Somewhat cruel to pitch the Bulova against the Audemars Piguet, as the price point now and back then was very different. See more on the Bulova here www.birthyearwatches.com/product/1979-bulova-royal-oak/
In my honest opinion the Bulova Royal Oak looks a little better. Even though yes it’s a homage the dial back in that time looks beautiful specially in white.
yes but just one little mistake if you look nicely the bulova came two years before the AP, and one year after the king lear by fortis and the royal oak by nivada, I mean historically the AP was a homage to the royal oaks ..
@@Birthyearwatches this is what I mean, the bulova came out in 1970 and was not the only royal oak at that time. The earliest royal oak I record for sure with all the original documents that my grandpa bought in Swiss (caus me and my familly live in Alsace), it was build by Fortis and came out on the market in 1969 and we still own this watch beside many other watches around this generation, and these were not designed by Gerald Genta, this is only a legend, but you are allowed to believe that AP isn't a copy if you like, but if you make a little research you'll find out.
@@Birthyearwatches AP just copied the royal oak that was made by other companies before 1972, and I am looks for to purchase more of these old original royal oaks, since I have soled my AP 13 years ago because of it's imperfect proportions, but if I knew the price would grow like this, I would have waited a couple years before selling it. Anyway I was a fool to have bought it for the price at the time already, could have got myself 3 more Bulovas for the money, (2005 when I bought my 4100st 36mm). I'll check your chanel, see if you have some other cool videos ..
@@cntno8703 Trust me they are getting more and more expensive. The white dial automatic is the most sought after. I had one but then I sold it. It’s a beautiful watch but like I said they are very pricey now compared to back then.
They hired a guy to design it, the same guy who designed similar watches for other brands, they didn't even design it themselves. This watch saved AP apparently ... Well good for them but it's not worth the price imo. Any watch from the "holy trinity" is Extremely overpriced. So is any Rolex watch

The Royal oak isn't worth 100k, the price of these kind of watches is completely ludicrous
Who'd have thought the Royal Oak was a Bulova homage?
Woah joking people! Sheesh!

No it didn't, unless you have an example of an 1970 Bulova like this? The Royal Oak was launched in 1972

So, which was the first royal Oak ? Bulova or AP ?
Audemars Piguet launched the Royal Oak in 1972, long before the Bulova
