- In the episode we go deep into fabricating custom turbo manifolds, fuel systems and an intercooler - all required to get this H6 engine swapped STI levorg as close to half a megawatt as we can.
Big thanks to Al, Woody and Benny for their help, check them out here:

cannot wait, looking forward to this more than christman!

Can’t wait for TT3
Thank you boys, for always doing what you can to give everyone a better Christmas. Lots of love to all x
Can anyone tell me the tune / song when they start doing the inter cooler…. Heard it first on the mr2 series but can never find it
So disappointed that the intercooler didn't get plucked/strummed, so we can hear if it's in tune, straight out of the box 😔
haha i was thinking the same thing :)
Came looking for this comment, haha
@@philter105 I aim to please
whereessss Moog for that!!!
imagine finding out after building the whole thing that the intercooler is out of tune?!
Does anyone else get déjà vu from MCM lately? Videos like this with the guys from the skid factory and the hole concept of a H6 in a Subaru wagon take me years back.
Bloody hell mate. Exactly what I was thinking. Even funnier I had deja vu around a Christmas special and Moog mentioned it 😂
Not alone. Basically I think they are doing to this one what they always wanted to do to Super gramps.
@@amagine1 Cross your fingers they don't leave the car half finished outside during a biblical storm!
It's the best 👍 I love it!
I finished a rewatch of the Supergramps build a few days before the 1st H6 Levorg vid dropped....its not just you, I think they know 😂
It seems criminal to me the the Skid Factory only has 250k subs.
Like and subscribe 👍🏻👍🏻
251k as of now, I know I just subbed
I've learned more about engines/building cars from The Skid Factory than any other channel, Al is incredibly knowledgable and the dry tone of the show makes for a great watch
They're still doing better than the 13 viewers a certain other channel is getting
@@sheshd?
Great to see the squad all together, more collabs please! Also, Moog never checked to see if the intercooler is in tune 🤣
exacly, I'm also still waiting!
Is this the first intercooler moog hasnt tuned 😱
I was waiting for this moment too... but it didn't happen 😭😂
It's for a Subaru. Not Moog Approved. LoL
Relax, only joking about the Subaru. It's going to be sick!
Moog has approved this build with his awsome music in this video.
The fact that you guys did an STI swap just to show the world it can be done, knowing that you were going to H6 swap it all along, earns you a place in automotive legendrydom 😉
I think to pass cert they needed the big brakes. They also needed the better gearbox so makes sense to grab an sti
There's something about watching Al weld to Moog tunes that makes me feel very at peace. Absolutely love it
So happy you guys didn't sell out and move to a paid platform like roadkill did. You guys are legends
"AL has turboed more cars than I've blown up" And that's A LOT!
I love having the band together again. Before it's over, we need a Turbo Yoda clip.
You can find me here @Theskidfactory
"he's the Tuuurrrbbboo Yoooodddaaaa"
Al is the most underrated youtuber in the automotive world. If not the most underrated human in the world. IMHO.
No I wouldn't say that people that follow there channel or know him. Know he's the yoga! I think there channle is a little unknown off and that's about it but it also makes it more of a gem to watch like great music which no one knows off!!
I used those Kein motor mounts on my EZ30D swapped baja. I would say they are so rigid, they are race only imo. Way too much NVH for my liking. I used them for a year before going back to the stock gel-filled h6 mounts, what a difference. I have a group N trans mount for the dual range 5mt, plus I put upgraded bushings in for the diff, shift linkage and steering rack. Plenty stiff for a daily driver car. For anyone wondering, the ez30d stock exhaust manifold interferes with the 5mt trans crossmember, so you have to do a bit of welding on the left side pipe.
Al has really changed for the better on camera since last he was on here. Nice vid and looking forward to T&T3
Hosting his own projects over at The Skid Factory has given him a lot of practice. Good job, Al.
This is so epic!! I miss the intercooler tune and the angelical intro for Turbo Yoda... but man, having Turbo Yoda and his Skid Factory apprentice, the good ol' Mechanical Stig and these 2, this is going to be epic, even a greater ride than Supergramps (which btw is one damn cool SW already).
This Levorg went from Leboring to Levright to Levraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappp stututututu... I'm wonder what's next for this awesome one of a kind car...
Remember kids, Make sure those Wastegates get plumed back to atmosphere for maximum street cred
It seems so crazy that the content here is so much better than what's available on TV these days. And it's free!
That work on turbo sistem by Al is pure art, work of genius. Top, like it.
"It's what they do!" Amazing to see all the skills of the bois under one roof again, warms a mechanics heart
The best days have new MCM episodes!!
You know what Moog...some of us are alone at xmas due to where we live away from family etc. To hear you release something on xmas day brings some joy...looking forward to it!
4 minutes in and that manifold is looking incredible. I couldn't even wait to the end to mention it! 😂 these boys have come such a long way and built such an amazing group of friends to contribute to their projects. cant deny though I'd love to see an old school driveway how to just for the nostalgia
You guys has helped me stay above surface for almost 12 years.. every time i feel i cant do it anymore you guys show up and give me an automotive virtual hug.. And i truly cant thank you enough, Cant wait for T&T III ! 💚
The dimes that man can bead when he welds is fantastic. No grinding down those welds to clean them, just clean the first time.
I read thgis before the welding, and I thought you were talking about marty?
I'm so glad you are doing this swap. I have a landspeed car build on the drawing board and it will be powered with this engine. You've pointed me in all the right directions for what bits I'm gonna need when the time comes to put it together.
As a welder, so glad to see the guys going the extra mile to perge. Love your work guys
Having good friends to help makes the build process and journey that much more fun. All these Guys helping are LEGENDS!!
How does turbo yoda still look as young as he did in the first episode that he was on? Is it because he's the baron of boost that the turbo gods give him infinite life? He's like everyone's favorite uncle that is always there to help you go fast.
@Smeedia is so jealous right now. Love both builds!
loving the weld talk, keeping it simple and explaining to people who don't know but also not insulting in anyway to those who do know.
just like everything MCM does
I get totally zen by watching stuff like this. Absolutely awesome and like Marty, I can't wait to hear this thig roar and see it blast off on track!
The boys are home!! And by home, I mean, Home is where the heart is, and there was a lot of heart, and love in that room!!! Old Skool MCM vibes!
Also, how comfortable is Al in front of the camera now compared to when he was last in an MCM video. Great work chaps!
As a certified welder i am in love with welding part. Real no bs guy, explained it simple and down to earth.
It was so good to see Woody and Alan again. Please do more mighty car mods with them
Al is such a whizzard! Makes me warm and fuzzy inside, growing middleaged together with all these guys after all this years of pure joy and automotive blast! Thank you guys, honest!
Don't forget to fit a Brake Master Cylinder Brace Kit to this car!
Subaru WRXs are notorious for their spongey brake pedal - but it's not the brakes themselves, it's the flexing firewall when you start gouging on the brake pedal!
All the car needs for a Porsche-like brake pedal is a brace to stop the brake master cylinder moving.
To prove you need one, get in the driver's seat and press the brake pedal HARD. If the firewall flexes and the back of the cylinder moves, then your pedal feels soggy.
Best upgrade ever for a WRX - and I mean that very seriously - I drive a 911, a 928, and a Tommy kaira M20b/WRX. :)
I met Benny during Drag week at VMP a few years ago. He was the coolest. It's great to see the guys back together.
I missed Al on the channel. And yes I do watch his own channel too, but that's different :)
I love the Australian vocabulary. “Sugaring, where it looks shit” hahaha never change boys.
Al is way to humble for himself, ‘just got it fr the internet’ but your brain managed to restore that information unlike everyone else, stop being so hardy and hard on yourself. AL IS THE TRUE LEGEND
Still makes me laugh that the STI motor wasn't enough, you have to go to the 6 cylinder. I would be thrilled with the car as it was.
Man I’m ashamed that I haven’t kept up on your channel for so long, I’m a huge fan from way back! I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Great content as always, much love from Texas!
Love the time lapse welding! Stoked about this build too! Love to do this to my 2003 WRX some day.
hey i have one of those too
Benny is the guru of AN fittings. Maadddd
I just mention this because I love Al and want him to live a long and healthy life. He needs to wear a certified mask when he welds stainless steel. Tig welding SS gives off hexavalent chromium; which is very toxin and poisonous. He probably knows this and doesn't wear it for the video and puts one on to finish the job when the camera is turned off. The only reason to include it in the video is there are tons of would be builders watching that don't know about H. Chromium. I personally have told quite a few people about it that had no idea. Cheers from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Thanks so much M&M for all your hard work keeping us entertained for yet another year Legends !!!
Merry Christmas everyone
It's always nice to see the turbo Yoda. Miss his intros though 🤣🤣
Miss me? Have a squiz at some of my videos if you want more 😎👍🏻
If your not subbed to all these guys your missing out on so much internet goodness. I wish you guys could do these colabs more. good lads, know there shit. make good watching and listening(moog).
keep being amazing guys! merry cribo
Al is such a legend. This would be my dream day, having legends like Al, Woody, Benny, Marty and Moog and upgrade my Subaru.
Nice to see you all together again.need more builds together.keep it up all of you.
This Grovel series are amazing and it was an amazing season. Thank you MCM!
Brilliant last couple of episodes, great to see Benny and Al again, I could watch Al's welding all day and good to see you spending time with your mates.
I did food grade stainless TIG for a few years! I also worked in a muffler shop for a while too, doing diesel trucks mostly. I love watching Turbo Yoda doing pipe fitting, such a master!
Brilliant year boys, Merry Christmas and I hope the fun continues next year. Thanks for the awesome content.
Good work boys!
You guys are amazing. You made a Levorg more than what I want my XV to be and THEN you made it better.
I know. After the Original Levorg/STI merge, I was looking at the near new XV in my driveway and wondering if there's an STI in it's future too!
Wow I cant wait for turbos and temples 3. Its been 10+ years of watching and it never gets old
First, love you guys, perfect timing while bored at work
Bored while at work. Get me a job 😂
@@CudMcCuddles I think he mean first thing is he loves the guys.
Not first comment.
That’s how I read it. I could be wrong
Watching at work aswell
I need to get some mates like these.
I'd just like a mate. Plural maybe?
Haha loving woody in the back at the end!
Skid Factory for the win!!
So nice to have Turbo Yoda and Mechanical Stig back for a few episodes ! Thanks guys !
This series is what i needed 🙌🏻 love seeing how Al does it even if i know how to after swapping my subarus with the v12 and 2jz. keep it up guys ❤
gotta be honest, thought the V12 and 2JZ thing was someone bullshitting and pretending they know shit on the internet. But you actually did it, I'm impressed but I think you might also want some sort of therapy 'cause I can't imagine fitting those things in a bay like this
@@helplmchoking like most people that will be reading this lol
Dude, your car is amazing!
@@helplmchoking Al has done a V12 Liberty in the past too.
I followed your V12 build on IG!
Why must you post this JUST as I'm getting to work?? Lol
Look forward to watching this thru my breaks tonight during my shift!! Cheers from probably your longest subscriber in NY USA! You guys are the absolute LEGENDS..is it just me or do I feel we are way overdue for a "Disrespected Cheryl" episode 🤣🤣
Christmas and december in general is personally the lowest and toughest time of the year. T and T 3 is the only thing i have worth looking forward to. Thank you for all you do. Much Appreciated guys. 😁
I can’t wait to see the finished power numbers on this build. Love that you swapped over to the H6. That’s what’s in my outback, and for sure that’s a solid motor
A little disappointed you didn’t point all the exhaust tubes at each other like last time 😢😂
What a nice build !
Can I also applaud for the cinematography and production work ? Great stuff !!
Al's come a long way when it comes to being in CZcams videos =) He's obviously been a legend for a long time when it comes to turbo-fying the world, but it's so awesome seeing him relaxed and in his element explaining things to camera. He was always awesome and hilarious on camera of course, it's just that in the beginning it was awesome and hilarious in a clunky grumpy/shy taking-the-piss kind of way but over time morphing perfectly into confident, relaxed and natural but still hilarious and sharp/grumpy =D
i spend christmas alone and its pretty depressing tbh. but the last couple years ive been turbo and temple-ing it brings a little light to a normally gloomy day. keep up the great work and moog woodworking channel would make me cream.
Turbo Yoda and Mechanical Stig are legendary!
Gonna be mighty. It’s great hearing how chilled Al and Benny are talking about what they do.
It’s been a week but I’m rewatching and can’t let it go. I rewatched the Fairlady conversion again and laughed at Al teasing Moog about not using silicone and having to drill a hole in the front and here’s Woody going, Nah it’s not a problem mate 😂
The Levorg will go down as a future classic. Ultimate all rounder.
Grab one while you still can!!
Guys, i do not know who is making the color grading for your vids, but lately I have noticed they pop so good, its like watching 8K HDR videos!
Even on my old bad screen.
Kudos to the guy!
I’ve got to say I love hearing from the boys in their professions, like the explanation on the welding etc really interesting stuff!
Literally 15 minutes ago my mum was on the phone saying "I feel bad youre gonna be spending Christmas alone"
So I guess Im spending it with Marty, Moog and Mary Jane 💖💜💙
For the last few Xmas's you have definitely helped me get through, gutted you won't be giving us another best 4x4 channel adventure 😛
Seeing all the guys back together is literally the best Christmas present I could have asked for!
Awesome to see all the boys together again 🤗 can't wait for the finished results!
Fun fact Al had worked on my bugeye back in the day unknown to me, and that thing was an animal for what it was-sooo stout.
So nostalgic to see you all in a workshop together again😊 that being said I’m slightly disappointed in the lack of Intercooler harp playing by moog, what a missed opportunity 😂😂
the fab work is so cool! also glad you highlighted the tedious nature of having to continually put things on and take them off. i do remember in my youth sticking with a half baked solution as I was done with taking things on and off. good to keep in mind that it's needed if you want a job well done.
its so awesome to see the progress of Al being in front of the camera!
I like it when all of the boys are there helping.
A sawtooth synth whilst showing footage of the band saw? Not sure if it was intentional or not but it made me smile.
Can't wait to see this finished and driven...hard! Super Gramps was a brilliant car, and this Levorg will be next level.
Imagine waking up , and driving to the airport to pick up Al, Woody and Benny to come and work on ya maaaad nugget with ya like it’s a normal Tuesday type of deal honestly it’s a wild dream we all now have !
Imagine flying to Sydney and getting picked up from the airport in a turbo Kei Tip truck. Woody loved riding in the tray.
@@alanbutler8253 it’s nearly gotta be the biggest load the Kei truck has had in the back then !!!
All you guys working together is the absolute best version of all your channels. So good to see you all back together again. Do more of it 👍
An alternative to purging is "solar flux". You mix this paste up with alcohol and then wipe it on the back of the weld. The alcohol evaporates and leaves the powder which protects the weld from the atmosphere.
It works great and is a lot cheaper than argon 😅. Note, it also cant be used for food grade piping after welding the leftover kinda ceramic glaze is not food safe.
The quality of this series is absolutely massive and you have help from people who are fantastic at their craft. This is going to be one special vehicle.
You can tell that the guys are really enjoying working on this car and camaraderie, after a few years since the Stagea everyone matured into such a good team.
Excellent one, guys. Thank you so much.
The tunes are on point, I love the amount of explaining stuff scenes to epic shots of turbo yoda welding stuff, mad video
Love this build and can't wait for turbos and temples 3. I'm looking forward to it more than my Christmas Dinner
I have my own Subaru that I've put a lot of work in, but I can't help but hate modified Subaru's in general primarily because of the obnoxious following/scene that is present here in the US. Even so, I appreciate Marty's build because it's totally unique and custom. Gonna be putting out some relatively big numbers! Excited to see the end result.
It's genuinely hard for me to express the joy I feel seeing you guys all together working on a car, just a fabulous early christmas present. Thankyou!
this project is the perfect example how super garage just upgraded everything so much. can't wait for the new builds
Anyone else remember when MCM came to the US and turned a Subaru into a Ute with a turbo sticking straight up out of the “bonnet“ 😂
I love seeing Benny and turbo Yoda back on the channel. Great work guys.
Awesome build boys! Can't wait to see what kinda noise the [6RO-VEL] makes!
Man, I REALLY wish that I had Al's fabrication skills. I built a turbo kit for my 2004 Acura TL six speed manual and it was an absolute PAIN! I was working with hardly any room and ALL of the hoses and wiring had to be wrapped and sheathed with heat wrap. The engine in my car doesn't have standard exhaust manifolds, they are cast into the heads, so I had to buy the 4 bolt flanges and fabricate it from there. I also custom fabricated the merge pipe with a T3 flange, 2.5" v-bands on each inlet pipe, and a 44mm external wastegate flange. I built it all out of stainless pipe and I built the 3" stainless downpipe out of mostly pie cuts due to there being no room behind the driver side headlight. It was ALOT of work for 5-8 psi of boost.
Hands down the best build series you guys have put together. Great group of pros! Really shows the manpower, patience, and the measuring tape that it takes to makes it possible.
