Their reputation is half well deserved. Half is improper modification and abuse, half is issues that Subaru refuses to fix. Rods, ringlands, oil pickup, turbo inlet. The number of stock cars that fail with subies is much higher than say Honda, toyota, or Mazda. Now I love subies I’ve had 2 Wrx and currently have an sti. To touch on reliability there are literally “reliability mods” that are recommended to do even if your not modding for power lol.
