    Are the Houston Astros done?

      @Elephant2024-wi2li Před 8 dny +3

      Amazingly no. Because the Seattle Mariners have not pulled away from the division as much as they could have. And the Astros are still in play for the last wildcard. But probably the division is their best hope. Sounds incredible to say that as poorly as they have played. Same with the Rangers.

      Astros are 20-9 without Jose Abreu on the roster and 18-31 with him. I know it's a small sample size, but I consider it a trend

      This is important stretch and we shall find out. If they limp into the break at .500 then I would say they still have a chance. Realistically, you’d like to see them go 11-7 or better but 10-8 is a must. It can be done but they cannot slump again.

      The Seattle Mariners could of got that division lead out to 8-9 games easily by now? But there offense STINKS, and they are a mediocre road team. They have kept Houston and Texas within striking distance to be run down in the back half of the Regular Season

    Please explain to me how the Astros are in a downfall when they’ve won 6-straight, which includes sweeping the O’s whom haven’t been swept since May 2022. Astros were 10 GB of Seattle on 6/18, now only 4.5 GB.
    We literally have an entire World Series winning starting rotation on the IL, but that won’t phase the most experienced post season team in the MLB since ‘17.

    20:19 Sea doesn’t have maybe a top half offense? Only the CWS have a worse OBP BA and OPS than they do. They are 22nd in run scored and based off those numbers, you can say they are lucky to be that high. Is there offense underperforming? Maybe. However, it is one of the absolute worse offenses atm. No where close to being considered a top half offense. Even if the start producing where are they going to be? 15th? 20th? Nah they need a bat. The sooner the better.

    • @FlippinBatsPod

  • @case139

    That would be something if Houston were to surpass Seattle in the standings by the end of next week. Starting pitching is getting better despite injuries to other guys. Bullpen is improved greatly by the presence of two new, off-the-radar acquisitions (Bryan King and Luis Contreras), and this could make either Montero or Pressly a potential trade piece soon. I don't think they need to be total sellers now, but they could land a decent first baseman and possibly another starter (maybe another lefty?). King and Contreras pitching well early is huge now. And the offense (with a couple of newbies) is connecting better than it was a couple of weeks ago.
    In addition, the Astros cannot afford to give up any more prospects, certainly not their top ones. They should gradually get younger and start having a few more guys become untouchable.

    22:37 I think BAL got bit by the “letdown monster” against Houston. They played with so much emotion and intensity vs NYY. It takes a toll. I think they were just gassed a little. They’ll be fine.

      @@Michael-kf7gm IR doesn’t matter. We talking about who is better this year. Besides Tuck the peeps that are coming back don’t really move the needle. Garcia is a mid tier pitcher, LMC jr. hasn’t pitch consistently in over 2 years. Who knows what he has left. verlander is old. No way Houston rotation matches Burnes, Rodriguez, Suarez, and Irvin. Gunnar is better than any player the Astros have. you can say Adly is just as good as any player the Astros have. Plus the bottom of HOU LU is sad. Singleton/Dubon, Meyers, McCormick, and Peña. Nah BAL is way better and younger.

    i get why Houston would be top disappointment. luckily they have fixed 3 of their main 4 issues. bullpen is doing better, Bregman is hitting again and most of all they released Jose Abreu. Jose Abreu was a huge rally killer. i would've rather had Zack Greinke batting this year than Jose Abreu. only problem they have left is the Starting pitching. it's hard to succeed when you have a fringe top 5 rotation on the IL

    Most surprising, Brewers. Doing more with less. Traded Burnes, lost Woodruff to injury, no problem. Just keep playing winning baseball. Most disappointing, Mariners, should be running away with the division with that pitching staff, can't score runs if their lives depended on it.

    4:31 Everybody always says JRam is underrated. By who exactly? He’s been to the all star team 5 out of the last six years. He’s won a silver slugger award 4 out of the last six years. He’s been a top 15 pick in fantasy for a decade now. Does he get talked about enough in mainstream media? No but we all know where their bias in place. Hell the year Bader played for NYY, I heard more about him leading into the year than I did Randy Arozarena. Point is he is not underrated. He gets his love and his due by the fans of baseball. Problem is the popular programs are run by the people who are fans of teams first.
