First time I saw this also. One thing I noticed is how she makes eye contact so directly with the interviewer
OMG! What a gem! I am Norwegian. The interviewer speaks Swedish. Angelina respond in Norwegian. And they both understand each other.
Her father is from Sweden. Heard her singing "Hej tomte gubbar slå i glasen" for her little sister, which is a swedish christmas song. Tomte=Julenisse= Sacta Clause. Ha de! Bye the way it is a drinking song. Raw translation: "Hi Sancta Clause pour into the glass/A short time we are living here/ so let us have fun. "
@@bockviken Is she actually singing "Hej Tomtegubbar" in Swedish? It doesn't sound like she's singing the Swedish lyrics I find online for that song. Can you find (or just type out) the lyrics she's actually singing?

My Swedish is very poor and I’m not familiar with the song, so I don’t know if she is singing in Swedish or Norwegian?

This is a real gem - It sounded like Angelina was coming down with a cold though.
That slight headcold sound she has seems to have been a continuous feature of her younger years, people are constantly remarking on it.
@@lengould9262 some people do seem to have a cold a lot of the time... Angelina may be one but is able to battle through ! :)

Sara mentioned family from the USA in the interview after the final result at NGT, of course we saw Angelina as a three year old in LA with her Grandma and Michael, having the Astar family there must have been one of the reasons for moving to LA in 2018 rather than New York. I hope that you will continue to search through your old archives, maybe there will be some more gems to be found...

Interesting, as a Swede, to hear this interview. The host is speaking Swedish and Angelina is answering in Norwegian, but sometimes the host insert in her questions some Norwegian words where the languages differ. For example Swedish: "tycka om" = Norwegian "like", Swedish "hur" = Norwegian "hvordan".
I'm wondering if you, as a Swede, could type up the lyrics that you hear Angelina singing in this video where she sings "Hej Tomtegubbar" for her sister: czcams.com/video/X6paXKKeAm4/video.html Presumably she's singing the whole song in Swedish (not just the title), but it doesn't sound like she is singing the Swedish lyrics I find online for that song.
I have listened to the short video where Angelina sings ”Hej tomtegubbar”. It was funny, because besides the phrase ”Hej tomtegubbar” it sounds like gibberish! It is neither Norwegian nor Swedish.

I was still nursing my youngest when he passed. My brother had his name for a middle name. He passed 2 years ago. Angelina Jordan's voice is such a balm for my tired heart/soul/spirit. I am Norwegian and can confirm that the translation is accurate. She answers: ''It is a great honor'' as the subs shows. What 8 year old kid answers like that? Angelina.

@@GrandmaEllen Her upbringing has had to be the most perfect for a prodigy of her caliber. The family all together is dynamite in the music industry. She will reach levels that has yet to be seen. I am a very biased Angelina angel saying that. But still.... just listen to her. How on Earth could anything go wrong with her. She has the right mindset too. Everything is there. So at 1 1/2 she was playing all genres of music on CZcams and decided on jazz because it was different from the others. Excuse me, but if that’s not the sign of a musical prodigy née genius, I don’t know what the hell is. At that age most kids are barely talking much less having the ability to logically differentiate between the genres of music and then decide which one you like the best. Then, on top of everything else, she watches CZcams videos and teaches herself how to sing by listening to the greatest ever like Billie, Ella, Dinah, Nina and even Elvis, all the artists who can be identified without a last name. Angelina, or as I like to call her Young Legend, will definitely be one of those artists some day. She will explode upon the music industry like no one before her ever has. Ladies and gentlemen! I give you…ANGELINA!!!!

I recall that Sara said in a post show interview at the semi final that relatives from the US were present, on visit -- but I don't find that clip any more, it might have been taken down.

I was wondering if Manager Uncle Mike lived there before they did. He was already very experienced in the field. And we know she was there at like 3 years old. A video of her running around in a Mall. Could be others, or many others.
@@flyingspaghetti369 I believe he is, on the basis that he was interviewed here, and how he answered and interacted with her, her sister and her mother here. Also others pointed out to this "blonde guy" at the final shows. But I don't know if those have additional Information, like news reports were he actually was identified as her father, or assume it like me just based on this.
PS: The Englisch Wikipedia entry links at Ref. [32 ] to a Norwegian site that identifies him, but as that was only years later after AGT, I would not consider it 100% reliable either. But it confirms my working assumption somewhat...

Thanks Philip, this is a real gem & she's all by herself, although I'm sure Sara & Mery are just off camera. I learned 2 things in this, she was 4 when she first asked to be on NGT, not 5 as I've read in comments. Also, I didn't know she had relatives in California when she was 8. I wonder who it was?
I also learned that my belief that Angelina discovered jazz on her own through CZcams. It's often mentioned in comments that it was her grandmother who introduced her to jazz but I've never heard or seen any mention of that from Angelina. Hopefully we can put that little myth to rest.

I think the LA family own the Funiture shop she sings in . Its on Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood, it has a cafe on the roof.
Other fans noted, that shop is available for rent for filming and even pointed out a YT video of another artist (sorry didnt save the link). Everything around her videos in LA I once assumed to be done as a favor turned out to be a paid job so far.
So I guess the save asumption for everything LA related would be that everything is paid business and there's no personal connection.

As far as I know, Melrose Gallery is owned by an Iranian family. This store (or its products) has been used by Ellen, JLo, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, etc.

Angelina seems to be relaxed. I say that by the expression on her face, and the way she leans in and keeps eye contact, but also feels comfortable to look away and think when she needs to.
Angelina mentioned her family has relatives in LA and the US. I wonder if they are relatives of her Grandmother Mery. I know LA has a lot of Iranians.

In addition to all the other comments, I'm fascinated by how bright Angelina comes across as. I get the impression that she understands everything discussed, but only uses feigned misunderstanding as a delay tactic to give herself time to consider a response, a very intelligent and advanced tactic in interviews. She also seems less concerned about what others in the room think she should say, perhaps this interviewer is more expert at putting guests at ease?
The bit about school made me grin again. Seems a recurring undercurrent of rebellion in her, barely controlled. (eg her rewrite of Winehouse's Rehab). Perhaps grama Mery?
The interviewer was speaking in Swedish. It might be the case of her not quite understanding the question.

Hi, Philip! I've watched this video several times, but it has never occurred to me to ask whether the interview is conducted in Swedish or Norwegian. If it is in Swedish and Angelina is answering the questions in that language, it is the first time I have become aware that she is fluent in the language. Are you able to help, please?
I’m fairly certainly that it’s conducted in Swedish, and I’ve learned that there’s enough similarity between that and Norwegian to make conversation viable. Still impressive however you look at it.

The question arose because a comment in a reaction video asserted that Angelina was fluent in Swedish. It was then I remembered this video and looked to find the information there.
I agree with you. If Angelina could understand sufficient Swedish to answer questions put to her in that language, it is very, very impressive. Unfortunately, it doesn't confirm that Angelina is fluent in the language.
@@alberttenfoot I can confirm the interviewer speaks Swedish (with a few Norwegian words where required), while Angelina answers in Norwegian. This is normal for most Swedes and Norwegians, although certain dialects spoken on both sides of the border can be more difficult to understand for the other nationality.

It's sung by Yazeni Rivera a very dynamic and beautiful young singer who lives in Houston. It has 35000 views on 2 days. I can't stop listening to it.

Yes I listened to it and a version in Spanish by another artist Mon Laferte. I don’t know whether Yazeni captures the emotion of the song quite as well in Japanese. Perhaps she does, and her technique is pretty good if perhaps a little monotonous at times. One to watch certainly.
