Hamish, well reasoned and fantastic appointment. I heard people talking about a range of coaches but there was always a risk. You must congratulate the CEO and Chairman because it is clear that their two important criteria were 1. the coach had to be a winner - that is the Celtic way and 2. continuity. Rodgers was the only candidate who was an obvious winner - all others do not have his pedigree. Ange left the club in a great position both financially and football wise and it was critical to continue on that path. It was great following Celtic whilst Ange was here and there was some great football - now I move on and to tune into the spurs forums. All the best from down-under.
Excellent presentation Hamish, I have no issues with Brendan Rodgers coming back as manager and when Ange left, I really didn’t think we would get another premiership manager in place as a replacement. I don’t think that what Ange has done is any different than what Brendan did, yes the timings were very different but Ange said he was here for a long time, but yet he has walked away from Champions League Football for money.

Well said Hamish about this appointment being seen from the players perspective. They will be both relieved and delighted with Brendan now taking over. He did after all manage over some of the biggest names in football when he was manager of England's most succesful football club (Liverpool) and he almost had them win the Premiership then too (2nd place and only 2 points behind winners Man City in the 2013 to 2014 season)

Typical comments. Ange bought the best style of play and winning trophies to a team that was a total basket case. Kept the focus on the team and its achievements for everyone to enjoy the celebrations. Never signed nor asked for a long term contract and when the season was over and a bigger league came calling he accepted as every worker wanting a promotion has the right to take. He never left Celtic mid season or manager less during the season. Has never lauded the spurs fans like he did at Celtic, AND has left the club in a fantastic position.
When he left he wanted to go to end of season. He was told to leave there and then by people inside Celtic (think you can guess who). So whatever you think he tried to leave right way at end of season above board and was told to go immediately.

If Kieran Tierney came back to the Club my guess is he would be welcomed back with open arms and the fans would be ecstatic.. it is the nature of the beast given the amount of money in the English game that they will always attract the top talent.. If someone offered you a career move to the same Job but with double or treble the wage.. it’s a no brainer.. most of us would be out the door in a flash and sprinting to sign on… Yes BR left us high and dry but really. We don’t know what was happening behind the scenes.. the team had stopped performing so maybe it wasn’t a surprise to them.. remember the last few games under Ange his team took the foot off the gas before again applying themselves in the Cup final and last league game.. maybe they knew Ange was going.. maybe BRs team also knew… Anyway what’s done is done.. Well said Hamish about this appointment being seen from the players perspective. They will be both relieved and delighted with Brendan now taking over. He did after all manage over some of the biggest names in football when he was manager of England's most succesful football club (Liverpool) and he almost had them win the Premiership then too (2nd place and only 2 points behind winners Man City in the 2013 to 2014 season)
Happy with his appointment. A treble next season will get us all firmly behind him.
He was easily the best man for the job out of the list of names let's be honest he is the highest caliber coach we could have gotten you don't win all he did at Celtic then go to Leicester and win them an FA Cup, Community Shield get them into a European Semi and multiple top 5 finishes if your a shite coach if he is getting a far better backing than his last stint this could be an amazing period for the club I'm getting behind him I hope most others do HAIL HAIL 💚🍀

Typical comments. Ange bought the best style of play and winning trophies to a team that was a total basket case. Kept the focus on the team and its achievements for everyone to enjoy the celebrations. Never signed nor asked for a long term contract and when the season was over and a bigger league came calling he accepted as every worker wanting a promotion has the right to take. He never left Celtic mid season or manager less during the season. Has never lauded the spurs fans like he did at Celtic, AND has left the club in a fantastic position.
When he left he wanted to go to end of season. He was told to leave there and then by people inside Celtic (think you can guess who). So whatever you think he tried to leave right way at end of season above board and was told to go immediately.
I wasn’t keen on the signing at first but it’s starting to grow on me and he clearly wants to make up for the way he left and if he can keep us winning trophies and make up for his past mistake I’d be able to forgive him 🍀 and he was the best possible option 🍀🍀

I also said that hamish, it took a bit of balls by BR, he could have stayed away, but obviously he thinks its worth the risk, not everyone will be hsllg, but we need back him, and get ready and hit the ground running for a big challenge coming next season.
There’s no doubt Rodgers is a safe, competent, accomplished choice. But I’d have preferred the more daring, Ange-like alternative of Kjetil Knutsen.
Knutsen is 4 years OLDER than Brendan, and in all his years managing ( 28 years) has won 2, thats TWO, trophies. And you’d prefer him to Rodgers???? 🤣

The board was ballsy in appointing Ange - think about it … BALLSY!

There was a philosophy that came to Celtic a couple of years ago that if you don’t want be here then see you later, see you later Ange now you don’t want to be part of us, and a warm welcome back to Brendan that despite everything this is were he want to be, this is who he wants to manage , this is who he wants to be part of, brilliant!

Let's be honest as fans we have no say, I'd agree that we need unity and to get behind the team... which includes the manager... I for one am far from happy with the appointment but I will still back the team through and through because that is the celtic way... Green Brigade need to keep the banners about Rodgers hidden for the time being. Agree with them but I'm willing to see what he dose. Pre season in Japan will say alot about his tactics. He found dembelle and edouard, now he already has jota and kyogo. Imagine what he can add? Centre backs and goalkeeper need to be looked at. Joe Hart needs a quality back up, if any Centre backs get injured or suspended, we're screwed. Is Gregg Taylor Champions League level? Is Bernabei a decent back up? We need a Juranovic type with a left foot. Maybe anothe winger.

Putting things in perspective here.. If Kieran Tierney came back to the Club my guess is he would be welcomed back with open arms and the fans would be ecstatic.. it is the nature of the beast given the amount of money in the English game that they will always attract the top talent.. If someone offered you a career move to the same Job but with double or treble the wage.. it’s a no brainer.. most of us would be out the door in a flash and sprinting to sign on…
Yes BR left us high and dry but really. We don’t know what was happening behind the scenes.. the team had stopped performing so maybe it wasn’t a surprise to them.. remember the last few games under Ange his team took the foot off the gas before again applying themselves in the Cup final and last league game.. maybe they knew Ange was going.. maybe BRs team also knew…
Anyway what’s done is done.. I’m relieved we have got in a decent manager that will keep the run going (hopefully).

People need to move on from the past, get over it and get behind a quality manager. Celtic lucky to have him given that rangers have a quality manager in beale. It wasn't a time to try new things and gamble with other managers in other leagues, great appointment

I'm sickened BR is back but we need to get behind the team no matter our feelings on the boss.
I've begrudgingly come to the realisation that managers and players just want to use us as a stepping stone, that's something that will never change given the direction football has taken in the last 30 years. I'll never get attached to a manager again but I will always back my club
