  • The "Infinity Shower" is a project I have been working on for a while now. After over a dozen proptypes, we are very happy with how this turned out. In this system we are able to recirculate, filter, and reheat the water from your shower. The key to our system is that we do not store the water between showers, and less than a gallon of water is used when recirculating. This is the most energy efficient and water efficient shower I have found on the market today.
The entire unit is 18" by 18" and 5 inches deep and designed perfectly to fit in the wall of a van shower. This van has a 32" by 24" shower pan.
Please reachout to me if you have any questions and are interested in ordering a kit to install in your van. We are excited to share what we have worked on with the rest of the community.

Thanks for the private emails! By far the best-designed system I've ever seen for a recirculating shower! awesome job!

Awesome idea. Do you happen to have a plumbing diagram of the setup?

I like that you can drain your grey tank from the panel in the shower.

Nice set up. What size drain valves do you use on the system? What induces the spin down filter to drain the 1gal so quickly? Is the filter's drain port also on an actuated valve? Cheers.

This Video is over a year old and the website still wants me to sign up just to be informed when the product is available. Still no clue what the price is and they ask for some kind of consult which is no doubt a hooking for a sales pitch. Also, as far as I can tell, they only do installs, forcing you to wait and pay for something every other company just sells over the counter and can be installed by a cave man (or a Congressman). Stay away from companies that show red flags like this. NEVER give your money to someone who cant tell you the price up front and won't sell you what you need.

Where is the pre filter? The carbon filters that clear down to 1 micron? The UV sterilizer? A spin down filter it’s literally only good for removing things like debris and algae. This is just recirculating dirty water without the other filtering agents installed 🤷🏻‍♂️.

We have a two stage filter. We opted for simplicity, efficiency, and low maintenance rather than trying to sterilize the shower water to the point of potability. We recommend treating the system similar to a bath. Take a quick shower initially to get clean. Then enjoy a recirculating shower for as long as you want.
      Cheers!

The real beauty, and genius of this system, is every shower just uses a gallon of FRESH water. You are not reusing the same water for two weeks or a month or something. You don't need all the filters you just need to get the large debris out so you don't plug up the pump or shower head. Every so often, you probably still want to sterilize the system with a tad of bleach, but the way he's got this designed is you can completely drain all stale water out of the pump via the spin-down filter drain valve. The one thing I was contemplating with my own recirculating shower was doing a pre-wash and then the final shampooing of my hair while it was still wet, but draining or rinsing the soap out in the sink to save my filters. With this setup, you've got the best of both worlds. Rinse with fresh water, enjoy with recirc water. You still do need to heat up the initial 4 gallons or so in your hot water heater, but you don't need to be operating circulating pumps to get what's in your recirculating tank through the hot water tank to heat it. Most of those pumps use seven amps of power or so, it's quite a bit. It can take 20 mins or so to heat the water. 4 gallon + what's in your recirc tank. Here you just heat 4 gallons or so. Personally, I use a heat exchanger, and this design also incorporates that. This allows your hot water heater to be used for cooking purposes without any contamination. The design is very well thought out, and very efficient.

Very nice, BUT, i would say 1 gallon is too small. The issue is that even with a good filter and UV light, the water is not going to remain usable for long in that setup. You honestly need like 20 to 25 gallons for it to properly work and maintain hygiene - and then on top of that, you'd need to shower without soap, or, if you must, with non-petroleum-based soaps. You'd need a box with quick release plumbing so that you can easily take out the filters and clean it out into a small gray water tank to get rid of all the build up, and especially with 1 gallon the filters get clogged real fast.
ideally, you need a multi-chamber system water tank, where the wastewater gets pumped into several chambers, and you could switch between chambers. 1 chamber for rinsing off the oils, grease, skin cells and dirt of your body, which goes into what you could call a 're-usable grey water tank'. with it's own filtration system, and preferably, a chlorine tablet filter (think about swimming pools). then you would want to have your second chamber to switch to, where you use relatively little water, but soap yourself with the most equipment friendly non-petroleum soap (use like a washcloth or sponge), and then rinse yourself off, with that 2nd process. that chamber should have a 'separation' system (again with its own filters too) to seperate water and soap as much as it can so the water stays fresh and not oily and cloudy. again, a chlorine tablet is beneficial.
stage 3, would be your final seperated chamber, where you ONLY use pure water to 'rinse' or 'water' yourself down. All the dirt, fats, grease, etc. have gone off with the first rinse, the soap rinse will have gotten rid of the second, and then you have your third 'cycle' so to speak when you are already, essentially, clean, and the water is the best it can be an will remain. again, it's own filter system.
just add a fast-heater, it may require a high inverter power, but you won't need a boiler or something like that, and though most these systems are like 3 kWh on full power, if you just shower for 6 minutes, that's like 300 watt. it only needs to be below 40 degrees (C) anyway, so actual consumption will be lower.
i'd say you need like a 10 gallon chamber for each, so 30 gallon in total. that way, you can go for a month or 2 on a single tank, and only need to flush out the first filter like once every couple of weeks. the second filter like half of that, and the third filter once every few months. if you install a back-washing valve, you can flush the entire thing out when dumping the reservoir in the gray water waste disposal locations, and then re-fill with fresh water. remember, private swimming pool water, when handled correctly, can last for years without replacement, even though the amount of water is high.
you can have a separate smaller system for your kitchen faucet, where you should have a system for dishes and hand-washing and one for water that you might use for cooking, and drinking water with a separate water dispenser faucet. as such, you'd only need like a 12 gallon for 1 week of drinking water and cooking, and a 10 gallon one for dish-washing. if you use as much bio-degradable papers ( and bio-degradable baby wipes ) to clean off the dishes directly after using, and use non-stick frying pans and airfryers / oven, paired with 'oven paper' your actual water need for 'dishes' will be minimal.
drink soda's and beers straight from the bottle or can and your water usage will remain minimal and so will your water consumption.
yes, you will need a total of 53 or more gallons of water aboard anyway, which has it's weight and space usage, but will benefit you in the long run if you are out multiple days or weeks, especially those truly living 'van life'.
if you shower once every 2 days, perhaps 3, (doing vanlife) you will also decrease water contamination. If you pair that to using the shower in public showers (where available and clean) you will greatly reduce your water usage.
the secret is always balance. you will need your filter set for each chamber, minus the UV light which is only needed pre-heater, and you will need chlorine tablets for each chamber albeit your chlorine level for the third (pure water) due to the lesser contamination can be minimal.
This system would be absolutely monsterously good to build if you'd be living out of a schoolbus or actual truck, where you could haul a lot more water with you. as long as you keep a low-wattage using stirring device / small pump to make sure it does not become 'standing' water, you can use the water for a relative long time. investing in a proper (digital) pool testing kit will help you keep an eye on the PH and other health levels.

Wow. Very complex. I think the beauty of the infinity showers system is its simplicity. And they drain the water after every shower. So there are no holding tanks of dirty water.

No, you didnt understood it properly:
The water is completely renewed for each shower. The recirculating fonction is for this small quantity of water that will be used only once for one shower.

It s very clean in my opinion for having a very similar system. This one is better regarding of the "self cleaning" filter.
