Mike D interviews Pharrell Williams & Chad Hugo of N.E.R.D. / The Neptunes

This was originally shot so I could transcribe it for Grand Royal Magazine but that never happened because they went bankrupt. This was filmed at Record Plant recording studio in Hollywood. Im pretty sure this was in 2000 but maybe it was 2001, not totally sure.
Figured it should finally see the light of day here cuz it's a pretty cool time capsule.

man i miss this time period of Pharrell the beats were so crazy him and Chad were ahead of time with those amazing records back then. even when the band N.E.R.D first came around I wasn't old enough but I remember hearing certain songs they did and i instantly fell in love with there sound. Pharrell is definitely in my top 5 best producers ever VA STAND UP🖖

i was about 10 years old and i kind of liked it. it wasnt until beautiful came out with snoopdog came out i was like woah i like this dude pharrell dresses like a skater kind of like me but hes with a hip hop guy

I’m 39. This was my era’s Hip Hop. It was such an amazing magical time seeing them grow and come out. I got goosebumps everytime I heard new songs and beats. Gosh man it was so inspiring. I remember getting a Korg Triton because they had one. I also wore trucker hats and camo shorts bc they had them lol

Nah in search of had a different 'electronic' version in 01 that came out exclusively in the uk before they rerecorded it with live instruments and released it in North America. so its definitely in or before 2001
