My father was a set constructor at Universal Studios for this show. A few other fun Emergency! FYIs - the person who played the dispatcher was the actual LAFD dispatcher at the time. Station 51 was really Station 127 off of Alameda St in Carson, CA. Its gone now. Most of station scenes were actually filmed at the station and the engine was an active fire engine. They would place a magnetic sticker that said "51" over the "127" on the truck. The rescue unit was owned by the studio. It was still being used by the studio as a maintenance truck in the 80s when my dad retired. Most of the equipment used by the paramedics was real and was given to the film and TV section of the Smithsonian Institute. In honor of the TV show, the fire station at Universal was renamed to "51" and the LAFD donated the engine used in the show to the studio. It was still active in the late 90s. Long before NCIS, one of Mark Harmon's first roles was on Emergency! as an LA Animal Control officer that is called in to help with an escaped tiger. It was a backdoor pilot to a series Harmon was supposed to star in that never took off.

All very fun facts! It's very interesting to get into the history of a show, especially one as influential as Emergency!
I believe there is a museum in LA that has most of the cars and engines used on set, including the ambulance that was crashed. I went to Universal in the late 90s and saw the set of Emergency! in person. Emma happened across the photo a few days after she bought the series.

Greetings from Australia...I'm just giving you a like on this for buying the whole series of this great show. 👍
Dragnet, Adam-12 and Emergency! were all created for TV by Jack Webb...hence the connection between the shows. There was an Emergency! board game which my family had when I was a kid back in the 1970s.
