- Hello guys thanks for checking out my video ! Hopefully this helps my Californians out trying to mount a Holosun 407/ 507k on to their California compliant Smith and Wesson M&P 9 shields , or any other 9mm shield 1.0 , 2.0 , maybe even shield plus !
Part number for slide is # 3015613
Size for the screws you will need is : 6-32 1/2
Thanks for all the info I ended up getting the eps carry for the shield and the screws provided luckily actually fit but I did buy the screws you suggested ahead of time so at least I have spares 😂

Elian, Excellent and concise video. I got excited after watching it and digging on your setup, knowing that I wanted to go "Optics" on my Gen 1 Shield .40. Unfortunately I contacted S&W and they only make "optics ready slides" for the 9mm. I really don't want to go "aftermarket" because they want you to go with "suppressor height sights" I want to keep the "dovetail sights" and prefer the 1/3 lower co-witness!
Thank you ! And yeah only for 9mm , my brother has a .40 Shield and tbh it’s not very fun to shoot. I went with the 9mm it’s actually fun to shoot, I feel like the .40 smacked me in the palm too much to have fun shooting it. The 9mm set up with the red dot is a cheat code. Sooo much fun to shoot.
Thanks for this info. I was looking at options from other manufacturers but I like buying a product made by S&W. I had a similar failure after testing some of my HYVE +2 mags and my original mags with TAC Wolf extensions. The failure was with the stock 7 round mag with the TAC wolf extensions. I was using the Winchester white box 9mm ammo when it happened so it may not be your new slide and optic. So I put that mag aside. Now I’m using the HYVE +2 and the 8 round S&W mag with TAC wolf extension and so far so good.
I’m ordering my S&W optic slide and Holosun as I type. I just bought the TLR-6 with laser a month ago but oh well.

Those hyve Extensions are great I have them on my larger 40 caliber shield OEM mags so I have 8+1 now. I love my shield so much. want to add the mag guts and see if I can get 9+1 and stay as reliable.

Did they send u the screw how long did it take for them to send em out ?
6-32 1/2. 6 is the diameter. 32 is the pitch or threads per inch and 1/2 is the length, 1/2 an inch.

I was always an iron sight guy… I used to think I didn’t need a red dot , but then I tried it out and I will never go back ! It’s a cheat code and the future of handguns !

Did you have anymore malfunctions? Looks like it co-witnessed like it should without the adapter plate raising it up.

The malfunctions could be caused by the ammo. I just experienced problems using that ammo (winchester white box 9mm) with guns that are very reliable, including a shield. Thanks for making this as it is very helpful!!!
Yeah I was thinking it was ammo related because I’ve never had a malfunction with this weapon , and your welcome! Hopefully it helps people out , I haven’t been able to find any videos about this slide on CZcams so hopefully more people see this !

Lol bought the same combo and did the same amount of research until I called the store and they told me those OEM screws never fit. Wish I saw this vid before 😅. Great video brother

So I got my 507K today and I went to the Hardware store with the slide and tried the screws, but for some reason they would not keep threading down. It would go a few turns with some resistance and then come to a full stop even when the holes go all the way through the slide. I even had one of the guys there with me for like 20mins going through several different sizes besides the 6-32 size just to see and nothing. What's funny is the Ace Hardware even had a Gun screw section which was pretty cool, but none that fit mine. I don't know what's up with it, but I called Holosun today and they right away said oh yeah its a special type of screw and they said we'll ship them out for you for free. He took my info just like that. This was a mission. Lol. Great video and informative still. Thanks.

This video is old but VERY HELPFUL I fell for that CT rds and it SUCKS. The brightness is horrible and probably only good for a nerf gun fr. Now to find the right screws🤞I’m going to try and mount the 407k.

The APEX trigger and the mag guts +2 extension with the same exact set up you have is a game changer.
How’s the APEX trigger safety wise ? I’ve never been Into messing with triggers on carry guns but I might consider it cause the stock wall on the shield trigger is pretty stiff
It’s just fine. Have it installed on two shields. Ran it through multiple rounds, holster draws, and the safety works just fine on it. If you don’t feel comfortable installing yourself, just find a S&W armorer or gun smith to do it for you. Shouldn’t cost more than $50

Hey brother I went with a 40. Picking it up today. So excited. Going to just carry my glock if i want to use my dot and a light. Gonna keep this shield completely oem. Ca has made me peranoid to carry my glock with all the goodies. They really dont want us to change much on our firearms. Especially triggers barrels internals. It is going on my ccw so its gonna stay oem i decided.
The shield .40 is an absolute animal ! My brother had one and it hurt both of our hands lol. But it’s definitely a good carry piece !
@@elianbatista337 Ive carried and shot it basically exclusively for the entire time of owned it. 500+ rounds and three days of practice before I was really confident I could hit with it effectively and confidently. Shes a snapper for sure. Ive completely stopped looking at sub compacts and micro compacts because I will never replace this shield. Unless I have to, then it would be the same gun but the performance center.

@@elianbatista337 I do have a G2c that I really like but my Glock and my shield just feel more quality. Never had an issue with the Taurus though. I just prefer my shield. Any experience with the G2c or similar?

Yeah the flat ones would definitely sit flush , I but the rounded ones worked so I just used those lol and now that I look at them I kinda like the way they look compared to my flat ones on my other optics
Thanks for the info. I just picked up the new slide and will be ordering the 507K. I couldn't help but notice while at the range that when you reload your slide, release engaged. I know there are plenty of videos of fixes, but I was wondering if you had to "modify" the slide lock. Thanks for the info.

Hello I was reading up on the slide since it’s a 2.0 slide some people said that the slide wouldn’t lock back because of the notch is different of the 1.0 and 2.0 looks like in the video your slide locked back
My slide locks back perfectly , while I lock it manually and when firing on the last round
How many rounds do you have through it? Ive heard of the screws that come with a sight (I know yours aren't the og screws) will break and your expensive sight hits the dirt far away. I'm just skeptical of some randomly bought screws from Ace Hardware.
So far I have about 800 rounds through it now with no issues , I also marked them to see if they back out at all and they haven’t yet. But we’ll see how it holds up after more ! And yeah that’s understandable !
Does the slide not need the adapter plate anymore like in the other videos on CZcams? I’ve seen others buy an adapter plate to mount the holosun. Did they change the slide mounting?
I think they must have changed the footprint , because mine was direct mount it surprised me too , all the other optics ready shields I’ve seen needed plates as well !

It's really cool slide, but if you use this slide in california, won't your handgun not be in compliance since it doesn't have a chamber indicator anymore?
My understanding is that they need those features to sold in the state, but you can do your own gunsmithing and modify your own weapons. Sort of like how you can have an off roster handgun that doesn’t have any of those features
@Elian, I have the same slide and the 407k model, have you noticed any small gap/space between the bottom base of the optic and the slide or does it sit flush front to back?

It sits very flush for me , there is maybe 1mm or less of gap at the rear but it’s locked into the recoil lugs and I’ve fired about 800 rounds so far with no movement or loosening and it’s held zero perfectly. Mind sending your ig and you we can swap pics ?

Yes! You can use the irons through the window , but I did notice the irons on the slide were not zeroed properly so you might want to check them if you get the slide , mine were shooting about 3 inches right

No issues so far ! Only about 1100 rounds in at this time but so far so good, marked them and they haven’t backed out at all !

Hey man question for you, is there any cowitness for your irons on this setup? I’m thinking about getting a milled slide and 507k to match but I would ideally like to have 1/3 cowitness with my irons. Does having the milled slide allowing the 507k to sit lower on the slide allow you to be able to cowitness your iron sights through the glass on the 507k?
I’ve never handled a slide that has been milled the only one I’ve seen is the factory smith and Wesson slide that I have , and the stock irons cowitness with this slide at about maybe a 1/5 , but I noticed my irons are not zeroed properly after zeroing my dot

I have the same slide with the 507k. The 507k does not sit completely flat. When I put it up to the light I can see a small gap between the slide and the 507k. I tried 3 different 507k’s and it’s the same thing. I’m assuming my slide was not milled flat. Just wondering if you noticed the same thing on yours?
Your slides optic cut must be out of spec, mine is completely flat to the slide. There’s a little bit of gap in the rear but the dot sits flat to the slide with no gap
@@elianbatista337 yeah I figured it was probably out of spec. I’ve ran it quite a bit and it holds zero. It’s not causing any issues other than bothering my OCD. It really is a good combo. I guess I’ll just have to deal with it. Thanks for the quick response.

Did the slide come with all the internals or did you have to buy it separately. Ie channel liner.
It came with all the Internals besides the barrel and guide rod!
Its so confusing! I have the Shield Plus Optics ready, this version requires a plate for Holosun. However, the shield optics ready, not the PLUS doesn't need a plate and direct mount. In fact, its a different pattern! I called SMITH Wesson today she said yes i need plate for my PLUS! kinda of sucks!

As far as I know, no it is not illegal. And yes it is about a lower 1/5 cowitness you can still use the irons through the optic

I got my slide milled for ccw but my department said I “removed a safety feature” so they didn’t want to let me ccw it. Hella lame some I’m using a dovetail mount.

@FJ4X420 Yes ! The screws that came with the slide were maybe 1/8th of an inch , they need to be 1/2 inch

Which Ace hardware store in Stockton did you find the screws at? I went to Outdoors Sportsman in Stockton and got my Slide. They had three in stock which was surprising.

@@EdsTechReview that’s the ones I got, it’s definitely a snug fit but it should work fine , If they were too big you would know for sure . Another viewer also commented and let me know that if you call smith and Wesson they will send you the correct screws for free so maybe try that if they don’t fit for you , but 6-32 1/2 worked perfectly for me and a couple other viewers

@@michaelcho9153 Yes ! The slide comes with everything except the barrel and recoil spring , and no I’m going to leave the stock sights , they have a lower 1/3 co-witness already! And since the window is pretty small I don’t want an absolute co-witness as it would be pretty busy in such a small window , it works perfect the way it is for me !

Does the optic co witness with the iron sights? Or is it to high?
The optic co witnesses! Maybe not lower 1/3 it’s more like a lower 1/5 lol, but you can see your sights through the glass. BUT make sure you check the zero of your irons ! My irons on the new slide came low and right , I zeroed my optic and was impacting POA POI every single time , with the irons on the sight was low and right. About 8 inches at 25 yds

If I had to guess I would say 6-32 1/4 because they’re about half the length

Im not a lawyer and can’t give legal advise , but my interpretation is if you purchase an on roster firearm you can modify it.

Please do not use the round head screws. Get the proper screws from Holosun. The button caps only hold the optic from the top, the original screws hold the optic from the top, but also down into it a ways.
The button told are fine for a quickie fix, but just get the correct ones from Holosun.

Way too much oil! That will attract dust and dirt. Could cause a problem when you need it most.
Thanks for the tip ! But I always clean my ccw weapon like every two weeks cause I only carry concealed like twice a week on my days off and I clean my duty weapon once a week since I’m outside, well not clean but just wipe down and relube . But thanks for the tip!

A tad expensive 😬 , slide was $300 and 507k was about $300 all together after tax was like $660

I got my slide for about 200 at gungrab.COM. Hope I got the right one. Will post back in a week.
