- Abandoned Marathon - Kenova, WV. Closed roughly 2 years ago, this gas station just sits left to rot literally right across the street from the fuel plant. There are other options in Kenova. So, perhaps it's better management or stores and options that led to this places closure.

I live a block away. When Marathon decided it wasn't making enough money, they closed. A Mexican man reopened it, still not enough business. He was only there a few months. Then there was a crew there, cleaned out all of the products, which were still in there for about a year, painted it and it's been abandoned ever since. Too many gas stations around our town, I guess. Those busses are still in use. They disappear every school day. There is a train bridge going into Kentucky, but the big one that goes all the way across town goes into Ohio. Lots of people photograph trains crossing it. I'm glad you enjoyed our town, it's a great place to live. Someone needs to come up with an idea for that place, that isn't a gas station. Cool thing about here is that Kentucky is across one river, and Ohio is just across the other. Really handy sometimes.

This is About 3 miles from my house. It's my hometown. This actually back in the 90s was a Certified gas station. Then back before The pandemic the Cigarette shop across the bridge in Catlettsburg KY put another Cigarette store there. They called it like America Quick Mart. It clearly didn't do well. The Car wash does amazing! The school busses parked there are actually used daily, that's where they park each day. Also, Right across the Bridge is Ashland oil refinery aka MARATHON!! You would think as close as we are to MARATHON it would be reopened. Love that you done this video. Super cool to see my Lil old hometown.

Every other Sunday my family & I visit my Grandmother as she lives in the Ceredo/ Kenova area & we pass by this very Marathon on the way there

The tracks that go over the river into KY are CSX tracks. NS up in this area operate in WV and OH only. If you're still in this area, there is a old abandoned YMCA in Russell,KY downtown area.

There’s an abandoned Marathon in Beaver Falls by the Catholic School, but I think someone might own it. There’s usually an RV and a truck parked under the canopy.

You should visit the abandoned Hagerstown sears before its completely gone by the Long meadow shopping center! its currently being torn down for a sheetz but the process is slow af. The store was built in the 1950s and closed in 2003

Hey Wallie, I am actually familiar with this chain. Americas Quick Marts is owned by a man named Jack Patel. They are out of Prestonsburg KY. All of Jacks family help out with the chain. So they are 4 of these in my county. His nephew is the county manager. So he is over all of four county locations. If

I ate at that Hardee's 2 weeks before they shut down...I had no idea that was going to happen ,and have ate at that Shoney's too

I recently went to Salem, Virginia and I noticed a few abandoned buildings along the main road, mostly restaurants that have moved locations. it would be really interesting to see you do a video on some of those in Salem! the building I saw that interested me the most had no logo and is at this address: 1940 Lee Hwy in Salem Virginia. The Ramsdell house is in the neighboring town of Ceredo. It was part of the underground railroad. Very historic.
