    Excellent video. I’m a lifelong golfer and low handicapped player. I was taught from an early age to hit the golf ball from the inside so I’ve always been a draw player but the blocked right/hook has always been my Achilles heel.
    I will work on these drills thank you.

    Great Adam; I play to a low single handicap and my misses are hooks too left and blocks. I feel like most online videos are for people with too outside/In paths and open faces; so this video is perfect for me. To gain more of a feel of turning the corner low and left is a huge feeling I am excited to try to get my swing more neutral and hopefully more consistent

    Wow this is great, my first video I've seen from you. Subscribed. I think the reason I found it was because I searched up "why do I push right on par 3's". I have a feeling its all mental, but I only push right on Par 3's. Is this a thing? I've struggled with it my whole life and its super frustrating. I have clubbed up and down and still results in this issue.

  • @jamiesloan7259

    I think that the most important point you made was…. Play around with extremes. See what’s required to start the ball left, and curve it right, and vice versa. I purposely work the ball on almost every shot. A straight, neutral flight is the hardest one to perfect. However, if you can predict your ball flight, golf becomes MUCH easier. Example…. I’m basically trying to work the ball towards the trouble. Let’s say there’s a driving hole, with a pond up the right side. I’ll start my ball towards the left edge of the fairway, or even slightly in the rough. Then purposely hit a fade. If it fades, it’s in the middle. If it stays straight, then I’m still ok. Or, say the pin is tucked left, and short siding yourself would most likely lead to bogey. Aim at the right edge of the green, and draw it in. The ball will constantly be working it’s way towards the target(the pin). Even if it doesn’t draw, you’re on the correct side to easily save par. I think trying to play a straight ball is a big mistake in golf. If the ball starts curving, in either direction, it’s always working itself away from your target. You have to eliminate the 2-way miss. It will kill your scores.

    Adam, I'm in the category of hooks, pushes, fats, thins, and inside out shanks! My back is such that I cannot tilt a lot at the golf ball. I have to turn much more level and fight getting the club too far behind me. This is so grooved that even making sure the club stays outside my hands, I will still duck under and get stuck. Do you have a thought to turn but keep the club more in front of me on the backswing?

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  Před 2 lety

      Jim,
      I have several videos at this channel on the backswing pivot. A good pivot should not be hard on your back, must back issues happen around impact where all the speed is.
      I hope this helps.

    You have a very distinct "drop into the slot" as you transition at the top and I'm wondering if that is generated by the movement of your body in transition. It's a beautiful move, somewhat reminiscent of Rory (yes, I did said that!). Thanks.

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Mike, unfortunately I hit it 60 yards shorter than Rory.
      Yes, dropping of club should be caused my body movement in transition.

  • @jeffp2001

    What do you mean by the grip causing the face to be de lofted? I was told I drag the handle to much causing de loft I’ve been trying to release the club earlier and more from the inside like the amateur in the video would that be wrong for me if I’m dragging the handle to much. Thx

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  Před 6 měsíci

      Hard to say without seeing your swing David. It certainly is possible to drag the club through impact and overly de-loft it

    I would love to know how difficult it was for Adam to get a hold of a hockey stick in Australia lol. If I wanted a cricket bat, I would have no clue where to get one (I live in Canada) so I imagine that wasn't just something he picked up at the local mall lol. I'd enjoy hearing the story btw if anyone reads this from the academy!
    And btw....not many people recognize this but in ice hockey, the correct way to take a slap shot is to impact the ice several inches behind the puck. This allows the stick to bend/flex which stores energy in the shaft and then is released through impact and the follow through. Obviously not how you want to do that in the drill he demonstrated but I just thought I'd mention it! :)

    • @kexith
      @kexith Před 2 lety +2

      Depends on the shot you want to make. What I took from this video is that the club should swing around your body so it will be going left towards the end.

      @@kexith and if you can cure the pushing issue, and have out-to-in path thru contact ON DEMAND, then you can hit a cut when it is needed, like a recovery around a tree, for example, when a str8 shot is not an option.
