- The beautiful Ms Cathleen Nesbitt is interviewed by David Hartman during her return to the role of Mrs Higgins in the 1981 revival My Fair Lady, alongside her original son, Rex Harrison. She had already appeared in the 1938 film of Pygmalion, and had created the role in the musical in 1956. She passed away the year following this production, having had a career spanning eight decades, and one of the longest in show business.
I was in this production of My Fair Lady with Ms. Nesbitt, and she was just the sweetest and most unpretentious lady. Here she was, age 92, and a Grande Dame of the theater. Yet during lunch breaks while rehearsing in Times Square, she would walk by herself over to McDonald's, and return to eat in the theater lobby.
I saw that 1981 revival tour when it played Boston. Cathleen received prolonged entrance applause.
I have loved her since I viewed her in "An Affair To Remember" The very first time!!! The magic she carries!! The woman seemed to me to be an ANGEL!!!
She is absolutely phenomenal!!!
Great, great LADY!!!
Such a beautiful lady who looked and sounded amazing.🇬🇧
Beautiful! I have longed for live footage of her!
I am very glad to be providing it! I was quite surprised there were no other clips of her specifically on CZcams.
I loved her. She was amazing!
What an amazing long career and life well lived. Loved her in An Affair to Remember, as so many did. She had the grace of an angel.
Unforgettable in THE HAUNTING OF JULIA.
Same here....just stumbled across the brilliant film and bought the bluray. " ALL SAFE AND DEAD...all safe and dead"! "She laughed....SHE LAUGHED"!! Prominant acting beyond the others...so much emotion. Remember her in a lot of Rank Stewart Granger and Margaret Lockwood films.
