I was a Disc Jockey/PD/MD in 1989, when I received a promo copy 45 of this song. I put it on the turntable and cried my eyes out. So many things about this song touched my soul. First of all, the lyrics describe true love like no other song has been able to in my lifetime. My first response was "I hope I find love like this someday." Secondly, The vocal range of this singer is amazing. When the pitch-change comes you have to say to yourself, "damn, this song just keeps getting better and better." Lastly, when he hits that final note and holds it for an icredible amount of time, (I don't think they had the capability to electronically stretch, nor did they have pitch perfect in 1989) when I played it on the air lead me to say something like "suck on that Mariah Carey." The saddest thing about this song is the band broke up in 1985. Credit some USA Disc Jockey for playing it one day as a "secret song" and it making the phones explode for its resurgence to the charts. It did reach #1 on Billboard so it got what it deserved.

Worked for a band in the 80's In 1983 we heard this song for the for the first time and bet our manager who was a radio DJ in our little town that it would go to #1. He said it wouldn't make the charts in 1989 we had to rub it in his face. The lead singer suggested they sing the cover and add it to the show..... I told him if they did i would go to the hardware store to get a set of vice grips so he could hit the notes. Thank God the thought passed quickly.
That was a great song. Unfortunately, I was poor so never bought an album unless it had at least 3 songs I loved. This was a song I loved and it slipped from my memory till today. Thanks for keeping it alive.
This song is one of most favourite songs of all time. I rocked to the mid to late 60s bands, loved Uriah Heap, Deep Purple and the Great bands of the 70s, the 80s was a fun decade of spectacular songs that let me dance my brains out. Today, I am left wanting. It's a God Damn good thing I have soooo many discs. I'm 71 and this song by Sheriff still stirs my soul. The lead singer actually set a record for holding that last note longer than any other in record history. For the 34 year-old who loves this song I say hallelujah. My kids are similar age and I gave them the gift of music from a few decades. Both love Uriah Heap and most recently, Super Tramp. And brother, music is the only time machine. When I hear this song by Sheriff, I am right there at Pea Head's party with my Weezy-woo. 1982, it was a good year.
I'm not sure when sheriff first came out but I was born in 94. Anyway the first time I heard this song was on the movie in joe dirt when brandy comes up riding on her horse. So I asked my dad who sings it and he told me the name of the song and told me it's by Sherrif so I looked it on CZcams that day when I got done With my homework I was in middle school at the time and I been hooked on the song ever sense.

That’s an understatement!! 🤣🤣😂
🥰🌹😃👍😇Sometimes heaven is felt right here on earth. God Bless everyone.
