    Have E1 571. Power light after a few seconds. CPU GPU PCH integrated chips heats up but then cycles. Coil feeding 1.8v GPU is about 80 ohm. And same resistance on CPU 1.05v coil. Only thing I can think is internal CPU GPU fault and system power cycles. Resistance between GPU and CPU coils is 150ohm. Should that be more or open line ? For integrated chip ?

    Hello. Mini PC on Intel n100. When turned on, the screen is black, the fan rotates, the radiator heats up, and it consumes about 14W from the outlet (TDP of processor 6); during normal operation, it seems to have consumed about 20W. But even when turned off, it consumes about 10 W and the processor heatsink gets very hot. Processor to be replaced? Can the processor heat up when turned off and consume 10W from the outlet when the processor is alive?

    Good video, you can do the same test without removing the coils by using an esr meter. The esr meter will see the coils as high resistance, so if you measure from each side of the coil, you will see where the short to ground is.

    Nice video thanks. I have a question - the short can still come from the caps that are between the CPU and the coils you removed. You need to remove CAPS too ? I was curious also if cutting some traces is an option to avoid removing so many components ...

    Some gpu resistance to ground is less than .1 ohm, especially more recent models, separating the coils can help find mosfet issues though in these cases

    Thank you for the video! In some cases though it is normal to have very low resistance around GPUcore or Vcore. In these cases, continuity mode will be a false positive. It may still be worth checking the buck converter itself. I've had this several cases when it was the PWM controller or MOSFET faulty despite a "short" on the Vcore side according to the multimeter.

    • @farmdve
      @farmdve Před 2 lety +1

      How may we avoid accidentally shorting the CPU/GPU while measuring? I mean the meter does supply a voltage to measure? . Also this mobo looks like an Alienware, is it common for the GPU or CPU to die on these?

    • @TheResoluteHawk
      @TheResoluteHawk Před rokem +1

      @@farmdve the voltage from the multimeter is very low. Typically less than a volt. This isn't enough to short the silicon components out since they typically operate using anywhere from 0.5v to 1.2v
