw Saxon at The Temple Live in Wichita Kansas May 25, 2024 with Uriah Heep. It too was a superb concert. Great tour.

Them and Judas Priest are both impressive right now. It seems there is a wave of these 80's bands making a comeback. I know Priest started in the 70's and it's possible Saxon did too. I also see that Accept has a new one and Priest offshoot KK's Priest as well.

@@davidmccourt8174 It was a long tine ago no doubt, but the real forefathers are late 60's.Ten years earlier. Led Zeppelin 1 was 1969, Black Sabbath's first record was either 69or 70. And people always sat Deep Purple too as a founding heavy metal band. The are called the Unholy Trinity, Sabbath, Zeppelin and Deep Purple.
Saxon and the rest were the New Wave of British heavy metal, but the forefathers are a little older. Judas Priest started with a label deal I think back in 74 the album Rocka Rolla, has the distortion sound heavy.
Heard a track from this album on Radio Caroline and was completely blown away. I had'nt bought a vinyl album for 30 years but after hearing Hell, Fire and Damnation I ordered it on coloured vinyl straight away without even owning a record player (got one now). I've not seen Saxon live for a very long time (1990 Mildenhall Rock & Blues festival) but I'll be looking to put that right soon. Saxon have produced something really special here and I raise my glass to them.

While I'm against using AI in art I've gotta say that this is the best usage of AI in music videos I saw by far, because what is presented here mostly makes sense while you are reading the lyrics and it's not just some random bs like in that last GN'R video. It's not great, but of course, the music is! I always loved Saxon

Just saw Saxon at Tampa's Hard Rock Event Center (with Uriah Heep). They gave an incredible performance and played this song. I was very impressed by the musicianship and singing. I never paid much attention to them in the past, but I became a fan yesterday.
