      Hey do you know is it the same with sub 250g drones as well? This seems so restrictive...

    •  Před rokem

      Yes. When @TimelabPro came to shoot for Istanbul, we got the drone permissions. But we faced all the difficulties you faced in Rome, even though we had permission. And I learned this, even if you have permission, fly a drone like you don't have it.

      Listen
      Ur only option is to fly a drone from the balcony of your hotel or apartment !...
      That is flying discretely!...
      No GOVERNMENT will allow a foreigner to get a permit to fly even an insect in its air field !...

    One of the main problems in most countries is that aviation authority and the regular police are never in sync. Yes, you get a permit from aviation, but the police might have hard time to check your permit. Or in most cases they are lazy and it is easier for them to deny you, than go through the process and check your permit.

    Wow. Fantastic footage, in one of my favourite places. I cant believe the effort you had to go to, to get approval to fly your drone. It shows that you really need to prepare and have perseverance to get all approvals completed prior to your arrival and even more so, to politely ask again for permission with the on duty security and police. Well done, and thanks for sharing some of your spectacular footage. Cheers, Adam.

    Hey Sean, wanted to start by applauding the guts and shots you captured with the Mavic 3 in this video. It is a fantastic drone but has lots of bugs on the bypass technology - you've got some guts and I respect that!! I was also going to ask your advice on a situation I've got. I sent you a message on instagram with more details, but I'm traveling to Rome, Pompeii, and the Amalfi coast in May 2023. I have the same Mavic 3 as you, and because my residence is in the states, they won't grant me the C1 certification. Do I need to go through the identical process to you, then, and what agencies do I need to be certified with to be allowed to fly in places like the colosseum? Any help would be appreciated 🙏🏻

    You shot very well, thanks to you, we gained experience, it is the same in Istanbul, but there is no permission from the civil aviation site at all, you can send a mail to the general directorate of Ankara, the capital of Turkey, by post and continue after you get a response from them. Alternatively, if you see the police nearby, you can go and stay here for 10 minutes. I want to fly a drone, can I fly a drone? You can ask, you can show the Instagram pictures and say "I take very good shots", they usually give permission after they are convinced, I didn't have any problems, but you never know.

    Hello. I have flown to different EU countries as I have registered my drone. I have the certification but not required to for my drone which weighs less than 250g. I downloaded the local drone map and avoid flying areas marked no fly zone. As long as I follow the guidelines and regulations laid by EU AA, I don't need to get additional approvals from any one to fly my drone anywhere in EU, provided I fly my drone following appropriate procedures. So I am surprised why you have to write emails and messages to get approvals. Is this because you wanted to fly on restricted zones with drone weighing over 250g?

    The government and aviation of Italy ask for many permits to be able to fly and even if you comply, they will not let you because of their bureaucratic problems and poor communication between departments, they should simplify the processes since even without the permits they are so poorly organized that the DJI app says that you can fly and lets you take off.

    Great video and it really goes to show how ridiculous the regulation of drones is getting. I don't really understand who is being protected by all of this bureaucracy around flying a drone. Someone with malicious intent isn't going to be stopped by all of these forms, etc. I think a lot of the drone legislation, especially for recreational/hobbyist fliers, is driven by FUD. I don't see why it isn't sufficient to just have an automated system like LAANC where you register your license and insurance info, where you're going to fly, etc and be done with it...and this should *only* ever be required for urban/highly-populated or sensitive areas. It seems easier to own and use a firearm than a drone.
    That's why I really enjoy the sub-250g drone category in Canada - it's pretty open with what you can do with a microdrone. I'd love to travel and tour Europe one day, but I'd also like to be able to use my drone without having to submit to a cavity search. 🤣

  • @izoyt
    @izoyt Před 2 lety +3

    Ah yes, good old arrogant italian police and military in big cities, combined with useless bureaucracy (i know, i know, not all are like that, but still, it does make a pattern, for sure)..
    Eu drone pilots are more or less aware of this kind of things in general, it is really americans, chinese etc, that should be informed about this, since they're ones that are usually flying clueless or ignorant and flying wherever without any permissions etc (i can at least tell for my country). But as a drone operator with eu a2 license i must mentioned few things!:
    The whole idea of EU drone directive, which we got in 2019, was to harmonise rules all around EU, where drone certificates, licenses etc should be excepted equally etc. If you got permission to fly at some exact date and location (with fly route and all that submitted) from state air agency, that should be it! It is not not military, nor police, who can give anything official about airspace use, nor they should be asked at the end. Yes, they have authority to check you up etc, but if you have sorted all by the book, that's it, official procedure should be over then. And yes, I am aware, that big european city centres etc are at risk of terrorism, there's a lot of protection of heritage buildings, also lately of all stuff happening in Ukraine etc, i all get that. But on the other hand, why then we have laws, why we went with all the training, exams, costs etc etc, if this is not used? It is actually kind of ironic, since main speaker from EASA, that was 1st frontman when they have been touring EU and presenting new EU drone legislation, was italian. So you would kind of believe, Italy would be 1st of eu members, that would have all this drone nonsense sorted, but as we can see, it is far from that.
    Second thing about this eu drone story is pre fly info submission. Majority of eu states have online apps etc, where you can get al info about fly restrictions, no fly zones etc, some even have ability to send fly route and ll that directly before the flight, and if it get authorized with green light, you're good to go after that (which is really only way to be, since you can't be sure about weather etc 1 month ahead or something, total nonsense). Yes, Italy have app as well, but it does not have true direct flight submission, it is not really developed for non italian users etc (where by eu law, all this should be done with bi-lingual support, all eu members should have access etc). And Italy it not only one, that haven't this sorted out, to be honest. So, if any of people, responsible of all things mentioned, are reading this, please do make an effort of make things better. Thank you.

    If the drone is under 250g I think you can fly pretty much anywhere

  • @eparustefan
    @eparustefan Před 2 lety

    Sadly until 2023 in Eu you cannot fly drones that have +500g over people and buildings so even with permit be carefull. If the boys from drone flight autorithy are in the area with an Dji Aeroscope they will know this thing. The Police and military don't know this particulary thing and you can trick them. It weird and stupid but what can we do. I speak from experience becausue i live in europe and the drone authority in my country told us that even with city permit and all the pilot certifications. So you can fly in urban areas or near people with drones over 500 grams(under 2kgs) but you need to keep in mind the minimum distance in normal mode is 30m, in slow speed mode is 5 m, and the rule 1/1 on vertical and horizontal distance from the people.
