What is your GPU situation? Are you thinking of buying now or waiting? What games are you playing? Tell your story in a new comment below!
I'm probably gonna swap out my RX6600 Eagle in PC #2 for an RX6600XT which has been Replaced with an RX7600XT in PC#1
The last Nvidia cards I bought were a 2080Ti (now pretty much dead) and then a 2070 Super, and I probably won't be buying Nvidia going forward. My top two "gaming" systems are running a 7900XTX and a 6800XT. I won't be upgrading any time soon.
I've been planning and right now buying the components for my first 1080p build + phericals but since here in italy everything costs quite a bit more then the usa (especially ram wich is around 50 more, gpus are from 40 to 70 more and everythin else is around 10-20 more) it has been hard to decide whether to go with am4 or am5,at the end i decided to go with am5 since i would like to be able to upgrade to a ryzen 7800x3d and a rx 7900xtx in the not too far future but for now i have ended up going with a ryzen 7600,rx 7600xt with a B650M Pro RS non wifi moba(this moba was just 130 which here in italy is basically the cheapest not bad am5 moba that you can find) + other usual components for around 1100 euros and a nice 180hz monitor for 150 and a 50 euros keyboard, it's a bit sad that if i would have gone with am4 i would have been able to get a rx 7700xt build for a bit less but i wanted to be on the newest platform since of how quickly the pc building world is developing
Well, I'm waiting for reasonably priced and worthwhile upgrade for 6950XT. It doesn't exist yet.
But since I have pretty solid GPU already, I can wait for new generation or 2. Depends on how GPUs are priced in the future.
Jason do you happen to know if any of the 7900XTX cards use the reference PCB?
*crying in Canadian market where nothing ever drops and the base price is 2x that of the US*
Yeah, we always get shafted on consumer electronics. I play old and indy games now, and do my other hobbies. Leather jacket man can stuff it.

Make an american friend who can buy your GPU for you?
We should just ditch CAD and switch over to USD at this point. Shit's pointless. Lol

Hey Jason I don’t know if you had seen it but Newegg had a crazy flash sale something like a week ago and I got a 7600X for $179 plus a free M.2, so I figured I’d say something in case it happens again. Thanks for the vids they really helped with my planning for my new build!
I look forward to this monthly roundup and Spreadsheet. Thank you so much @PC Builder team!
Thanks Matt! So glad its helpful. I do love a good spreadsheet (;

awesome channel brooouuu, need your advice about gpu's, should i prefer newer gpu and less gb? or viceversa... example should i get a 3060 12gb or a 4060 8gb... all benchmarks goes to 4060...
have a great week
Keep up the great work thanks man!!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy!
Any recommendations to upgrade from a 3070? Don't get me wrong, it plays nicely in 1440p ~ 144hz but I want more lol. I've always been an Nvidia fan and the 4000 series software upscaling and frame rate sounds appealing, but looking at the AMD 7900 series is super appealing and has nice prices. I'd like to stay at $1000 for a card for a nice upgrade. I'm looking to get a 4K 144hz monitor to play on once everything gets upgraded
Sold my 4090 for more than I bought it for 8 months ago and replaced it with 7900xt for $699 👌 (I play 1440p 240hz)
Nice!!
Amazon was selling them for $399 at one point.
Prices going down is always excellent news. Have a great weekend, Jason & crew! ✌
Hi Thomas! Join us today in the channel member live stream at 1pm EST if you can (:
Are then actual VALID (data backed) concerns about the "lesser" board partners? I'd be interested in seeing data on performance and of course reliability
I bought a 34” 1440p ultrawide to go with my 7900xt and it’s simply amazing.
I have the xfx Merc version (got in December for $709) and no complaints or regrets.
Also just got an Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 240 off Amazon for $88! 😮 A literal steal. Looks amazing and cools the 7600X with no trouble.
Oh, and playing CoD, Battlefield and Hell Let Loose these days.
Fantastic!
where did u get the 7900xt?
@@LOVIATHAN it was on Newegg at that price, right after Christmas but just before the new year.

What monitor did you get? Do you recommend it? I'm looking to part together a whole setup, and was curious what monitors people recommend for around 7900xt performance ^*^
Hi guys. What GPU would be best to pair with i7-10700k.i Have 32gb RAM. I want to maximize potential of the system and dont bottleneck it. Please advice. Thank you 😊

I’m glad to see it. I’m still a ways off from building a new rig (money is tight and I need to get a “new” car soon) so hopefully by the time I’m looking to start buying, next gen stuff is out for GPUs and CPUs and this gen will drop even more

Hey Jason I was wondering what would be a good range of graphics card to use in a dedicated streaming pc? Separate from my gaming one I mean? I want to start streaming, and I want the quality to be good, but I'm not sure how much power and performance I'll need.
The good news is a strong gaming GPU is also a strong streaming GPU. The same rules apply when building a pc for streaming as gaming. For example my gaming/streaming pc is the 7600 7900XT on the desk next to me. So it really comes down to your budget and the games you are looking to play. Check out our "how to pick pc parts" 2024 video for more
Hi jason! I'm getting ready to purchase a pre-built rig after watching your video last month. I'm getting the RDY Fractal RROO2 from ibuy power. Ryzen 7 7800x3d, AMD Radeon RX7900xtx-24gb32gb, ddr5-5600Mhz rgb ram. My question is, can I buy a 4k monitor and run it at decent fps with these components? Or should I go with 1440p? Thx for the awesome informative video. 👍👍👍, Joe
You can definitely get a 4K Monitor
Jason can u please include ultrawide resolution in your considerations as well, it always gets overlooked by everyone
We cover this in our Best Gaming Monitor 2024 video! For ultrawide and multiple monitor setups I generally recommending going up one GPU level from what you'd normally get for the resolution/fps you want.
Nice Excel table! Like to see one more column related to price:fps/watt!
Glad you enjoyed! The FPS is covered in the performance section based around the comparison to the 3060 12 gb. The watt is a little too complicated for me to include here I think but check out our Best PSU 2024 video for lots more on how to think about build wattage
what is the best GPU with high frames on 1440 p? thank you
Could you do a best headset/headphones video for 2024? Ik its not pc part stuff but technically it is needed for gaming/working.
Keep up the good work my friend!
Yeah, this shows the pricing that I already knew about when I asked your (and several other tech guys') opinion about how far I should go with my upgrade. I think no matter how you cut it, the 6000 series will be gone by the time I'm ready to buy, so I'm only looking at 7000 series.
So the question is, for 1440p 40-50fps 1% lows high settings and ideally minimal to no upscaling, and for me wanting to keep an AM4 system for the next 5yrs (aka until AM6 and DDR6 are mainstream), do you think I should get a 5600/5600X3D(if I can ever find one again) and the 7700xt, or save more than I initially wanted and ball out on a 5800X3D and a 7900gre?
I have a 750w psu, B450 Asrock Fatality (if that's any sort of limiting) and I'll also have to upgrade my ram to 32gb, not to mention a max card length of roughly 310mm and 3.5 slot width. I'm upgrading from an R5 2600, 16gb 3200mhz CL14 or 15, and an EVGA 1070 FTW.
Nice one jason. I asked for a 6700xt for Christmas because of your recommendation of it and its been great.
That's great to hear! Glad we could help
An AMD Christmas is a Merry Christmas !!!
What’s the coolest running CPU? Looking to do a Fractal Terra build.
cannot answer this question. If you wan a really cool CPU. get a very low-end one with a massive fuckign cooler?
Hi!
What motherboard do you recommend for ryzen 5 5600, that has already updated bios or has flashback update available in a range if 80-120$, and also has USB-C! Thank you for your answer!
Asus
can you rate the different aibs by brand in terms of price to quality? I'm pretty sure the reference cards are the minimum performance, but which aib makes the "best". I value low noise and overclocking potential. Actually, which aib to avoid may be even more helpful, as not buying something bad is more valuable to know than what is best, imo.
these updates are pure relaxation at this point. I already have a 4070 super and I know it may be outpaced by VRAM demands, but I still watch all these updates anyway
I got the ASUS 7800XT for $520 a month ago. This run runs extremely cool. They've overcooled it to the point where its fans don't even need to turn on unless you keep it under a sustained 100% load, and even then it runs cooler than any GPU I've ever had.
Nice!
I really appreciate your information, it's one of the best around and let me tell you that your figaro (black cat) is awesome.
So glad you're enjoying the content, thanks a lot! And Mr. Bear appreciates it :))
Just ordered the Alta G1M. So it's going to be fun to migrate my pc into a new exciting case 😊
Probably not going to replace my 4070 Super. Unless it's still noisy in its new case and position. But it's going further away from my head so fingers crossed that it solves it.
so whats the best option for me ? I have an r5 7600x
So finaly, to avoid divorce, i switch for amd gpu. Happy wife, happy life...
That's what I'm thinking 😂😂 I don't want the wife to kill me if I drop over a grand ona gpu
As always, great video.
Why thank you! Hope you keep enjoying all the new content :)
Nice video as always, may i ask what do u think is better to get 4060 8gb or 3060 12 gb if they are in the same price range.
the 12 gb. You don't want an 8 gb GPU in 2024. See our Best GPU for Gaming 2024 video for more on this
Ive had a 6800xt for the last year and a half , i can comfortly game and wait a long time at 1440p . When i up grade to a 4k OLED sometime then i will have to be selective about which games i can get acceptable 4k proformace from till i can upgrade to a faster 4k gpu.
Is there a significant difference between 4.0x16 GPUs versus 4.0x8 GPUs?
The reason I ask is because I currently have a Red Devil LE 7800XT and willing to sell/trade for the Acer BiFrost Predator 7900 GRE when it releases…but noticed that specific GRE model is x8 while mine is x16.

Hey chat my buddy has a i5 11400f and gtx1660 super or ti idk. Is the arc a770 or rx7700 a good upgrade? He plays balder gate, hell divers, and some competitive shooters like apex and r6 siege. He has a 144hz 1080p monitor and not planning on upgrading monitors. And his pc is a asus strix g10 in case you wanted to know.
Yes either is a good upgrade. I would go A770 because it's cheaper.

Mr. Bear appreciates the attention from you ;) Thanks for tuning in!
Would you recommend the 6800xt or the 7800xt considering the 7800xt is 50$ more?
Brand new? If you need av1 coding then get the 7800XT. Both perform equally.
If same price 1080 TI or 5700 XT?
Everytime there is a pricecut in the US the price in Sweden goes up, always crashing up somehow.. the darn 4070S's are climbing over 820-840 USD, the only thing thats slightly cheaper is the 4090 that came down from like 2,4-2,6k.. but then again i dont want a blastfurnace next to my clackers.
Hey jason. Can you help me? I need a pc for premiere (50%) and fortnite (30%), photoshop and illustrator (10%), other stuff (10%). Which cpu and gpu should i go? 7900xtx with an higher ryzen or intel?

Hey Jason, just a quick question regarding upgrades. I'm working with a prebuilt that has a A320mh motherboard (cpu Ryzen 5 2600, gpu RTX 1660). I'm researching if I should upgrade the motherboard to then upgrade the cpu (Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 5800) and gpu(RTX 3060 12gb or RTX 4070 12gb). BIOS updates are available for the A320mh to allow up to Ryzen 5000s. I'm struggling to find answers. Do I need to upgrade my motherboard? if not, what would be some issues that I would face with an older motherboard?
Switch out motherboard a cheap b550 is like 89$ and the biggest problem I think you might have is power supply limits. I mean if you at something like rtx 4070 or Rx 7700 xt it could damage things if the psu can't handle it, that's an old pre built with low power components so I assume PSU is gonna be an issue
@@josecorrales7195 currently running a gigabyte P550B 550W 80+ Bronze. So should I just upgrade to a Ryz 5 5600 with a 3060? or is swapping out a motherboard more beneficial to then allow more future improvements?
I don't think you need to replace the MB if you are moving to the 5600 or 5800. I just recently did a similar type thing for my boy. The only issue was that I had to keep the old cpu in for the bios update, and after the update the MB wouldn't even boot with the old cpu(1600x). Unfortunately I put the 5600 in first and it didn't even get to bios so had to swap back to the old one to do the update. Nothing terrible, but sure was a waste of time. The only thing I'd say to really watch out for is that power supply. If you get a reboot or brown-out even once don't even try and turn it back on til you get a new one.
Hmm...what should I do...and what should I buy…
I do not buy new when new comes out. For example - my last upgrade was around 2015 and I am still rocking the i7-6700k with a GTX 980 TI .
I do however want to start gaming more and be set for another ~ decade.
I don’t completely have a budget as I will use these parts for many years. I want to be top/ near top performing now so my performance can trickle throughout the years.
Don’t know if you covered this today or in the past since I’m at work right now, but Micro Center is having this bundle sale for a CPU, RAM, and a motherboard which I think is extremely great value. Just wanted to let you know
I'm building a new pc and holding out for memorial day. Hopefully we get some good sales then
Prime day in July I expect some sales. Memorial Day isn't usually a lot but you never know
@@PCBuilderChannel I can hold out for prime day too. I'm not in a rush, it just doesn't seem like prices are coming down a lot further than now. I do have a microcenter close to my house though, so fingers crossed
I wanna make my new gaming pc but i am kinda clueless. I am looking to stream on twitch games like WoW , Lol , Tft who are not so demmanding. Is it an overkill to go for an RX 7900 XT or shall i go for the more midrange gpus you mention ? I am aiming for 1440p gaming.
It's not overkill but it's also not necessary. The 7900GRE is a great 1440p GPU so no need to spend extra to get the 7900XT.
Not terrible overkill. Check out our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video, I think that will help you think through what you need
Is there a reason the 6900 and 6900xt weren't shown at the beginning of the video with the other AMD cards? Are they discontinued? Or is it just better to buy a 7000 series card?
It's just hard to find them in stock in the US. They're still good options if you can find one at a good price.
I am planning to get a new graphics card but I am so confused. I have i5 10400F with MSI B560M A PRO and my options are A750, A770 and RTX 3060 12GB. What do you suggest? Please help.
A770 is good.
I need some advice. I have a 3090 ROG Strix white oc atm. should i stay at it or should i sell it and go up to a 4070 Ti Super? Does it make sense or not?
I’d go with 4080 super instead if your pc is compatible tbh
So for the 7900xt, what CPU would you recommend that won’t bottleneck at 1440?
7800X3D if you have the budget for it! See our 7800X3D build guide we launched on the channel today. Otherwise 7600, we have a build guide for that on the channel as well
@@PCBuilderChannel thank you 🙏🏼
Jason, I have a Nitro 7900xtx. Am I "wasting" the power of the GPU by getting the Alienware 3423DWF (1440p monitor) instead of a 4K monitor? I supposed it depends on the games I play but I play older games like DOTA, FPS like Halo Infinite, but would also like to play modern titles like Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16, and some Forza. Should I shoot for a 4K non-OLED or the highly reviewed ultrawide 1440p Alienware OLED?
Either is good, but a 4K Monitor would be cheaper.
Hey! I never knew Saul Goodman makes tech videos on CZcams! 😂

The RTX 4080 is $950 at Best Buy for the Founders Edition. I was hoping to hear your opinion on that pricing.
Not in Canada they are still charging rip off prices here.
On Amazon the Intel arc a580 finally came. And they are asking $379 for it. Should be the same as the US but with an exchange of $243 cad.
Its cheaper to buy a750 than a580 lol.
That's really frustrating!
@@PCBuilderChannel a750 is $339 to 379 Newegg and $329cad Amazon

@Technocrat I Feel your Pain! I just dropped $389.00 Cdn. for a Ryzen 7 5700x3D !!
Stick with the used market. Don't reward the F U Canadian pricing.
Is the 7700XT still really that much better than the 7600XT? The VRAM difference isn't as big a deal considering the cores?
Just search techpowerup RX 7600 XT specs.
They have a chart of relative performance. RX 7700 XT is 33% faster. A sizable gain and next class up in performance.
Is a 750 watt PSU enough to handle a PC configuration featuring an RTX 3080 Ti graphics card and a Ryzen 5 7600 processor?
Looks like you found the PSU video so you can follow the method there to see more.
Perhaps a wise hardware man can help me.
Last year i built my own pc from scratch, it was an AMD system with a Powercolor 7900xt. I wanted a card that I could really push, to get some really impressive graphics power to run warhammer total war 3. However the coil whine is near intolerable whenever the card pushes even a little bit, and the supplier and manufacturer just say oh coil whine is a standard by product ofd high end graphics card and wont do anything about it... 9 months on I could try and sell this card even though it runs well but is that bad practise since it has coil whine?
I just ordered all the components for a new build, going to be a 7800x3d and 4080 super build. I'm so damn excited. I'll be upgrading from a 3060, the 3060 just wasn't cutting it since I recently upgraded to an lg c3 display.
So glad I watched your videos when shopping for my nephew. I bought an XFX 6750xt for $309 and it is AMAZING. Helldivers 2 looks and runs great at 1080p High settings, and it’s almost as enjoyable as my 4070 super.
Hello sir, good video and definitely gave a little more clarity on my options however I do have a question. I am in Australia and the prices are so different and there's so much information online regarding GPU's (i.e. rasterisation, ray tracing, poor consumption adding to cost, etc.) and each person has their own opinion. I am no expert on this stuff. I play 1440p 144hz and have a pretty outdated GPU so all the choices are a clear upgrade. I want something that I won't have to upgrade for a while. In the price bracket are 7700XT - $599, 4060 ti 16GB - $679, and 7800XT - $769 (plus I will probably need a new PSU to be safe with this one). 4070+ and 7900 GRE are a fair hike above these prices and are too expensive for what I am looking for. In your opinion what is the choice here? Or is there value in waiting?
I'd say this depends on your current CPU. See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video, I think that will help you decide what's best for you
You missed a note in the "I'm Jason" intro. Just having fun Sir. Great informative video no doubt.
No info on the 6800 / 6800xt?
Hello, I have an I7 10700 comet lake cpu, gigabyte z490 Aurous elite AC, 32 gddr4 ram and a XFX 319 SWFT 6800xt gpu. I TRY to game @ 1440p 120htz. Should I upgrade total system now or wait next year? Looking at a AM5 build.
I play FPS mostly. Cyberpunk, COD, BF2042 and others plus I enjoy survival games, Red dead 2, skyrim stile games.
I would say wait only because new AMD CPUs are coming sometime this year.
My thinking either they'll be really good CPUs that are worth the wait or they won't be worth it but they'll drive down the price of 7000 Series CPUs.
Now is still a good time to build though so don't feel like you need to wait.
@@kelley09162 I agree. I think waiting is the way to go my system still gets the Job done with the current games im playing. This next upgrade is going to have to be a total overhaul.
Are 4080 super cards coming with new H++ connector?
I don't think that's what it's called, but yeah it's some weird name and mine came with it
I have a 7800X3D. What is the minimum GPU for 2 sets of 2K 165mHz IPS monitor, please?
Minimum I'd pair with this CPU is a 7900GRE or 4070 Super. Go higher if you can to power this two monitors. See our new 7800X3D Build guide video on the channel for more
Suggestion of choice for 4K or 1440p gaming? I am building a new pc just for gaming. Build is going to use ryzen 7 7800x3d and 7900XT gpu. Would choose to get a 4K monitor or 1440p? Would be playing only current games or newer ones that come out.
Either would be fine. I would say if you go 1440p a 240hz one would be good.
Yea was looking at 240 for the 1440 and 144 for the 4K. Still kinda on fence just looking for info and input. Thanks
@@jimmyparkinson5540 if I had to pick I would go 1440p 240hz just because it's cheaper.
And the MSI G274QPX is a good choice.
I just love the positive energy from you 😅😂😅
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the video!
I called my own friend a bot when he got here quicker than me after I recommended the channel to him. Jason deleted my comment. Can't blame him. He truly is devoted to keeping it real. It's nice.
@@PCBuilderChannel I sure will!

yo do u recommend the 6750 xt im thinking of getting an upgrade
Absolutely, but it depends on the rest of your system if its the right upgrade for you. Check out our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more
got mine yesterday, upgraded from rx 6600
I've been drooling over building a rig for months now. It's just in the budget and still be worth it over my xbox. Hopefully prices will still be good by the end of summer
I bought a gigabyte m32u under your advice and I can't be happier! Thank you Jason! And lots of love to Mr. Bear!
is the sapphire pulse rx 7900 xtx worth it? i was about to buy a 4070 ti super but they are literally the same price in Brazil ...
If using it for Gaming definitely
4070super vs 7900gre for gaming and streaming games like warzone , gta roleplay and much more?
Can't go wrong either way but I'd go gre over the 4070s
WITHOUT ANY DISRESPECT, you really remind me of Jimmy McGill
Better Call PC Builder!
I think Jason is as Powerful as Bob Ordonek's other role: NOBODY !!
Another perfectly timed video. I've been sitting on "Should I wait?" for a while now. This definitely cleared it up for me. I'm going to pull the trigger ona 7700XT. I've got a Ryzen 7 3700X to go with it, which shouldn't (or maybe might barely) bottleneck it. I definitely feel like I should upgrade. What's the best AM4 chip I should slot into the board to match that GPU? Or should I even bother with the AM4 socket CPU and spend just a bit more money to get myself into an AM5 socket?
7700XT is a great choice! Depending on your motherboard I'd drop in a 5700X3D personally. That will do great for you now and set you up for major GPU upgrades in the future if you wanted them. Check out our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for more on that
@@PCBuilderChannel I've got an MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk from a few years ago, updated to latest firmware. I know, a bit of overkill for gaming, but I didn't know as much about building computers when I picked it up a few years ago.
Good to know this happened after I bought my GPU 2 weeks ago
Wanted to upgrade from my 6700xt to a 7900xt or xtx but the power draw on those cards is keeping me from upgrading. Decided to wait for the 8000 series hoping they improved on that.
Apevia 850watt PSU for 70$ will help, that's what I have along with Rx 7900xt. What PSU do you have
Would you say the PNY 4070 Ti Super is worth getting if I can get it for 200 dollars less than the Asus and other brand versions? Love your videos!
Yes, see our Best GPU for Gaming 2024 video for more on the differences to look out for
@@PCBuilderChannel Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help and all your videos!
I might buy the 7800xt for my 7800 ryzen 7 and later when there are the new gpus I will upgrade and sell it later this or next year. Good idea?
I know the 7800x3d is overkill but for future proof i though it would be a good idea combined with 64gb cl30 6000 ddr5 ram
Yes though the 7900GRE would be an even better GPU option with the 7800X3D if you can afford it.
I always look forward to a Saturday morning video. Great content every time.
Love to hear it! Thanks so much!
So should I just grab the 4070 Ti Super now instead of waiting for the 5070?
Mid to High ill choose the 4070 OC (base on prices in Canada)
If they ever make a single fan 40 series I’d probably buy 1
someone at work showed me 4k 100+fps, and path tracing.. i didnt want to buy an expensive gpu if I was just going to buy a 50 series card. You helped me decide to wait by showing used prices. I ordered my pc parts for a 4k rig and picked up a 3060 12gb and 240hz 1080p monitor for 400cad used. this will hold me over till I get most likely a 5080. In a week or so I wont be using my old nitro 5 gaming laptop(rtx1050) soon, I will not miss this laptop.
In Germany 7900 GRE is from 650€ and the asus model is 720€ I think it’s very expensive , while the 7800XT is 600€+ ish, what do you think of the prices in Europe?
Don't forget about VAT. In Germany VAT is included. Murricans don't do that. Their prices are without VAT.
I recently got the LG ULTRAGEAR 27gr95qe and using it with my xbox for now. I'm looking to build my first PC, what is the best GPU/CPU combo?
Depends on your budget
@kelley09162 I would rather not go for the 4090 if I don't need to. I was thinking the Ryzen 7 7800x3d but wasn't sure on the GPU
@@CraigM32 you definitely don't need to. The 7900XT or 7900XTX would be a great option for you and yes that CPU choice is what I would recommend.
