      Um,no.The Roman and the Byzantine empires are very different.Byzantine empire was a Christian nation,used the Greek language,had Greek emperors and was basically mostly Greek.The Roman empire was,well,Roman.

      @@jason-qr3mz you clearly haven’t done research into this topic but here you go. The western Roman Empire and Roman Empire was Christian for 164 years. So it was a Christian empire for a long time. Also if you look at any historical record you’ll see something, anytime a empire invaded the eastern romans they called them Romans. When Mehmed II conquered Constantinople he called the empire “Rome”. Also it wasn’t until the 600s that the empire started using Greek. However that doesn’t matter because not only were Greeks the only other people besides romans which weren’t called barbarians, but the Romans copied so much from the Greeks that they were more Greek than Roman. Here are some more simplified notes:
      1. The story about Romulus and Remus is likely false and is just a theory, but another theory which has evidence is one where it says Rome was founded by a Greek man.
      2. When the romans started to conquer Greece they changed the story to seem different.
      3. Many barbarian tribes lost their barbarian titles after being in the empire for hundreds of years like the Gauls. So this shows culture didn’t matter.
      4. There were many non Latin emperors like Phillip the Arab.
      5. Emperors of the east and west were both the Roman emperors and they saw themselves as ruling the same empire just two different regions.
      6. The eastern romans were called romans and it wasn’t until 1500 that they weren’t called romans.
      7. The eastern Romans were just the surviving half of the Roman Empire and therefore were the Roman Empire.
      You should really study before arguing to not make yourself seem dumb

      @@yakauIvan I think we can agree to disagree.There are many sources upon this subject and all have something different to tell.I am happy to see that im not the only history lover here,though.

      @@jason-qr3mzthey were called Byzantines after they had collapsed and most of the world called them rome

    • @jason-qr3mz
      @jason-qr3mz Před 11 dny

      @@James_new This is true but you can't deny all the major differences between the two empires.Until 600AD the East Roman empire had left behind the characteristics of it's ancestor,Rome.It had become a Christian, Greek speaking nation.Their name was later given because Constantinople was constructed where the ancient greek city of Byzantio was built.
