    Any keen coffee fan will confirm that this type of cutter 'grinder' is the worst possible way to process decent coffee beans, however you brew it. They cannot produce the even sized particles needed for decent coffee. You get large lumps, fine dust, and everything between. If you use one, get a decent burr grinder for your coffee and use the cutter one for your dubbing instead. Its a win/win - your coffee will improve vastly and you will also have superb dubbing.

    Hi Davie - another great video! With that being said, I would strongly suggest you improve the sound level of your voice as it's much too low on most of your recorded videos. You could use an inexpensive Lavalier mic or if you're recording on a DSLR or any other device that has an input for a 3.5mm jack use the Rode VideoMicro on-camera mic (around $55).
    One has to dramatically pump up the volume on your videos to hear what you're saying and it's a shame because it's mostly interesting 😁

      Hi Sam,
      I like seals fur but on the bigger flies I'll mix in the underfur from arctic fox tails especially the fibre close to the bottom of the tail as it is normally not very good for the flies I would use the fox for, it helps cover the body really quickly and saves using up the seals fur...I have also attached a link to Michael Frodins SS dubbing which I like to use as well..I'm glad you enjoyed the video..

    Thank for this video. I recently got a new blender for my wife, so I could use our old one for making dubbing. I haven’t needed to use it yet but expect to use it soon. By using the large scissors, are you able to cut close enough to the hide so you aren’t leaving hair behind? Are you using the large ones to avoid wearing out your tying scissors? Do you see any value in saving the whiskers for leg or tailing material?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Flytyer1948,
      Many years ago I used to blend a lot of dubbings and I found the lager dress making scissors did a great job so I still use them as you saw in the video but if I need to use a smaller pair to get much closer than I would use them especially in small skins like mouse and mole..Yes I have used the whiskers on a few old patterns in collections that I have done in the past and they make great tails for dries..

      @@DavieMcPhail Followup to thank you & maybe give you a smile. I’m blending maybe the seventh round of hares mask dubbing. I like add some good pinches of matching or complimentary Antron yarns & some pinches of finely chopped Krystal Flash or similar flash material. The Antron addition is based on suggestions from Gary LaFontaine in a class I took with him in the 1990s. The amusing thing is while I’m happily using our old blender on a regular basis, my wife has yet to use the fancy, somewhat expensive new blender even once. Ah well, it made her happy, & if she’s happy, I’m happy & have a lot of dubbing. ;-) Be well. -Bob
