  • Only a short episode this time in preparation for building the safety protocols for the used lithium batteries going into the self built campervans electrics I've installed the Victron battery monitor so I can keep a close eye on what's going on and trigger relays if need to.

      ni smi that’s currently thats what I’m playing around with a today. Do a lot research onto different setting people are using and why.

    I would have mounted those large isolators at 90° so that when on the handle is vertical, and off is horizontal. That would imply that there is a barrier across the cable when in the off position. I hope this comment makes sense.

    Great video Alex thankyou. Background soundtrack most annoying, sounds like a ticking clock when you are talking.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  Před 2 lety

      Hmmm. Ticking clock might be a audio issue I have with the external microphone on the camera. The ticking noise might be a issue when the Bluetooth & WiFi is still on the camera. Anyway apology

    Very important to know the state of charge. Takes a full charge or 2 to learn what 100% actually is. I use wizard Jr. With my midnite solar kids. I wish it had the Bluetooth!

      To simply figure out the State of charge I’ve been using their stabilised voltage after a charge at the moment , the SOC in the diagnostic software isn’t particularly accurate at the moment due to the lack of real use in a long time. When I have them installed in the van our then be able to do some more tests.

      Definitely me too, I’m adding a few extra bits to the System to act as safety disconnects as the BMS in the U27-12XP can’t do much In that regard and a don’t have their external U-BMS

      Neither do I and most aftermarket options are over priced.
      I plan on using seed starter mats & temp controlled realay they plug right into with standard plug. Each 10x20in mat uses 15w and should keep warm enough to avoid changing below temp

      Low temperature charging I planning on using the Victron BMV-712 with the temperature sensor, the BMV-712 has a build in relay which can be preset to trigger by a number of things. I’m using to the over-voltage and low temperature trigger to trip the reply which il will connected to the remote On/Off pins on my Victron MPPT and Dc/Dc charger to turn them off. Undervoltage is handled by the Victron battery Protect.

    Sorry, this is not an electrical question, but it relates to the shot at 7:45 in this video. What did you do with those styrofoam things behind the upper driver and passenger doors? I had herd they had airbag wires in that area. What are those styrofoam things for? Do they have a real purpose? Also what is holding up your cubby shelf now that you removed the liner above it? Thanks for the help. Trying to decide if I should pull that stuff like you did or keep it. I like your curved ceiling, so I want to pull that stuff out.

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  Před 4 lety

      No problem, there are wooden batons attached to the metal work of the van there. the shelving then has batons attach to it and get screwed together. For me no wires there at all. Maybe that’s on the minibus version for the airbag wires? I have seen the styrofoam things you talk about on there Mk8 but there were no in mine.
      By cubby self do you mean the shelf above the cab? That’s bolted into to original holes it has always been. It’s a pretty heavy duty metal shelf which came with the van

      @jeffsteinmetz7188 Před 4 lety +1

      Mispronounced Adventures Oops that should have been cubby shelf. Yes, the shelf above the cab.
      Thanks for the help!

    Hi keep up the good work love your videos just have one question I’m looking to buy a VictronConnect battery protect there are three different types in the range I have a 400 amp power AMG battery bank which one would you recommend cheers keep up the good work

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  Před 4 lety

      I’ve purchased the 100Amp Victron battery protect to go before before my 12 V fused switch box for all of my 12v loads are located. As I don’t see myself drawing more than 100 amps on the 12 V system at any time. Do you remember if you purchase and install a battery protect that they don’t allow reverse current ( they will be damaged ), meaning power from your charger can’t go through it to get to your battery

      @moonies414 Před 4 lety +1

      Mispronounced Adventures Hi thanks for the response do you mean that as long as I keep it between the battery and a 12 V fuse box I will be okay as I have a Victron and PPT and battery charger thanks again sean

    • @MispronouncedAdventures
      @MispronouncedAdventures  Před 4 lety +1

      Aye as long as it’s only between the 12v fuse box and the battery it will be fine. It can’t be between the charger and the battery
