Ever since I've started watching you, I've noticed you have started to become more in control when making a save, you don't flop around as much as you used to, you don't dive for every save across the crease, it's awesome to see the development you've made. Cheers to you Trav.
Trying to become one total package in doing so
Vaughn makes the best chest protector - no question. I have always used Vaughn gloves. Last year switched to the warrior glove. My issue with the Vaughn glove is the large thumb and the pocket transition - had way more pop-outs on glove saves with the Vaughn. The Vaughn glove is also heavier than the warrior which makes a difference. I am the goalie coordinator for an association. We have had issues with the magnetic buckles on the Vaughn leg pads. Either they break or start spinning which leads to them coming undone. I hope they fixed this on the V9's. Also, the toe elastic system on the Vaughn pads is garbage.
Agreed on the chest piece have worn ever version of the vision/Ventus chest piece. Currently on slr2 pro carbon. Only pads I ever liked were the v6s without the knee rolls. Otherwise not a vaugh guy
I swear you are the most underrated CZcamsr ever.
There are many many better film makers on here, especially in the hockey genre.

Got me wanting to look into some Vaughn gear!!
I Love vaughn pads. I demoed the SLR's before I bought my passau's, kinda wish I'd waited and got SLR2's because theyre virtually perfect for me (besides the graphic being boring. Their RRC is just perfect, really does what it's supposed to, super comfortable. I loved how my warriors felt but I wanted a bit taller, more curved pad (I had the GT's).

My custom V9 gear is coming mid May :( massive improvements on the chesty. ve8 carbon is a great unit but they fixed some issues and v9 might take a run as one of the top units.

So happy this video is a thing. My 1S Pads have served me well, but this year I think is the year for a new set and I'm split between the unreleased Ultrasonics and the successor to the Vaughn VE8's... Which I guess are the V9's you have! I'm completely torn.

What up Trav! I've been watching your videos for some time now and love them. I was also in your seat with the attempt to play pro hockey. I played low level junior hockey in the US and had a couple of pro tryouts but never made a team. I had a small scholarship to play ACHA Div.1 hockey and walked away from it. What a dumb decision. Good to hear you are going to play college hockey. Love your channel and Vaughn gear rocks!
My kid switched from CCM to Vaughn V9. It was a great change. The V9s slide so much better.

Hey trav also got some ice time to my self cuz no one showed up for shinny so I practiced my butterfly slides. I just started playing this year so I had alot to work on. But it was good to actually focus on something to get better. And your video of you practising inspired me but I didn't do my practised.
Nothing wrong with Vaughn gear. Absolute quality.
That said Warrior is easily the best gear I have ever used and I don't see myself ever changing.

Have you ever considered Sweden? I dont know jack about Hockey but I'm pretty sure we're pretty decent over here and many teams would be glad to have you because of the exposure you bring in excess of your incredible talent. I've got some contacts with our local team but they might not be at your level, check out Tranås AIF and hmu if you're interested :)

Wow the seal and perfect rotation on those pads! They don’t look like they want to over or under rotate ever, like when you would push to slide in the warriors you would under rotate a lot and the pas would angle down towards the ice even when they were new, with these i know they’re still fresh out the box stiffness but they look so square when you push to slide and stay so flat on the ice! 👌 oooo those are gorgeous!

Love the pads! I went from a G2 to an older Vaughn SLR and love them! Not sure if you feel the same way but I just feel like Vaughn's optically look bigger?

Love the channel, always look forward to new videos. My son is 12 and he just started playing and decided on goal. He was able to make the entry level rep team in the city and is doing well. My question for you is how can he transfer his great practices into games? He also has a problem with pucks going through him.

My friend and I liek going all black black skates, socks, pants, jersey, mitts, and bucket then he goes with black blocker, glove, pads, and bucket, being blacked out looks sick

Trav, I noticed you're not wearing the RRC strap in both the videos. You can remove the RRC strap and buckle on the V9s pretty easily

This is a good ‘unboxing’ video. I hate those vids that talk forever before they open the box then they open it and done. I could have seen all that on the product web site. I want to see some use. Doesn’t have to be a review but needs to be an informed first thought.

Q&A future of NHL goaltending style? To me the taller goalies are not the future of goaltending, but more athletic RVH and flexible goalies to ms is the future. Also besides Quick who would be on your list of scrambler goalies

Every piece of Vaughn gear I've owned has lasted forever. Something to be said about the quality in Canadian/American made goalie products, which I don't see in the majority of offshore made brands

Do you feel bigger in the gear being white? I have some New Kohos that are listed at 36 plus 2 and there 3 inches taller than my old Crawford Reebok Xlt pads that also 36 plys 2 and there all made at same place lol. I love how new gear gives you like new life. Only thing about the white jenpro material on back side is it yellows and looks gross after awhile.
I feel massive in the white gear.

Hes literally my film making / CZcams idol. I would say my videos are borderline rip off of Casey but with a hockey twist. Idk what it is about his style but I found it so mesmerizing top to bottom and thought "that would be awesome in a hockey format". Cheers

Looking back on this as compared to the True vids, your movement, butterfly squaring and recoveries make me wonder why you didn't stick with these.
Funny a lot of people say that.They def look bigger, squarer but I felt they hindered my movement so much, too big and so heavy. The feel of stopping pucks was awesome but theyre a v2 pad stuck in 2021

Trav! You may look into the Carnivore diet ( I hate the word diet ) to drop those 10 pounds. Drop the pasta maybe to help the joints, get some omega 3’s in you, collagen, check out Dr. Paul Saladino on YT. Maria won’t like it, but might be worth a look. Oh! The grocery store roasted chickens? Weak birds chickens, pumped full of soy. Beef cattle convert the soy much better ( the 7 stomachs ).
Just a though. I got shredded at 52 and I still play. Although it hurts.

Hey Trav great video thanks for sharing. Seeing you in all white pads is a big change and I have to say it looks good! I have two questions.
It looks like you ditched the boot strap? Beginning of the video you had it on the back of your skate and then I didn't see it on ice. Is that the move - no boot strap? I know some goalies have been going that way.
Also, how do you keep your knee pads up? I tie my warrior knee pads to my pants but because of that I can't wear socks. I think eventually the rough knee pads will tear through my vaughn slr2's unless I get some socks on those bad boys. I couldn't find any other way to keep my knee pads from sliding down.
Tried the boot strap and wasn't a fan. Got rid of it.
I just let my knee pads be, no tape or anything.

Hey Trav, thanks for the love and replies on my previous comments, you ARE true to your words here about not making yourself "holier than thou" but as an inspiration to others perhaps 'meet and greet' were the wrong words to use, how about 'live Q&A' or even better a 'bull and bitch session' where a bunch of us goalies meet up with you and you could make a video for your channel highlighting some of the other's stories, questions and answers or advice on goaltending? I live in Ontario now but I would (if I could afford it) travel to Winterpeg with my family to meet with you and shoot the shit and take my family to visit the place I lived in Manitoba as well as some of the landmarks I enjoyed in my youth.
It will be a while before I hot the ice again and I will need new gear when I do (which means I will likely buy used or cheap to start) but having never used Vaughn in my life you have me interested in trying it out for some or all of my next gear set. When I start playing, I was using the old brown leather Cooper pads, blocker and catcher of the 70's when I played the most. Not knowing better when I rejoined hockey at 32 I bought the same style cement blocks for pads. While this may seem like a bad choice when I switched to the ultralight pads of the time in the late 90's playing in the heavy Coop's made the new pads feel like I was wearing nothing at all and I barely felt anything through them. I cannot imagine what the latest pads will feel like when I do get back on ice after being absent for the last 9 years.

I am a lot older than you but I really appreciate your videos for the insight into the instruction you receive, the reviews on your gear (not that I am going to need pro gear ever as I am only ever going to be a beer league goalie at best now), and the memories of my youth in Friendly Manitoba. May be a bit before I am physically capable or financially able to make the trip back to the prairies unless I win a lottery in which case I will buy you your next set of gear and fund your next year of College! Hopefully, when I do take my family in that direction for a visit of my old stompin' grounds we will be able to take in a game with you playing.

Steve is the reason the Vaughn’s and this video happened. As far as “freebies” goes I think you’d be suprised how many freebies I do and Don’t get sometimes,

Trav reason you don't use a cat eye or cheater cage? Switching to a cheater really helped change my game on finding rebounds at my feet and vision overall.
