Sorry, everyone, I forgot to mention that Peter Green composed this piece. There is a Wikipedia reference at 0:28 though. Enjoy the video :-)

Peter green "man of the world"! 1969. Should have put cover by Eric Clapton.

The most poignant lyric in that whole song is when he says “And there's no one I'd rather be
But I just wish that I'd never been born”. Peter Green was a very troubled individual possibly with underlying mental health issues, even before he got too deep into LSD and never came back. What an amazing song from an amazing songwriter and guitar player. Bless him where ever he may be now. 🙏🙏

You should hear the original by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac .

The Peter Green/ Mac original is a magical song, along with John Martyn's May You Never; they both contain sublime idiosyncratic guitar work. Clapton took both and turned them to schlock.

Truly one of the most spectacular pieces ever composed, subtle, emotional, simple yet ... the walk down... but it is so connecting and an emotional piece, IMO a real masterpiece and under appreciated for it's time and beyond.
I love it and Henry you did a great job trying to break this down for us. That one walk down piece is a bear, I keep getting stuck on it, the rest is easy compared to that. So I need to work on that a lot more. But like you said this song gets you... with the dynamic shifting and just the pure amazing construction of it. It gets me to my man. Thank You for cranking this one out, I truly Love it!!!

Eric Clapton and Peter Green! Cool Song!! Listened to this about 10 times consecutively, amazed by lyrics and how guitar chord progression fit in so perfect. 👍🏾

It’s a good tribute version….no doubt about it….but having seen the original Fleetwood Mack with Peter Green performing it back in 1969 there’s no comparison. Green composed so many great songs and although I’ve admired Clapton and have seen him several times….I’ve always preferred Green’s mellow tones on his Les Paul.

I'm sure you are infringing a lot of copyright issues here Henry, be careful ! I only mention this because I built up a great following on CZcams only to get struck off for using copyrighted material then I had to start over. So please don't take this the wrong way. Do you need to use the material, you seem like a good teacher. I do the same thing if you ever want to do a collab we could do something I'm sure, I always like to help folks when I can

Hi Joes, thanks for the feedback! I'd be interested to know more about what happed to you with copyright. CZcams always sends me an email that I'm infringing, but that there's not need to worry. They also give 100% of the income to the copyright owner. I thought that everything is cool. Do you know Michael Palmissano from "Guitargate"? He makes the same style vids. Fell free to shoot me an email at henguitarlessons@gmail.com I'd love to chat :-) All the best, Henry

Henry, Great job explaining the guitar cords and playing details of this song. Have always been a fan of Eric and after watching you, I now feel inspired to learn this song. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next "Hanging with Henry" video.

This is great, really enjoyed it. Just a thought... I don't think he's contradicting himself (16:06)... there's no one he'd rather be, he has it all, and yet he wishes he'd never been born. Life is empty, sad, tragic, pointless, it makes it all the worse to feel that way in the situation he is in materially. It saying even with everything there's nothing worth living for, there is no redemption. It's what makes it so desperately sad

Great and interesting reaction to this wonderful piece of music but as a lifelong admirer of its composer it would be fair to point out that the one who wrote this song is the great Peter Green even though Clapton had added more magic to the song.

I find it disappointing that you give a lesson on Peter Green's most emblematic and magical song with a version of Clapton, thanks wow there are a thousand. teachers who do not distort and play it as the genius of Mr Greenbaum created it
