    Thanks for the video! Seem like you were struggling with those front rattling clip. May I suggest a long needle nose plier, pinch the middle and use another plier to pull out top, it's much easier that way. Other than that, nice work! I would get some gloves.

      Lol I know, I figured if I was gonna spend a few hours on it, I'm making a video. Plus it turned out to be pretty entertaining...I thought at least 🤣

    Let me know how these workout for you, the rotors dont warp because the oem rotors suck, its that they're too small for the vehicle to they overheat fast, drilled and slotted rotors may help with that but its most likely going to be miniscule. There are a few upgrade kits that have larger rotors in diameter and different calipers but obviously more expensive. The way I see it when I take this thing to the dealer anytime they touch the brakes its 1200 a pop for all 4, normally the car always is getting the rear pads replaced. I've only had to replace rotors once. I also rarely drive it since I work from home. But I do plan on making the switch to larger rotors and calipers rather than putting new oem stuff there next time around. I have a 2016 xc90

      @@om1kron that's great information! So far we have had no issues. I do need to pop off the tires and inspect everything. It's been a year since the install. When w rhad the OEM rotors it was within a few months that we noticed the issue, both times.

    Edit on torque specs: Large caliper bracket bolt is 148 lb/ft and smaller bolt is 28 lb/ft. Screw on rotor is about 40 lb/ft and lug bolts are 103 lb/ft.

    • @sonnynguyen2319
      @sonnynguyen2319 Před rokem

      148lb for the bracket and is it 50lb or 28lb for the caliber bolts? Also do you know if you can reuse the bracket bolt or do you need new ones?

    • @HeavyMetalWRX
      @HeavyMetalWRX  Před rokem

      @@sonnynguyen2319 I had to get a new bracket bolt. I also had to clean out the brackets because the bolts have some Loctite on them already on the edges. Let me confirm the torque specs.

      @@HeavyMetalWRX had a question... why didnt you just use power tools to take off the bracket bolts.?

  • @pharmztko
    @pharmztko Před rokem

    I push the caliper piston back in the same way, with a c-clamp but instead of putting the c-clamp directly on the lip of the piston, I put the old brake pad in there and push against the pad. 👍

    • @HeavyMetalWRX
      @HeavyMetalWRX  Před rokem

      Yea that's what you SHOULD do but my c clamp was too small to get around the caliper and the brake pad. I need to get a bigger one for the future.

    • @waybach
      @waybach Před rokem

      Next time just grab any two tools (2 wrenches) in a scissor form press against piston using an old brake pad. Doesn’t take that much strength to push back the piston doing it this way. Just a low down diy tip :)

    Friendly tip, wipe down the rear and front of the new rotors with some brake cleaner

      Great suggestion! I actually didn't have anything. I realized how unprepared I was for this. Next time for sure I will remember. 🤘

    Tip - Go by Harbor Freight and grab a channel lock set and a 3/8 and 1/2 drive pull handle.
    Do you think your wife drove through some standing water? That will warp the shit out of rotors.

    • @HeavyMetalWRX
      @HeavyMetalWRX  Před rokem

      Not really, just regular driving. I'll have to check that out. I do need to sure up my toolbox...by first buying a toolbox 🤣🤣
