I love the idea of a scrap from every quilt I make in 2024! At the.end of the year, you make a memory quilt for yourself!

I'm really inspired by this one! What stands out to me is that the center focus fabric can be just "normal" in colour or design, but when given a frame and some white space it becomes a piece of art. I was reminded of Mondrian as well. Thanks for posting this - I'm going to start rummaging through my scrap bins and make a few blocks on this cold and snowy day.

When you said “special fabric” & “sentimental “, I knew I’d LOVE this. I have bits & pieces of fabric that were scraps from clothes my mom sewed for me in high school. I treasure them so much because each piece has memories attached. I’m going to dig them out today.

I absolutely love this idea! I have only been sewing for a short time (bought my first sewing machine in 2022) but I have a ton of scraps of some meaningful fabric that I would love to have a keepsake of. Its like I remember each fabric and what I used it for, so having a bunch of these squares made up to either complete a quilt one day, or do smaller projects with is amazing. I love your videos. Thank you so much!

I really like this idea! While I love symmetrical and "orderly" patterns - I do like a quilt that is NOT looking like it was all "precuts" and on purpose. And yes, great way to use and show off those amazing frabrics you don't really want to cut and you aren't sure how to use, but you want them in a quilt, not sitting in a box.

I love scrappy, improv, string quilts and crumb pieced blocks, and sometimes a very precisely pieced pattern. I have way more fun just going with whatever makes me relax and enjoy being in my sewing room. Can't wait to see what you make with these. I like the smaller frames and both background colors are totally dynamic. Lots of energy. Great job.

What a fun watch! Great idea to use up scraps. You have so many good suggestions as how to approach your project as well, such as making a block after finishing a quilt. This could even be done with leftover knit pieces as you are framing as you go giving i some stability and each block could be then fused to a soft fusible quilt interfacing to stabilize for quilting. Soft to the touch and would make great baby blankets after sewing baby clothes. So many possibilities. So I am definitely subscribing and looking at your channel to see if you have expanded on your very cool looking blocks.
