Why we have a system that is letting down thousands when it should be a readily affordable proceeded. While Mr Beast does not have to be political, he's kind of not addressing half the problem. My favorite aspect of Ari Melber is his ability to juggle multiple, often conflictual things that are true. He can embrace the complexity of a situation and not get caught in the this or that loop. He also politely validates others opinions before offering opposing or additional points of view and after such widespread and constant sparring I find good old fashioned manners so powerfully refreshing. I wish we had more people in the public eye like him.
Ari Melber for president or Supreme Court Judge. The right wing would hate him because he doesn't get rattled with corrupt slick lies told to conservatives by conservatives who are Maga for life.

Just like the cat litter story. NO BATHROOMS have cat litter. Classrooms DO have buckets with litter for active shooters and school lockdown. So some ASSHOLE said students crap in litter boxes. NOT TRUE but people want to be angry SAME for this story no one complained about him fixing eyes. To me it shows how out of touch Bill is.
@Jeff Heyer it wasn't, it was left news sites that were complaining. Bill mentioned BuzzFeed. That's how far this stupidity has gone, that now is wrong to correct a disability.
I completely agree, as someone who was born normal, like the majority of people, and have been blind for the last 5+ years so I have been on both sides of the spectrum, it wouldn't make sense to say don't get a procedure or surgery done for that reason, if you lost your legs in a terrible accident, and you had the capability to restore the legs through surgery, why would you tell that person not to do it? If it is a means to improve their lives; I don't agree with the literacy comment though, because if you understand and aware of it, you can put effort toward it to "fix" it, money isn't really an issue, but when it comes to medical situations, especially things are kind of more of a one-way street, maybe not in a case of Cataracs, but the other visual impairment problems like what I have, we just don't have that technology yet, and we probably won't for another 80 to 100 years
Cataracts are damage to the lens over time, and very easy to correct. Who wouldn’t like to have their vision back? No doubt the critics have good vision and no nothing about the suffering of others - which requires little imagination and a sprinkle of empathy.

I love Christoph Waltz. Dude could be a comedian himself. He just sits back quietly and listens, but when he says something it is usually insightful and frequently hilarious.
Also a bit of a liberal hack. He kept deflecting on the show how MSNBC could do better but without actually taking into account Bill's criticism of the lockdowns, Muller bs report, immunity, etc.

Waltz's, Hans Landa's brilliant juxtaposition of being cheerful and courteous while performing monstrous acts is unforgettable. He creates massive cognitive dissonance - like I said, unforgettable.
Excellent point. I would add the other stand out performance of a similar juxtaposition is the Gus Fring character in Breaking Bad. Whether he is the fast food Regional Manager or cartel distributor, Giancarlo Esposito's performance is astonishing.
Not talking about the content(it was good to), just the way it was delivered. That's was a great clip, everyone was quick and concise in there answers, he'll even the jokes were told in the least amount of words possible, well done to all. A real master class on both hosting and commenting.
Ari mentioned urban planning. Good urban planning is desperately needed in probably 98% of all locales - and was truly needed before any of them were built (and, of course, as they evolve). However and unfortunately, it appears the majority of individuals in positions of responsibility these locales failed the competency test.
An amorphous task. High-density was the goal (enviro footprint, transportation) then came social distancing, and the decline of brick and mortar commerce. Watch for cost-effective re-purposing of malls and office blocks - not trendy warehouse loft conversions, but centralized seniors and low-mid income housing.
There is no such thing as “smart growth” or “planned growth”. They are lies our leaders tell us to get us to go along with unsustainable population growth and development. That’s why every day we and the planet are in worse shape.
Real estate developers made high rise offices cause they could sell the space. They can't as much anymore so they will try to convert office space to housing. Excellent discussion of ageism, the kissing cousin of gender bias and distant relative of racism. As one prejudice is removed, another sadly, tries to take its place. Great comments on the subject from the brilliant journalist Ari Melber and the brilliant actor Christopher Waltz.
I'm an American living in Japan where the "retirement age" is generally 60. The company hires you back part-time for 5 years in which most struggle as their pension won't start until 65. I'm now a "retired" teacher / lawyer at 59. When the pandemic hit my company (Hitachi) had to let people go and I got unlucky. (I used to prep workers heading overseas about laws, customs, psychology and English they would experience. During the pandemic, no need for that). I currently substitute at a school near me, but mostly I babysit the students. I have huge amounts of knowledge on history and English (the subjects I taught back in the US), but no one will hire me here now because of my age. One class I subbed for last week was a business class. With the teacher gone they were suppose to write down vocabulary they didn't know. I noticed one word was redundancy. I pointed out to the students that this was a British usage and Americans would never use it like that in business. All the students wrote it down. I found out that their teacher, British, didn't even know that Americans didn't use the word like that. He taught a couple of years in Britain and a few months in Japan only. Sigh.
Look, I'm 75, and the difference is that Ageism is based in FACT. The mind slows as we age - that is FACT. Biden is TOO OLD. Reagan had alzheimers WAY before they admitted it. I suspect Waltz's mention of literacy was also a dig at Maher's representation of objections to Mr Beast's video. I'm open to being proven wrong, but it really doesn't seem likely that people were objecting to blind people having corrective surgery.
"Why do we need to go to work?" Um. Bill. This isn't a new thought. Why do we need to go to work? We don't. People higher up in many companies want people to come to work subsequent to their power, control and an antiquated "this is the way it works" close-minded perspective. Often, these are the top 3% in the company who make (they certainly don't earn - no one does) as much, if not more, than the other 97% of employees (including all the ones who do the work and help the company remain profitable *despite* incompetent management). I want to point out to you all that the cost of living in Knoxville Tennessee has gone up so much that it is pricing people like me who have lived there and made our lives here out of living here. I can't afford my rent because the house that I live in has quadrupled in value. My wages haven't gone up but the cost for me to live where I live and it's not a great part of Knoxville has become too much for me to do. All of these Interlopers that have decided to move here are outbidding and buying out and buying multiple properties for well over asking price. It's such a bad artificial bubble hear that when it busts it's really going to hurt a lot of people who decided that it was okay to pay $250,000 for a $60,000 property.
I like how Isgur cited those red states for not have an income tax. Washington state also doesn't have one. Oregon doesn't have a sales tax. For anyone in politics or finance they know that states rely on 3 sources, state income tax, sales tax, and fees. If you remove one the others go up. Either that or you degrade services to a ridiculous point. If you look at Oregon, they have no way of dealing with the added homeless crisis because they just don't have the money. Yet the fees you pay for getting a license for anything is double or triple other states. And maintenance of infrastructure does suffer. (Portland was told after the Kobe earthquake to put metal sleeves on the pillars that support their highway system through the city and as far as I know, they still haven't done it.)

I’ve never heard of criticism from that angle… I know Hasan Piker was pissed off because the issue displays how shitty America’s healthcare system is but I don’t expect Maher to talk about that nowadays… easier to rag on ‘the woke left’
Because the actual issue was people saying it's fine to help 1000 people and create youtube content, but actually why wasn't MR beast putting out the question why he had to do this in the first place? Why we have a system that is letting down thousands when it should be a readily affordable proceeded. While Mr Beast does not have to be political, he's kind of not addressing half the problem. There is a fine line with social media, between doing something to genuinely help someone, and doing it for the content and clicks, and it can be easy to claim as much as he's helping, he's creating poverty porn. Tbh I would like Mr beast using this to push to get some sort of bill through to help sufferers, because this should be easy bi partisan stuff everyone should agree with.

I love Christoph Waltz, he is one of the best actors of all time.
Waltz's restrained responses say as much as his carefully chosen words. He's quite possibly one of the world's best.
Have you ever been on a set with people you hate?
I expected: "...I'm doing it right now!"
@@lancefromohio Bill Maher is losing it and he doesn't realize it yet.
Waltz pretty much murdered that entire panel with his shadow. I doubt he'll ever be invited on again but I sure hope he does because he does so well at keeping the BS to a minimum.

Ari Melber is awesome! Intelligent and indeed funny whilst also being a ‘ class act’
He has always been my favorite, after Rachel Maddow...Lawrence is pretty good, but arrogant in his delivery..Ari sticks to the facts!
He is all those things, and did a fine job defending his broadcast. But was at a total loss when it came to defending his network. Tough position for any legit person in cable news.

Nah he's another shill for the DNC. Completely lies about Republicans and Trump. He's another one that doesn't like Democracy. MSNBC is worse than CNN.
@@dannywitt5160 He is employed by NBC, not DNC. Hope that clarifies your error.
The right wing would hate him because he doesn't get rattled with corrupt slick lies told to conservatives by conservatives who are Maga for life.

convert unused office space into apartments and bring this sh*t full circle
I’ve been saying that since early in the pandemic, when I realized how well I could work from home because of technology advances. Retrofit office buildings into condos/apartments. Lower outrageous condo fees. We need more housing.
Yup. Let's see - housing crisis, seniors galore .. decline in brick and mortar commercial use ..
That sounds great, but I don't see city's zoning laws changing any time soon to accommodate that.
It'd be cheaper to tear down office buildings and construct new apartments. Conversions would be hugely expensive, difficult, and time-consuming. Oh, and a tip of the hat to the zoning boards... :)

No one complained about him fixing their eyes. It's made up. The ONLY thing people said is he shouldn't use it for clicks to make money. It's made up story to get people angry. Bill took the bait.
The lens replacement procedure is a great one, and generally covered by insurance...Many older people need this to happen.

Exceptionally good panel this show.
It goes on and on.
Exactly!

Sarah is spot on with the training our current staff had no issues but trying to train people remote vs being in the office and having the support hands on is overwhelming. So many new people cannot tell their ass from their elbows.

I love this woman Sarah Isgur . She's so smart .This is a tough show for women because of Bill. (Notice he never has 2 women.) She did great!
She also neglected to mention that Red States get Federal Funds from Blue States - by and large - only Texas pays in more than it gets back.
Degrade services is good. Dont take anything from me dont give me anything. Free market
