I have observed from junior high school PE showers that cicumciision appears to be influenced by the social-economic position of the family and as an adult, I heard that if the father is uncircumcised the infant boy will probably be as dad, especially if the wife-'s male family members were uncircumcised. When I asked my parents about the subject, the response was ease of cleanliness & the military encourages the practice for the same reason including diseases.I have heard that the older a male is the more painful the procedure. As an adult, I would not get circumcised unless my MD really encouraged the procedure.
This is so sad. They basically know nothing about it, but they get to make the decision for their newborn sons.
Luckily most of them would make the right choice.
It's more dangerous for a male to be uncircumcised than it is for him to be circumcised.

As a Brit in Britain who chose to be circumcised as an adult, I'd love to meet an American lady for whom this is normal. In Britain it's a minority.
