One of these two cars has to replace the current NASCAR car. Which one do you choose?
Id go with 2014 - i feel like the effect of dirty air would just be too bad with the G56 car because of all its aero, especially on the high speed ovals where dirty air is already a big problem
Also because 900hp is just awesome, it was so cool back when they were going almost 230mph at michigan
@MrJohansen imagine cars that powerful running down the COTA(challenging for even gen 7) or even road courses that are popping up, or even vegas if the championship is changed to the same weekend as f1 vegas gp(6.2km Street circuit) and several of those cars are charging down the strip backstretch with really long braking zone for the chicane like left turn, that would be a sight to behold, especially since the drivers will have to wrestle the car with less downforce around the vegas gp track like they will perform at COTA, and much louder than f1 cars currently with NA v8 vs turbo hybrid v6

They actually tried something similar back in the late 80s, i believe 1989. It was called the NASCAR LR Series but it was unfortunately cancelled before it began. It had purpose built road course cars that were noticeably different from the oval cars, but still similar. They wouldve only ran on road courses iirc

Everyone says that, yet they literally had the same amount of downforce as the 550 package. The 2014 package suffered the same issues as the 550 with aero washing and the rear air bubble that would push the cars away from each other. The only difference was the power which made the cars more difficult to drive (on short tracks and road courses to be exact)

@DaCopter94 it was still solid on intermediates. Biggest problem was that a few tracks had fresher pavement at the time that offered one grove and extremely high cornering speeds. And the the high horsepower would give the drivers an alternative technique to mitigate the effects of dirty air push. Races like chicagoland, Texas, charlotte, homestead, and auto club were bangers in 2014

The 2014 NASCAR is powerful on the straights while the Garage 56 is powerful on the turns
Garage 56 has racing super soft tyres too.
Weight differential matters too, especially for heavy braking events. 2014 NASCAR a few hundred pounds heavier + more straight-line speed = it’s a bus in slow-medium corners. Garage 56 much lighter overall and was better balanced for the range of corners than 2014 car could have.

The garage 56 car was also most likely detuned to ensure it would survive 24 hours
I will always miss 2014 as season for the fact alone we had 950hp
And also has almost the same bhp as Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak and 1998 Escudo Dirt Trial Car.
I remember 2003 - 2005 when we still had 900+ hp with the best looking stock car of all time imo, the Gen 4 car
imagine being in a Ferrari Hypercar at Le Mans and you get passed by a Camaro Nascar
The G56 Nascar was fast but not that fast to pass a Ferrari Hypercar which is the fastest class at Le Mans

As soon as I seen the first gap G56 had, my instant thought was that unless the nascar could gain a 5 sec gap back by the end where G56 was going to be faster then it was all over

Question about the 2014 specs on the sim - in Michigan, testing trim, they hit 215 (earnhardt) to 220 (biffle) on the straights. J Johnson hit 214 in race trim with nobody in front of him. Wonder why the top speed on the 3.7 mile stretch is only 217? Maybe the setup?
Right. Considering a Gen 4 went 240 unrestricted at talladega. Not sure if it's set up or what, but that cup car should have had a 5 second lead by the end of the Mulsane straight.
@rileymaenhout1732 agree. In my opinion, 230 + on this straight wouldn't be unreasonable. 240 might be possible depending how much downforce/drag in the setup. Brad K's dad hit 271+ mph in the salt flats with a COT generation car and a few aero mods. So it goes to show the huge potential of these cars.
The only thing I could imagine as a problem is the limitation of 4 gears, so 4th would have to be very tall to hit 240, that it would slow down acceleration, or the setup put a shorter 4th to be able to use 4th in other straightaways.

Northstar LMP vs Opel Vectra DTM vs a 2000ish Indy Car with the Oldsmobile engine, all used variants of the same Olds/Cadillac 4 litre V8 engine. A lap time comparison at Spa could be fun.

Why does the garage 56 sound so muffled it should sound just like the gen 6 car!
No they have different exhaust setups. The gen 6 used x pipes and exited out the right side and turned alot more rpm than gen 7 and the g56 cars. Gen 7 has an exit out both sides, and the g56 turned like only 7k rpm to improve the endurance
Gen 7 (NextGen) sounds significantly different to Gen 6. Exhaust setups and all, as the other guy stated.
@@sprinkle581 yeah but the side exhaust on gen 7 makes it sound louder Kyle Larson and some other drivers said the gen 7 car is louder!
@@miketwotwenty But it comes through as deeper and potentially more muffled on screen than Gen 6 did, so it kinda makes sense that it'd be the same on the video game

HERES THE BIGGEST PROBLEM OF THIS that 900 hp motor is going to grenade it self around the 8 hr mark this is why the garage 56 car made it to the end of 24hrs

Big blue(Garage 56) made the pass on the Porsche curve look easy. Side that, from what I was able search up, based off of Big Blue’s fastest qualifying lap at Le Mans, Big Blue is as fast as a 2000 era GT1 car.
And in the race if the G56 got into the draft of the faster car it would basically be parked behind faster car until they came up to a corner.
As a logano fan this hurts 😭

First off, that gen 6 was reving close to 1100 rpms. Anything over 9000 for that era with the restricted horsepower would blow up.
They could easily turn 10,000+ back then but the gear rules kept them from doing so

An actual Nascar will never touch the garage56 car. Test it against a GTE car. The garage56 car was faster. The difference would be significantly more similar to comparing a GTE to an lmp2 with 10+ second lap time differences.

Exactly! That's because cars with higher downforce tend to have more drag.
Garage 56 was built for the curves, the early Gen6 was built for the straights
The Gen-4s were never ripping 11+k RPMs.

I guess the G56 car corners much better. The other car was clearly faster but got destroyed in the turns.
Porsche had a similar problem during the 2024 edition: they were slower in straights than their opponents but faster in corners
And the ferraris were rockets on the straights

The garage 56 car was limited on HP by the FIA. If they didn't, it would have won the overall race, if there were no mechanical issues. They didn't want it to be faster than the hypercars.

Despite two valves per cylinder and pushrods, they still made about the same BMEP as NA F1 engines. Pretty incredible. There’s a SAE paper out there on it.
Really there’s barely 20years difference in time between OHC and OHV.

The Garage 56 Camaro still uses Push Rods since it's the current Gen 7 nascar engine.

It's all due to Gen 6 cars having narrower tires, smaller brakes and solid rear axle. Otherwise I think it could've keep up if not beat the G56 Camaro.

It was sold as a Fusion in the US. The second gen Fusion is the same as the European 4th gen Mondeo.
