  • These days, the only traditionally animated features we get from American studios are those based off of currently-running TV shows. Those are always risky, even more so when the show in question Teen Titans Go! has a divisive reputation, to put it mildly. But perhaps the jump to the big screen can give it the facelift to fulfil its wacky ambitions? Ghost Mike takes a good look at the latest from Warner Bros. Animation.

Great review! Just covered this a couple of weeks ago myself! Enjoyed hearing your thoughts on it!

Your review is actually fair in contrast to many others. Well composed video, Mike! I am looking forward to what the end credits scene entails also.

It if helps, it's more mid-credits. But you've done well to not have it spoiled for you thus far, it's been all over the internet ever since July 27th.

You got another nice review l, and I like the contain section as it give is history to your experience with the show
I haven't watched the movie, but I did watch the show and agree that the reboot is better than most people believe. It know what it is, unlike most reboots that try to pander to old and few fans with little success. Overall, it's better than most people think though the draft issue is a big problem

I assume by “contain section” you mean the part on the show’s background from about 1:10 up to 3:49. Yep, I felt I needed to discuss the show at least briefly to better talk about the film, but I recognized many people wouldn’t want that and would want to get straight to the film, so I provided a timestamp to skip to. Similar thing s happen for spoiler sections in videos like these at times.
But thank you for your kind words. Believe it or not, this film could end up doing a lot of good for the show. But again, the rushed, inconsistent writing is what it comes down to. Ideally, we’d boil down the episodes worth watching, but that will differ by person, given its type of humour, so nothing to be done there.
Believe it or not, it’s not the first time CN did a property of theirs a lot of damage by overscheduling either; when The Powerpuff Girls Movie was released back in 2002, in the weekends leading up to release, they aired The Iron Giant all weekend back-to-back bookended by ads for the Powerpuff Movie. By the end, everyone was sick of both of them. That film was over advertised on CN and basically not at all everywhere else, hence it only making $11.4 million, and only $16.4 million worldwide.

It's refreshing to hear someone give constructive criticism on this film, most people of whom feel the contractual obligation of jumping on the "Teen Titans Go! is garbage" bandwagon the cartoon community became infamous for. anim8ball's Emoji Movie review was a year late on purpose, giving him no excuse to hop the "this's the worst animated movie of all time" bandwagon. You and him are certainly two of the more respectable people in the community, I love your videos and his.

Thanks very much for your kind words. Believe it or not, this film is being very well received; critics are giving it just-below-overwhelmingly positive reviews, and viewers of our generation are either reacting similarly, Finding it to be really clever and sharp, or at the very least, admitting this is the show with nearly all the negative elements removed.
Ironically, the least receptive group are those people who unironically like the show, on the grounds that with 200 episodes under its belt, it’s not as fresh for them in it’s humorous as it seems to us. The same problem My Little Pony: The Movie faced to a degree, where those who’ve seen each episode are much harder to impress as a result. Except that here, that group of people is much smaller due to how few adults have bothered seeing every episode.
