Toronto Maple Leafs fans finish singing US anthem after technical difficulties

- November 18, 2014, leafs vs nashville predators. The mic cut out partway through the us national anthem and the Canadian fans took it from there!
I happened to be filming the anthem because I have 2 daughters, 2 and 4 years old who always stand up with me and sing both countries anthems when we are watching the games from home on TV, so since I had the chance to watch a game live, I thought I'd record it for them to see later at home. Turns out it was a feel good moment for Canadians and Americans, and I'm glad I caught it on video and could share it!

Canadiens are special, and I mean that it the best way possible. We couldn't ask for better neighbors, speaking as someone who lives below the 49th Parallel. O Canada is the only other national anthem I've made an effort to learn, other than Mel Brook's "Let them all go to hell, except cave 76" anthem, but that one is hard to forget from his 2,000 year-old man albums.
So do i.
American Veteran here. Our Canadian brothers and sisters are a very kind and loyal people. I will bare arms to protect and defend.
Protect from who? Its 2021 for gods sake and nobodys going to invade canada or the us. The whole us military is just pointless.
Protect from who? Well, Canada has already been destroyed, or very close thereof (along with USA and much of the world), via the infiltration. czcams.com/video/8Jb8KqaerhQ/video.html

I was an American working in Canada right after 9-11. I commuted from south east Michigan to Windsor Ontario almost daily. The first time I crossed into Windsor after the attack, I was overcome by emotion. The cabs, trucks, and private cars were flying small American flags in support of their American neighbors to the north. (Yes, I said north. Windsor is directly south of Detroit Michigan.) I worked a lot in Canada, and quickly fell in love with the country and it's people. This action by the Toronto fans is just another example of "loving thy neighbor."
I am from Ontario, and I was 15 then and still remember the outpouring of support for our amazing neighbours. I will never forget the reciprocal gratitude displayed. Love from Canada🇨🇦

I was working at major coffee shop down by the conference centre in Vancouver BC and we decided to wear US flag pins and some were US/Canada flag pins to commemorate 9/11 in 2002. No big deal. HIgh percentage of American customers come in every day. One business gentleman asked about one I was wearing, so shared a bit of how I felt it was important, and how it impacted so many people, and lots of ppl come in from the US here and hope ppl know that we care. Kind of nodded in agreement, then walked off and waited for his drink. Some ppl cleared out and he came back and explained teary eyed and holding back full-on crying that such a small gesture has made a big impact on him being away from home for the first anniversary, and wanted to tell us how special it was to him to see being in an entirely different country. I still remember the sincerity, and seriousness of him coming back to explain how much it meant. Gives me goosebumps and teary eyes myself.

It's pretty easy.
+Winter xx How could you not know it? The only reason I know The Star Spangled Banner is from watching sports down through the years. Don't they broadcast Oh Canada in the American broadcasts?
graham grasdal They probably do in Hockey, but I just started getting into hockey. Most of what I watched has been football and occasionally baseball.
Winter xx now you have a friend from BC too :)
When Canadians are more patriotic then American's, tears thank you..
I don’t know why but I started tearing up and got chills.
As a citizen of the U.S. it makes me proud to be Canada’s neighbor! Visited twice and probably will again.
Glad you enjoyed the time up here. We'd be glad to have you stop by again.
mp5man I’m Canadian and proud to have America as our neighbours. Not just because we get to hear about the dumb things that happen mostly in Florida but because you guys can be pretty great sometimes.

Love from Canada. I always count Americans as family. Beers in the fridge, you can sleep on the couch. Dinner is at 5. :)

Love from America. White claws in the fridge, you can sleep on the air mattress and we are ordering deep fried Big Macs at 9. But no really, love from America 😂

“Oh Canada, we stand on guard for thee.” Such class. Thank you from an American. And for those Americans who don’t know their national anthem.. learn it. Be diversified. Have class.
Damn...this legitimately brought a tear to my eye. That's a tremendous showing of heart and fellowship. You weren't the friend we deserved, Canada, but the friend we needed.
Upmost love and respect from Tennessee
Thanks so much! Hope you're well.
Awwww thanks 😊
I love how you put that - "the friend we needed." So true! Thank you Canada, from Florida.

Thank you Toronto fans for standing up as you did. Proud to be a Canadian.
I learned the canadian national anthem after this. Canada are the nicest, vest neighbors we could ask for. Couldn't be prouder to share a border with you guys. Thank you.
Thanks Taylor.
I'm giving you a test next week. I want to hear the English, French and bilingual versions.
@@Youdontknowwhatliterallymeans That's not fair. I'm Canadian and I don't even know the French version (nor do I want to).

I've always loved Canada, some of the most kind people you'd ever meet, but this.... this takes who they are as a country to a whole new level.

I knew nothing of this until I overheard a co worker talking about it on December 18th of 2017. I don’t think I’ve ever been so moved in such a way. Brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful early Christmas presant. I will speak for all North Americans of pure heart. We love our Northern neighbors. You are everything that is good in virtuous hearts. Thank you, from the Phoenix of Arizona. Long live Canada and the Canadian people. ☮️🇨🇦🇺🇸☮️
I know this is long late, thanks!
Just found this in 2021. From this US Citizen, Thanks Canada! Pure class!
Live in colorado. Canadian solider is renting a house down the street. He is from Ontario, I am originally from Buffalo, NY. We talk quite a bit.
He was giving me a hard time telling me about hockey and how I dont know much about it. So I started singing the Canadian National Anthem. He joined in. Then apologized for saying I didnt know anything about hockey.
