Billie Eilish, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” ALBUM REACTION/REVIEW - HAUNTING!

- For my 161st review, I’m gonna be taking a look at the debut studio album from Billie Eilish, titled “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” At the young age of just 17, Billie Eilish has seen her star shine bright over the last few years, starting with her sleeper hit “dont smile at me” EP in 2017, and she’s continued to release highly successful singles such as “ocean eyes,” “lovely,” “you should see me in a crown,” and the leadoff single from this album “bury a friend,” which peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. She’s also had some major collaborations with artists like Khalid and Vince Staples as well. That said, I’ve yet to really jump into her music, so with this being her debut album, will Billie win me over with her music? Absolutely, this is masterful!
(CORRECTION: I mentioned in the video that I thought "bury a friend" was the leadoff single for this album, however I was wrong. "you should see me in a crown" and "when the party's over" were both released as singles prior to "bury a friend." I apologize for the misinformation.)
Favorite tracks: bad guy, xanny, you should see me in a crown, all the good girls go to hell, wish you were gay, 8, my strange addiction, bury a friend, ilomilo, listen before i go, i love you
Least favorite tracks: Honestly, none of them. Even the “middle-of-the-road” tracks were good enough to not be least favorites.
Rating: Excellent

Loved your review/reaction. I'm a 65 year old who loves the album and feels that Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas (producer) are among the best thing to come down the musical boulevard in decades. Her work prior to this album is solid and worth a listen. Her live performances (saw her this past October in Los Angeles) are fire. She will be on a lot of year end Best Of lists and will likely be a serious contender at this year's Grammys - Best New Artist and Album of the Year. Finally, as you said, at 17 she has such a long runway in front of her, making me eager for what her evolution looks and sounds like.

And yeah, I agree, Billie's shown a lot of promise in such a short time and I think she'll definitely been in contention for several Year-End lists and awards!
This album was something entirely different than what I've heard and I really loved it. Especially towards the end of the album.
Also if you haven't seen the video for Bad Guy I'd recommend it. It fits her weird style but also showcases her just having fun lol and makes me enjoy the song a little more.
I haven't gotten to listen to her old stuff yet, but I'm excited to because I want to see how different it is from this!
And yeah, I'll try to give the Bad Guy video a look, too!

Nice! I didn't mean that to say that mothers wouldn't like her, it was just a figure of speech to say that she's not the most conventional pop artist. That kind of thing.

Oh man I'm so glad you liked that album . I've been following you only for a couple of weeks and this review came in my recommendations .
I love this album. I never really got into her before that release and kinda had a problem with the way She was being marketed ( I still think she is kinda forced into people's screens ) but if we're just talking about the music . This is amazing .
Especially for a 17 year old . It just does such a great job at setting the atmosphere it wants to set . You have all the teenage emotions being broke down on here so well . The writing on here is pretty masterful .with some nice metaphors . Imagery . Double entendre and even clever funny play on words.
( I particularly liked the line .
Tell me nothing lasts . Like I don't know
You can kiss my asking about my motto . ( Stop asking me why I am that way but also I am " king " about my motto and you can get out if that botters you)
But that's just one of many examples .
I thought the fact she had an anti drug song was interesting as most teenage artists today go the opposite direction . And even if the last few tracks didn't do as much for me I still love how ambitious They were . And how it was kinda the depression settling in after the euphoria of the first half .
My favourite tracks are definitely bad guy . All the good girls go to hell. Wish you were gay ( the number scheme was another so clever moment on that one ) My strange addiction and bury a friend .
I'm really curious to see where will She take it from there .
Absolutely agree with everything you said! I hadn't really listened to her prior to this album, but I'm glad I did, and I can't wait to see where she goes from here!

I'm not too familiar with Björk so I may give her a look, but I generally don't review albums from that far back in time, so I unfortunately probably wouldn't be able to make a video review of Post. Unfortunately, other then her first ep and a few singles here and there she doesn’t have any other projects 😞 I definitely suggest the ep, though! If you don’t want to listen to the entire thing (on camera at least) then I suggest the songs “COPYCAT” “idontwanttobeyouanymore” and “hostage”. Her music videos bring the creepiness to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL - and basically any and all live performances are watchable and amazing 👍
Yeah, I mean she is just starting out and I know she's still young, but I know she'll have plenty more projects in the future! And yeah, I will definitely check out the EP! A lot of people have highly recommended it, so I'll definitely give it a look!
honestly i’m not the biggest fan of billie eilish 😩 i don’t mind her music, but i just don’t see the huge hype around her. i like watching reviews to her new album though, as i like to see the range of perspectives. on a sidenote, if you ever have the chance you should check out SZA’s Ctrl album (you don’t have to “react” to it by any means, i just think you may like it if you listen to it in your personal time) love this review ❤️❤️

The voice filter kinda bugggs me but I still mildly like her music. I'll listen, add to a playlist but have no desire to ever see live
That’s a fair perspective. I can see how the filter could rub some people the wrong way, and I get not wanting to see her in a live show.
I liked the singles off this album but I wish I liked the rest more, it just wasn't very pleasing to my ears.. her first ep "don't smile at me" had more interesting melodies, more beautiful production, and stronger writing in my opinion

@@MattsRandomJourneys I'm glad you'll look into it! Her music didn't click with me at first listen but she really grew on me and I'm obsessed with her at the moment.. Truly one of the most interesting artists to come around this decade
Yeah, definitely! I've heard a number of people say that her music takes a few listens to click, actually, which is interesting to me given that this album clicked with me so fast.
I'm really excited to hear her first EP. I agree she's definitely one of the more interesting artists out there, I can't wait to hear her other stuff!
