I’m not sure what ‘giving her copyrights’ means, because anyone can cover a publicly released song as long as they pay royalties to the songwriters. The words and melody would still belong to Queen.

Hey, Gentlemen. Thank you for your reaction. At this point, she had already been performing on stage, in many concerts in several countries, before huge audiences, for several years. She did this arrangement herself, as she has been doing for several years, and has complete control over her voice. Everything she does is deliberate: choosing when to be breathy, when and how to use her vibrato (over which she has masterful control), when to belt, when and exactly how to use her runs and her vocal fry, etc. When she started off breathy, a capella, she was not "testing the waters" or trying to get comfortable. It was how she arranged the song. Also, because of the time limit in these competitons, she had to compress a huge song into a much smaller time frame, and she did it so masterfully that Queen was impressed enough to allow her to copyright her version.
Patrick, wonderfully explained! Yes, Angelina has complete control of how she sings, and the arrangement of the music. We are very lucky to hear and witness her genius.
Angelina didn’t enter without music because of nerves, nothing is more difficult than starting that way. At 13, she was already a successful experienced singer on stage. Gentlemen, welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan. She started "singing" in her crib at age 1,5 (FACT), discovered Jazz shortly after, and decided to train and practice her craft since age 3,5. At age 4 she started visiting the Music Academy of Oslo, for technical advice. After winning AGT, she got known for her unerring instinct for music. Even musicians of longstanding experiance did aske her for advise, or listened to her recommendations. In late summer of 2014 her people, the populace of Norway, declared her THE NATIONAL TREASURE OF NORWAY. Did it go to her head??? NO.
Even today she is well behaved, friendly and has a patience for others, she lack for herself.

Angelina is the current reigning queen of the jazz genre.
I discovered Angelina 6 years ago & have been addicted to her music & have listened to her vast music catalog every day since then. She was the greatest "child" singer when she was 7-10 yo, but by late 10, she had lost any remnant of a child's voice by then & you can compare to adult singers without the addition of "for her age." By 14 she could stand with the best vocalists from the past & present. Now at 18 she is the GOAT, in my opinion. Up until now she has been heavily protected by her family & even her record label, in order to allow her to have as "normal" a childhood as possible & to allow her to finish her schooling. Now that that's done, they are cutting her loose to begin her full-time adult career. She just had her 1st Los Vegas Concerts last Feb at the Westgate International Theater where Elvis did over 600 shows during his residency. In 2-3 years she will be a household name around the World. I've never seen anyone like her in my lifetime (76 yrs) & it's the first time I've been more than just a casual fan of any individual or band. As others have said Queen was so impressed with this that they posted it on their website with the comment, "Wow, what a rendition." Later they commented "She absolutely killed it" & they gave her the copyright to this version of Bohemian Rhapsody. She was not nervous...she had sung in front of much bigger audience than AGT. Nora Jones concert in Seoul springs to mind. AJ arranged this. Queen loved it .

Never nervous guys...never. She has grown up with a camera on her since a baby...Auditioned and won Norway Got Talent at age 7-8 in front of a live audience and millions on TV, been on countless TV shows, large charity events and Concerts before thousands and twice sang at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies. Has performed before dignitaries, presidents, heads of State and mostly before she reached her teen years...she is an "old Pro" and total professional....this show is a walk in the park for her. She has said in interviews that when she is on stage, never wants to leave, it is her happy place....so Nervous? Not in the least bit. She is likely one of the best Jazz singers of this generation, her breathy vocals and various other jazz techniques are part of it...not being careful, she totally rearranged this (she does a lot of that) and made it fit the constricted time allowed here (genius) The remaining members of Queen posted this rendition on their official Twitter account with this, "Wow what a rendition", and gave her copyright to this version..... her reasons for being bare foot definitely not the same as Van Zandt either. Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Etta James,Whitney Houston, and Adele to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, "Wow, what a rendition!" Having been granted the rights by Queen after her AGT performance, Angelina later sold them to the marketing company....(You first have to have ownership before you can sell your copyright!!)
Angelina is never nervous on stage it's her home like she already said, at 13 years old she already 6 years of stage expérience and sang in front of many thousands of people, what she does with this song is a total reworking she removed the aspect of murder and rewrote the text to fit what she is as she does it often and slows down the tempo to be able to do what she wants with her voice.

Angelina,s life since winning Norske Talenter at 8 years of age has been documented on film, so much so that she may be the most filmed person on the planet. Angelina has been signed to the biggest recording company in the world Republic Records-UMG since the age of 14, but one of the conditions of that signing was that she not be promoted until she reached adulthood.Recently Republic built her a recoeding studio exclusivly for her. She tour over the world since the age of 8, in US, UK, Europe, Middle East, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, etc. At 13, she is a seasoned singer with 5 years of international experience.

Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age appropriate at that time. In addition, Angelina performed an unreleased original song Princess of Ruins at her Las Vegas concerts - if and when that is officially released it will be her 13th original...

Good reaction to a vocal tour-de-force who can't be categorized after just one song! You've done it now. You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (170+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Michael Jackson to Etta James to James Brown to Amy Winehouse to the Beatles (and many others in between) and do them all justice!
If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. Her singing career began in the studio at age 6. She auditioned for Norways Got Talent at age 7, winning the competition after turning 8. At age 13, she was a golden buzzer finalist on AGT Champions and was signed to Republic Records at age 14.
She does all the vocal arrangements herself, even when she was a little kid. The musicians she has worked with over the years have always called her the boss. By age 6 she spoke Norwegian, Farsi, (her grandmother's Persian), and English. She plays piano, guitar, flute and violin. She has done over 200 covers and many originals, couple of EPs, latest EP Old Enough is all original songs.
Her parents have held the music industry at bay for years ensuring that she has a childhood and finishes school first. Part of the Republic Records deal reportedly being that they're not allowed to promote her like their other new artists, I think, until she's 18. Or until she gets out of school, which could mean high-school or college.
I think I read that she's enrolling in an arts school after high school. She did two shows at Westgate Las Vegas this past February 29th, with lots of fan recorded videos out there, unfortunately not always the best quality.
Age 6: Her grandmother who first exposed her to jazz booked studio time for her or this is part of an after school program. I've heard both stories. She recorded 3 songs. Its a very deep rabbit hole but its full of wonder. She has more than 250 videos of covers and originals and every one is arranged by her and is generally an improvement. AJ fans like to say that angelina doesnt cover songs, she uncovers them, reveals their true essence. As good as a singer she is she is an even better human being as you read and very modest. If dimash is king of male vocalists, angelina is queen of all female vocalists.

Everyone has their favorite singers, but for me, Angelina has the most soulful voice which has a positive physical affect on me, like it is hugging my soul. She is easily my favorite singer storyteller, making me feel like I am part of the story. Angelina wrote new lyrics for two famous songs by Amy Winehouse, "Back to Black" and "Rehab" since it was inappropriate for a preteen to sing the original lyrics. For "Back to Black" Angelina wrote the new lyrics in the 24 hours prior to the recording, then needed just two takes.
My only problem with this is that it is too short. The show format only allows 2 minutes. Would love to see a longer version. Thanks guys.
She may have never intended to do the longer version anyway, at least not with the operatic parts. This arrangement was so different, that’s what made it unique. Others have actually covered her version. When she recorded the studio version she did the same arrangement.
Similar to when she recorded Suspicious Minds. It was a totally different arrangement.
@@pjg58x Hi, yes all that is true and I would not expect the operatic part (even Queen could not do that live) but just extending what she has done a little bit would have been nice. I am sure she could have Angelined another small part. Still that's all wishful thinking. With regards to Suspicious Minds it managed to feel like a full song even tho a bit truncated. In that case slowing down the song gave it more depth (IMO).
I'm a 74 year old musician and Angelina is my favorite singer. You need to go back in time and listen to everything she has done from age 7. Your minds will be blown! She is 13 here.

Boy were you mistaken when you said she was probably nervous at the beginning. Angelina has been singing in front of thousands since she was seven and was holding a mic at one and a half. She arranges the music herself pouring in loads of emotion. I think she sang it the way Freddie was really feeling inside at the time.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on CZcams. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on CZcams went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on CZcams. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager.
