Exactly and can we talk about how Gabriel went in immediately back to Camille the second he saw Emily with some other guy and he also asked her to move in like ??? He obviously has bigger issues and couldn’t stay single for a second without going back to Camille, even though he clearly doesn’t love her. Alfie has been consistent and an example of what a good man should do consistently asking her to be upfront and honest about everything because he didn’t want any drama or complications. I was rooting for them.
Gabriel's actions made him appear less handsome to me in season 2. Both men are very handsome but when I look closely, Alfie's features are more refined...

Listen, Gabriel is absolutely gorgeous and I do love the chemistry between him and Emily. But Alfie is just such a nice and fresh character. He was straightforward and honest from the beginning. He speaks what's on his mind and communicates his worries (about them) to Emily and Gabriel. He is genuinely interested in Emily and wants to make their relationship work. If this was real life then I would say go for Alfie all the way! But Emily is probably going to end up with Gabriel as He was the love interest from the start and that "relationship" was never not an option in the show. Even in the last episode of season 2 you kind of got a deju vu moment of the season 1 finale with her wanting to stay for Gabriel but him now being with Cami again. So I'm guessing that if the writers will keep this same will they/won't they thing going in season 3 then they will definitely end up together.

I like the layering they added to Alfie's character - he seems confident and cool on the outside but insecure and vulnerable on the inside, I hope Emily ends up with him, I think breaking up will completely devastate him.
At the beginning of season 2 I was like wtf is happening and I wanted Gabriel with Emily, wasn't fond of Alfie seeing him in the trailer, but couldn't expected to change my mind so easily. Great character , handsome, english accent and so straight forward.

I don’t think they’re horrible people and in this case what they did was wrong but relationships and life end up being complicated and things get messed up. I love Emily and Alfie so much together. Like I get she is in love with Gabrielle and that isn’t something she can flick her finger and get rid of but Emily and Alfie don’t have a relationship that is slightly toxic and hurt other people

If they wanted to do a real plot twist/something unexpected in Season 3, they should lead Emily back to Gabriel as they always do and then make her realize he was just the ideal french love for a foreign girl but she's developed deeper feelings for Alfie now and wants a future with him.
We all know she's gonna end up with Gabriel (maybe even alone), but nobody expects her to stay with Alfie long-term.
That'll be really really nice cuz Alfie is quite a character, I'm sure he has his flaws, but at least he's honest about his intentions and feelings 😍 but too bad they're gonna make this into another cliche where she goes back to Gabriel "true love 🙄", cuz cheating is that romantic.

This new relationship was so refreshing. I want more of him. The relationship was so straightforward and fun. Ending up with Gabriel is so predictable. Normalize moving on in tv shows rather than circulating back around to the same relationship that keeps being hard and not working out. Love and relationships should be fun and easy with intermittent bouts of difficulty. Not the other way around. Go for the Alfie in your life!
I must say though, this show has some seriously handsome men on cast.

Gabriel is a terribly written character. He seems genuinely in love with Emily but is either too cowardly or to blasé. He’s hot but he’s got the personality of cardboard. Alfie is cute. He’s not normally my type physically but by the end of the season I fell in love with him and find him totally hot purely on character alone. He makes British English( the least sexy accent in the world) sound hot, while gabby makes the French accent sound pathetic. He’s a character that’s well written and has simple motivations.

Honestly, I’m over the Emily and Gabriel arc, I feel like together it’s just too many problems but I love Alfie and Emily 😭😭 I hope she stays and does long distance with alfie .

I’m having the same feelings about Emily as I had for Carrie in SAT. I know a main protagonist doesn’t have to be likeable but Emily is so obnoxious it pains me. Wasn’t so hurt after breaking up with Doug but maybe that’s fine. Kissed Gabriel even AFTER she found out her friend was his girlfriend. Misled Matthieu and hurt him too. Continued dating Alfie even after Alfie kindly and calmly asked them both for the truth about Gabriel and Emily’s feelings for each other so as not to get hurt. And I don’t know how anyone who cheated with their friend’s boyfriend could have the nerve to go to the friend’s family home and act all peachy. Emily sure has some thick skin. I was hoping for some character development past just the learning French thing but maybe in season 3 we will get that.
Anyway. Alfie is wonderful, I hope they don’t just write him out after a break up to live in London never to be seen again. Great actor and great character.

I feel you on SAT. Carrie and Big never made sense. I understand that John is her main love interest but after all that shit she went through with him, she should have chosen Aiden. Aiden was cheated on and still ended up with her a second time. Yes, it was shitty her him to give her an ultimatum of marriage just because he didn’t want her with anyone else, because he couldn’t fully trust her but in all honesty even he deserved better. I’ve never understood Carrie’s obnoxiousness towards relationships, and it’s clear it has to do with family dynamics in away. So, maybe they do deserve each other.
Same with Emily, Gabriel cheated on his girlfriend with Emily without telling Emily he had one, and because of her feelings she still gave into him. And when she finally got caught, she had the audacity to act like a wounded bird. Cami doesn’t even know how they exactly met, she thinks it only happened one time. Even after all that Cami still decided to move in with him, and Gabriel allows it, even though he isn’t in love with her. Emily is about to break the heart of a beautiful guy whose serious about her. In my opinion all these people are attracted to dysfunction. So maybe they deserve each other. Since no one has any self respect for themselves.

I was forced to watch season 2 over christmas with my family and I was so ready to shit on this season again. Until Alfie came. He was the mvp of the season (and possibly the only likable and sane character in the whole serie).
Dear writers, please normalize having the protagonist move on and choose a healthier relationship in the end. Gabriel with Emily is indecisive, predictable, and overall complicated. Alfie with Emily is actually healthy, mature and makes so much more sense.

I'm so glad they didn't turn this story into a complicated unrealistic love story to stir some drama. Hated the show in the beginning for her being such a terrible friend & ignorant person. But with Alfie in the picture and her acknowledging her ignorance & adjusting to french culture I see some good character development. The other characters are just great as well!
Nvm I just watched the finale wtf. Why am I not surprised. There was absolutely no evidence she was still in love with Gabriel. When him & Camille started flirting again she just felt awkward but there never has been any sort of him that she was upset about it…….this literally came out of nowhere. The show already has so much potential with her job. She doesn’t need drama with her love life. They could’ve just shown the struggles of a long-distance relationship.

Why do I feel like so many Netflix shows/franchises do this: have a kinda problematic generic hot guy as the main love interest, then introduce an amazing, interesting, caring and gorgeous guy who the girl has way more chemistry with, and then have her go back to the first one? the kissing booth, to all the boys I’ve loved before, etc...

If we show enough support would the writer let Emily to end up with Alfie 😔 honestly I know how this is going to be, Emily will break Alfie's heart, decide to screw Cami and their friendship to be with Gabriel to prove that their love is powerful and it goes beyond any level of moral but that message is fucked up and wrong.
I just really hope that this show won't be typical, and the script will be more related to real life. Emily has feelings for Alfie, maybe not as strong as for Gabriel, but so what. If you have feelings for someone and then you decide to build a relationship with this person, these feelings will only grow with each day. We're not in a fairy tale, it's okay to choose by your brain.
Yeah, a lot of things (almost all) that was happening in this show didn’t look like something from real life (honestly I moved to Paris a couple of months ago and it's not a fairy tale at all haha), but this twist with her job is really good. She had a plan and it just fell apart. Same shit happens in life all the time haha
