“We’re not very good but at least we turn up” - John Pullen.
Not the greatest rugby player but one of the great rugby men.
I went on several rugby tours of Ireland (amateur) in the 80s and 90s. I got the sh•t* knocked out me on the pitch (I wasn’t very good, either) but I don’t recall a single after-match piss-up that England’s turning up on THAT day wasn’t mentioned.
England v Ireland should be the bitterest of all sporting contests. It’s intense but not bitter and it has always been my favourite away trip as a spectator.
      You’ve just illustrated why.

It's been a superb and close 6 Nations, with very few one sided games. Scotland beat England by 9, but were worried in the first half, then lost to Italy. Italy lost to England by 4, then drew (should have won) against France. France beat Scotland by 4, but that try at the end should have been given, then lost to Italy by 2. Only Ireland has looked world class...until they came up against an inspired England team!!
It's great to see Italy throwing the accusations that they should be relegated from the 6 Nations back in people's faces.
As an England fan....I shall be cheering you guys on next Saturday 😃👍

England played a different game than before. Gone was Borthwicks kicking and hoping for the opposition to make mistakes. This time they attacked on all fronts but at real speed, ruck speed really fast. Like Birthwick was locked in the janitor’s room for the week and the team did what they knew they were capable of.

As said grand slams are rare to win and it takes something more than great form from an experienced team, why they are so celebrated. Anyone else think England should have gone for a try instead of kicking the drop goal? They already had a penalty coming in front of the posts, so literally had the win. I thought they looked on for a 4th try and getting it would of given them an extra bonus point, putting them on 13 now to Irelands 16. Could of been huge going into next weeks games. I think the excitement got to them a bit. Reminds me of when we would just want any sort of victory over New Zealand. Maybe more experienced heads would have thought of that. As it stands now with our bigger points difference, a losing bonus point is all Ireland needs to win the six nations.
