This song came out when I was in third grade (I'm old) and one day on the way home from school, Maneater came on the radio and our entire bus (first graders through sixth graders) sang along to it. It happened 38 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.

Thanks my Friend. You are so Funny and you really Understand Music! I Love your sense of Humor. You hear all the nuances and you also have a good ear because you can sing in Key (True You are good). You ALSO sing HIGH notes...........that occurs ANYTIME you happen to be singing, because you are Always "HIGH" (as a kite) and happen to be singing after Burning a Fatty😁! Off-Topic: I'm a musician (but have a white-collar job) and played drums since 6, and taught myself guitar and piano in high-school and I can play almost anything. My TWO Idols for Drums & Guitar BOTH Past Away this Year, Neil (The Professor) Peart & just last week, Eddie Van Halen! I played drums because of Neil Peart and used to play Moving Pictures Album end to end 100's of times on a record player, and Eddie was a Huge Influence Ever since I first hear Euruption! I have an Eddie Van Halen Striped Red Guitar. RIP Neil and Eddie 2020! 🤟🏼

Appreciate the love you had for the sax on this one. One of the things I miss about the 80s is how so many bands incorporated horns into their music. Of course being a sax player makes me a bit biased, but I love that sound. This is a great early Mtv music video and this jam was freaking huge for awhile. These guys put out many hits and I mean very popular hits. I'd like to see you react to Duran Duran. They were a big hit machine around this time as well.

Daryl Hall - blond lead singer & keys (One of the best soul singers America has ever produced)
John Oates - brunet on rhythm guitar
    _Their 80s band:_
G.E. Smith - Lead guitar (He's played with lots of big names like Bowie, used to be the musical director on Saturday Night Live, and was Gilda Radner's 1st husband before she married Gene Wilder)
Charles "Mr. Casual" DeChant - Saxophone (yes, Mr. Casual is his nickname)
Tom "T-Bone" Wolk - Bass (RIP, T! He used to play bass on SNL working with G.E. Smith)
Mickey Curry - Drums (He's also played with Bryan Adams, among others)

  • @aprildavis-washington5734

Daryl Hall (Lead singer/Keyboard - Tall & Blonde), John Oates (Vocalist/Guitar - Brunette w/Mustache), Charlie DeChant (Sexy Sax), G.E. Smith (Lead Guitar), Tom T-Bone Wolk (Bass, RIP) and Mickey Curry (Drummer). Daryl Hall and John Oates are the best selling duo act of the 1980's but they had hits in the 70's and put out several albums in the 90's. Hey day being 1979-1985. Daryl started restoring old homes and eventually fixed up a 200+ year old house in upstate New Year where he live streamed his award winning online show Live From Daryl's House in the 2000's. He recently opened a restaurant near his home where he live streams from there. You can find videos of his show on CZcams. John has produced for other groups and put out a Country/Folk style album in 2018 Arkansas. He is also an author. He released his memoirs in a book called A Change Of Season. They are my favorite duo.

Daryl Hall is the blonde singer/keyboardist/guitarist and John Oates is the brunette guitarist/singer. I recommend their song One On One, She's Gone, Rich Girl, Kiss on My List and I Can't Go For That for a start. I also recommend Family Man, Private Eyes and Out of Touch because the videos are fun and the songs are good. If you want more after that I suggest: You Make My Dreams Come True, Sara Smile, Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid, Say it Isn't So, Method of Modern Love, Did it in a Minute and So Close.

I always laugh when I hear this song. I thought they were saying she’s a mad diva instead of man eater when I was younger. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I was in High School when this came out. When I found this in my Mom's record collection I brought my sax home and learned the solo.

Also, the lead guitarist is G E Smith... probably better known as the leader of the Saturday Night Live Band for 10 years of the show (85-95).

Always thought Maneater was the sound of the (early American) 80s to me... And the sax solo with sax echo was always bomb.

I love the sax. I went to see these guys in concert back in the day in Illinois. Sax player left the stage and was running around the floor playing. He hit a puddle of spilled drink and busted his tail, but he never missed playing a beat. My sister helped him up and he kept running. LOL

Dude. You are so entertaining. I grew up listening to Hall & Oates and it felt like they had a #1 hit every 6 months for like 5 years. I fully believe they were my first exposure to R&B. I hope you do more of their songs...especially "Sara Smile", "Rich Girl", "She's Gone". I believe they are still the top selling duo of all time. Keep it up dude. You are fun.

"A She-cat tamed by the purr of a jag-u-ar!" According to Daryl Hall (the blond vocalist) the song was written about New York City in the 1980s - about things such as the extensive greed and spoiled riches existing in the city. John Oates is the curly brown haired guy with mustache on guitar (4:15).

You’re hysterical! 💜your reaction & smoking! They were my favorite back in the day, met The Great Daryl Hall, twice, and got to be an extra in his video! They’re music made the world a better place! I’ll always love Hall & Oates, but Daryl was The Man! The greatest singing voice of all time!

You have to do more H&O... One of the only bands that left the industry on top. They decided after a big concert that that was it! Now I'm about to go listen to Hall & Oates all day.....
