Allan has always been intelligent. When South Africa lost ierland they ask him who will win the world cup and he said he hopes ierland but he still thinks South Africa will . He gave england also good press leading up to this game . He is truly open minded and neutral as a analyst. You can replace him with Matt. What a master stroke that would be . The lack of content from this channel about the defeat tells you everything you need to know about their ability to analyse games objectively.
Fine so long as they are just saying the same old stuff: This team good, this team bad, wow these players are the best in the world, etc etc.
Once something happens to challenge that line of thought, they actually don't know what to say or how to analyse the performance.
Pray for a big win against Scotland next week so they can brush over this, like they did in defeat to NZ, and can continue to believe Ireland are an unstoppable juggernaut.

The Irish rugby pundits should stop being so arrogant. Look at the Springboks and All blacks, they love being called the underdog and they are the two most successful countries in world rugby with 7 world cup trophies between them. Being number 1 on the world ranking means nothing if you cant back it up with silverware or a series of wins. Some pundits even compared this Ireland team to the team of Richie Mccaw and Dan Carter🤣🤣🤣. The Irish fans are amazing and just a joy at rugby matches but the Irish pundits should be more humble or they will get humbled. Years from now, no one will know that Ireland was number 1 on world rankings but they will know which countries names are on the Webb Ellis trophy.

This just stands as the ultimate lesson when it comes to sport. These high-profile journalists and "experts" focus way too much on the numbers and statistics as oppose to the mentality and atmosphere. Ireland may have an average of 5 tries per game compared to England's 2 but a lot of that comes down to their mindset. England thrive at Twickenham and the challenge of knocking out Ireland's back-to-back grand slams is a lot for any team and is a very effective fuel for progress and quality. If you write off a team purely because of how they've done in the past instead of looking at every factor, you're proving yourself as inept as a journalist/analyst.

On Virgin media and OTB there has been some really disrespectful comments, going back to before the World Cup.
Virgin media give Matt S air time FFS!!! Could there be anyone more miserable and less qualified to have that?
This week alone we have had Zebo with his 35 points comment, Heaslip with his 13/14 men comment, O Gara with his premiership is poor analysis, even BOD is quite sniping when he isn’t taking GBP from ITV!
Add to that the general dismissive attitude of the presenters on OTB especially, who have absolutely no right to be so arrogant, then you see why there is so much backlash.
And before you go down the nationalist path, look at the feelings that your media is creating with South Africa. They can’t wait for you to be in town in the summer.
We English have had to endure this with our pundits and media for years. We have had to tone it down massively because people got fed up of it.

Is punditry something brand new in Ireland or something?
There’s been pundits around as long as there’s been broadcasting. Yes there’s been a lot of stupid comments from a lot of arrogant people.
These things happened a long time before the internet and the notion of click bait.
I’m not disputing your opinion, but maybe the recent success of the national team has gone to too many people’s heads and they are just talking from a position of arrogance?
I don’t believe for one minute that O Gara’s dismissal of the Premiership, Heaslip genuine assessment of the superiority of Irish rugby, or Zebos boast, or basically any of the disparaging put downs of OTB presenters is anything other than genuine.
There hasn’t been such a dominant Irish team, in any sport, that comes to mind. Maybe that’s what’s happening?
When you boast before a World Cup, or an away game in London, then you lose you have to take the flack.

Sorry mate. Arrogance is arrogance and you can’t slag everyone else off for it, then dismiss it as irrelevant when it’s done by your own!!
In the RWC and last weekend your online pundits have been giving it some large, big time. When it backfires on you you really have to just grin and bear it.
You will still win the championship , you are still the best team. But there’s some real bollocks emerging in your media.

That’s true, no need for you guys to join us then is there??
You can’t always go around playing the loveable card!
And FYI, that arrogance comes from previous success.
When you can add some trophies to the mouth, then you are entitled to mouth off. And the six nations isn’t the world stage I’m afraid.

Joe Molloy has been a smug smarmbag all week, never gave England a chance. Joke of a presenter.

and not just this week, he’s been insufferably arrogant for a while. Apart from that I don’t see what he brings to the job, he should be replaced.

Punditry = pointless, overpaid fresh air! These days I only ever watch the game. I strongly suggest you do the same. I’ve come on here for the first and only time to make this point about the hot gases laboriously spewed over the watching masses that come out of the mouths and many other orifices of yesterday’s men & women some of whom are now unrecognisable in their trendy, oversized, tortoiseshell rimmed glasses. Ireland have still never made it past a WC QF. Just sayin’ like. Bye bye.
