The actress Kelly LeBrock from Weird Science and The Woman In Red, is the inspiration for this song. Before she was "really" famous, she was in a bar while John Oats was in there, and she out drank and out cussed every man in there. So Oats said: "She would eat men alive". Oats went home and wrote "Maneater".

I may have been a teen in the 70s, but I know music from the 1940s on because of my parent’s record collection, siblings 45s, American Bandstand reruns, MTV heyday, TV shows, movies, etc. I guess music became very fragmented at some point-no shared knowledge anymore

@@vaportrails7943 “Maneater” was their biggest hit, in that it spent the most weeks at the top of the Billboard charts. But “You Make My Dreams” is their most popular.

This is the H2O album. See if you notice at the beginning of this song it sounds like water dripping. I seem to be the only one hearing it but this there.

An excellent band 'Hall and Oats', other tracks by them which I recommend are:
"I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)",
    "Sara Smile",
    "Private Eyes",
    "She's Gone",
    "Kiss On My List",
    "Out of Touch ",
    "Rich Girl",
    "One on One",
    "I Can Dream About You",
    "Adult Education",
    "Family Man",
    "Everytime You Go Away",
    "You Make My Dreams".
There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.

Sara Smile, Rich Girl, She's Gone, Kiss on my List, I can't go for that. Darryl Hall is my favorite when it comes to blue eyed soul.

Men have the reputation of being players and playing games with the heart, but I know all too well that many women can be a dangerous proposition as well. This song nails that aspect. Went to a Hall and Oates show with a friend of mine who was a big time Metal fan and he walked out of there blown away despite his skepticism going in. Daryl Hall's voice is legendary and yes, he had unlimited range in his prime.

Daryl Hall was one of the soloists in the "We Are the World" video. Women have been associated with cats for centuries including "Cougars" today.

One On One, Say It Isn’t So, Out Of Touch, Family Man, KISS On My List..I haven’t even covered a quarter of their hits. Look these up though and enjoy! 80’s had some of the best music!
