What scarlet violet set is your favorite and why?
Honestly, so far 151 and paldean fates I like paldean fates because pull rates are good and it's not the same cards there so many baby shiny and sar feels good great set to open with my nephew
@@DanimalPacks right now its twilight masquerade cause of the greninja but my 2 other favorite cards are the deerling and sawsbuck take advantage of every opportunity to get product

If 151 didn’t exist it’s a toss up for me between PR and TF. I overall like the SV era so far.
Obsidian flames twilight masquerade are my favor so far
I'm an SV base fan as well! I only played 1st and 2nd generation games until recently I've been playing Ruby. Just training up for the elite 4. Playing Ruby def helped build some appreciation for Gardevoir, Groudon, etc. I recommend people play the games if/when the hobby feels a little dull

Ok there’s roaring moon, garchomp and groudon and those are pretty good honestly. Yeah maybe it’s time to build a bigger position there. Only because there’s groudon and I’m a groudon simp. 😂
Surely if everyone is bulk buying boxes, there’s essentially always going to be supply even when they stop printing sets?
Correct and that’s why I’m not sure why value is rising so quickly. I don’t understand it and I won’t try to. I’m just going to trust the process and see what happens. It’s a risk still of course. 😎

I feel like Temporal Forces is gonna be like Lost Origin.
People are gonna say they hated it but later will be like “It’s not so bad”.
Hard to compare those two but I like temporal clearly although for me it’s about that gengar full art not the SIR necessarily. I really need to open at least a box or two and then buy singles 😎
@@orionsires Yeah I totally get it. I just feel like the Eevee IR and the tougher pull rates and the other improved IR cards and Ace Spec cards will really help where the SIRs are lacking.
Tough hit rates can even make “meh” cards very desirable.
Plus we saw how Magikarp took off and I have no doubt Eevee is much more popular than Magikarp.
Plus the Perrine trainer card with the growlithe are amazing!
Sv1 and TEF… great sv era play. There’s really no reason for everyone to not be going hard into 151. It is the GOAT of sv.
151 will become my top priority after getting some more base and masquerade it’s chilling in price and I need to start buying it before it sees its day. Even if the products don’t move I’d like to open it soon for a stream or down the road 😎 purely a fun set to open for me

@@orionsires I feel like there’s no way it doesn’t move. We will probably get a reprint for Christmas if I had to guess, but I see 151 as the guaranteed winner of SV. Right now at least. Can’t wait to see the dragon set.
Haven't touched much s&v base but paradox does have a great looking groudon, the roaring moon and I personally like the iron hands. Prices really good for temporal forces right now, considering jumping on that. Gen 2 fan boys gonna simp for the walking wake, raging bolt, and gouging fire, not to mention the trainers. Apparently the cobalion and virizion doing well too I don't see it but I'm sure someone does. If I could buy both I would, but I'm still investing in the sw&sh boxes I missed the boat on
Temporal may have already moved since I bought in I think that 570$ price might be gone now need to check on that, I’m actually not a fan of the SIR dogs at all really. I mean the entei one looks pretty fire but they covered dogs last gen really well with CZ they didn’t need them again so soon IMO 🤷🏻♀️
My top 3 plays for SV Era.... 1) Paldea Evolved 2) 151 ENG + JPN 3) Temporal Forces
Paldea has moved too much for me to be comfortable putting more into it but I’m with you on 151 and temporal

Yeah the SwSh Alt Arts will be around, but you’ll have to pay more for them, because not all will drop in price imo

Pokemon has just announced there year round printing numbers 22-23 was 9.7 bil, and now 23-24 is 11.9 bill🫠

I like paldea evolved the most, almost finished a master set, but I’m a huge applin and greninja fan so I’m going in on twilight masquerade.
What do you think about correlation between Pokémon and other investments? I anticipate Bitcoin hitting new highs and people taking profits and rolling them into other investments like Pokémon. It might be cool if you did a poll to see what other investments we as a community are in. S&P, savings, crypto etc
Also maybe a rate cut next year could cause people to liquidate collections to buy a home?

Really good points you’ve made actually, rate cuts correlating to collection liquidity and investments moving over in general. Absolutely. This is why I am still collecting hard. I enjoy it but also feel everything’s going to work out just fine. That’s a nice peace of mind to have when investing in anything let alone TCG from our youth. It’s amazing and a blessing that we can all rely on the value of these sets and even allows us like you said to pick our predicted winners or preferred sets based on chase cards/our favorite pokemon. It’s a lot of fun when you don’t get too crazy spending wise but on the bright side it’s at least in something that will always have a market. Greninja is growing on me a lot but the shrouded fable promos are just blowing my mind right now. Twilight masquerade greninja unfortunately gets the short end of the stick compared to the promo they just leaked 🔥🔥🔥 but I’m sure it will grow on me. The Lana’s aid for whatever reason is an odd favorite of mine. Not in my nature usually to like trainer SIR much.
@@orionsires I love getting to invest in something I already would be collecting, I might offload some slabs I bought purely for investments in the near future, but honestly just so I can put that money towards pieces of the collection I really want. Seeing you chase your grails has helped me focus on what I really want
Paradox rift is a sleeper set. CoolTrainerRyan has high hopes on it for a reason.

Hey Orion what are your thoughts on picking up the Snorlax promo card from 151 ? There like £2-3 each sealed. I have 3 of them. Want to get more.
I think they are awesome personally but there are so many out there I’m not sure it would be worth while. The price point is very low though for sure. 😎

Crown zenith all the way! Got me back into the hobby as well. Such beautiful cards in my opinion. But honestly for scarlet violet.... I'd say paldea evolved. If I had to pick one on the spot.
Paldea evolved seems like it’s the winner I can’t help but wonder if it has anything to do with the name having “evolved” in it. Like maybe buyers correlate value with the actual name of the set too… I know it has great cards but it’s not a set I felt I needed to go hard on ever. I’ll admit people were telling me for months to buy paldea more.. oh well 😂
I think people just flock to what becomes popular. As to why it becomes popular, beats me. From an investing standpoint the obvious choice seems to be paldea evolved simply because that's what is already trending in the right direction. It's like evolving skies. I don't get the hype behind but it seems one card has solely just driven its investment potential. Me personally I hate the set because it doesn't seem rewarding enough. To me evolving skies is as bad as chilling reign, lost origin, fusion strike and base set. I personally love silver tempest, astral radiance, brilliant stars and crown zenith far more. You just get more out of it.
I just bought one of each SIR from SV Base for ~$125. Barely more than a booster box after shipping and taxes.

I’ve been so focused on vintage that I’ve missed some great opportunities in modern. So now I’m putting more money towards SV since I missed some of my chances with SwSh. I have no serious attachment to these boxes either so that’s a good thing for me personally as I get attached to my grails. 😂
@@orionsires From my perspective you are going pretty ham. Like your personality is very driven and always 'on', that I think to an extent you're never satiated so you might always have that slight feeling that you're not seizing all the opportunities, but you actually are seizing a ton (even with SwSh - for example you have case(s) of the best set, cases of other sets and lots of sealed boxes which is more than most ppl hold imo). I have a similar personality but haven't stretched myself as far as you for context. So I respect your constant drive, and you make videos, support a family and sell stuff online on top!
@@orionsires SV's time will come especially those nice looking SIRs the pull rates are easier but the prices are way too low because theres 0 hype at the moment

How many CROWN ZENITH ETBS do you have?
I wanna say 10-12 etb’s a case or two of Pikachu Vmax boxes and some regi boxes and a case of pokemon center etb’s which might not seem like a lot but at the time it felt like I spent a ton PLUS I was opening the set too so I did quite some damage to my wallet chasing cards 😂
@@orionsires in this video you got 9 S&V BASE, and then 9 battle styles. I would put you on 9 to 12 cases of crown zenith. I'm obsessed currently. I hit my cap cause of current market price but do you not think that this set has potential to do way better than base? Top 8 cards are big value and have done nothing but rise In price. Despite market noise, despite reprints, despite it not being a booster box. Like singles are rising, and now the etbs are. I so would have put you on cases on CZ
How are you finding cases for 500?
I was referring to the prices of SV base probably and even then 540 is still a deal today for the same case. Cases didn’t used to start this high in price either. SV has spiked the cost of boxes both by the case and by the box.
@@orionsires I'm more curious about where you buy from. I'm fairly new and buying from eBay, wondering if there are better priced, trustworthy stores I should be using outside of distributor access.
Also, I'm curious what your timeframe is when buying cases. I.e. Right on release, a few months after, etc.
And last question, do you have exit strategies or goals for any of these cases, or are you diamond hands to the end of time?

Pokemon hasn’t released their flagship card rarity for the scarlet and violet era yet - there will be a rarity higher than SIR in the back half of the block. These beginning sets are mid mid compared to what is to come. Although no pokemon set is not worth investing into, I feel like people should fade these beginning sets if they want the best roi in this block.
Everyone keeps saying that and I always underestimate Pokémon co but I’m sure they’ve got something epic up their sleeves with the upcoming dragon set but I think there’s lots of potential to go around 😎🔥
My guy, if you don't believe in the set at all, don't buy a single case. Don't buy shit you don't like.
It’s easy to say that but time changes things and some sets do grow on you so it’s fair to give them some credit. 😎
Reprints do matter Orion
Just look at Shining Fates
If they print enough it becomes much less desirable

Shining fates is a terrible set in comparison to other special sets.. it’s has nothing to do with reprints… look at hidden fates and evolutions
@dspill1090 you make a good point but l would argue that all these sets would be a lot more valuable if they were not printed as much as they were
@@BtMo-og2cw short term & medium term maybe. The sets composition matters and of course amount printed and reprinted.
Long term the chase card value or what’s in the set becomes less relevant the sealed booster box or etb will be worth considerably more. Shining fates though I find hard to predict long term though. It’s just very lackluster and gen 9 heavy
