I've seen Doyle in concert. If you have to drive 100 miles to see him, it'd be worth it.
My jaw drops every time I watch this fellow...i don't know how he does it...and keeps up with so much different stuff. Unreal...all I can say.

Godin guitars are made just down the road from where I live here in Quebec. M. Godin is an incredible innovator who has built high quality instruments for many years.

Doyle gave me a set of elixir strings at a show he was doing in Cincinnati. Got to sit and listen to him play from about 15 feet away. It was an awesome experience, and I rarely use the word awesome.

Doyle is absolutely one of the best fingerstyle pickers ever! Met him at my first NAMM show in the 90's when he was demoing early Taylors. Never heard of him before that. The thing that drew me to the booth was how incredibly smooth and precise his playing was. Plus he was entertaining the heck out of the crowd with his wit and humor along the way. I never thought much about him for a couple years and then he was very popular popping up everywhere. Love this guy! 25-6-2 or 4 is one of my favorite tunes and still my favorite guitar solo ever! Hearing Doyle pull this off finger style blows me away. And it sounds so much better on the Godin 12 string than the other companies guitars he previously represented.

He plays Classical Gas at my church (Loft Country) this Christmas Eve, He told the same story about his talent shows. He went more into it all, it was an amazing experience. i got to shake his hand after and compare his version to Tommy Emmanuel's. Unfortunately he gave the pic he used to the guy in front of me.... Next time Doyle!!
i hear the spectrum is gone. ! great if Doyle can do a comparison on the XTSA with both sets of pickup pickups (electric/acoustic) and nylon piezo pick ups. Like to hear how it sounds compared to the Multias acs sercies w/ nylons.

I have heard some amazing sounds come out of Godin guitars and DD, and I think I want one, and DD can sell any guitar with his ability. But the truth is when he cranked up this black DDS special it struck me as sounding remarkably like the Fender Telacoustic I purchased used for $125 which as about as far from an acoustic sound as you can get, and i'm not convinced it was worth that.
I love Doyle, but Chet's strings didn't buzz. Another guy who should have a CGP award. Best version of Wabash Cannonball ever played. I'm not a religious person, but was raised by Southern Baptists. How Great Thou Art would have been a number one hit had it been a secular song. It's one of the few religious songs that I still play for myself.
Buzz or no buzz is a matter setup preference and finger power. Doyle's attack is way more powerful than Chet's was.
Doyle told me that he plays with specially manicured acrylic nails.
The way he plays, normal nails wouldn't last one gig.

chris forder - Metal strings on this Multiac Spectrum. They also have several Multiac models with nylon, but only piezo оr piezo+mic.

It's called "It Don't Mean a Thing (if it Ain't Got That Swing)" - composed by Duke Ellington in 1931, lyrics by Irving Mills. It is one of the great American jazz standards, Ivie Anderson sang it with the Ellington band in 1932, I believe there is also an Ella Fitzgerald recording, again, with the Duke Ellington band.
