So Starfield is here... It's a game. It's Skyrim in space... It's Fallout in space... It's Oblivion in space???
Either way I've been having a really fun time playing Starfield so far and thought it would be fun to set myself a little challenge. I must visit every single planet in the game, before finishing the game. The one downside? well, according to the in-game menu, moons and dwarf planets are counted as planets too... so this is going to take a while.
Buckle up space cowboy.

Smart on Todd for using "open" instead of "barren" or "empty".
Well it’s a good description word and he’s absolutely right they’re all open to explore. Not all of these planets are populated by people or even alien life but you can explore them. Honestly one of the best parts for me personally was just calmly walking through these various environments whether I had enemies to fight or if I was just scanning rocks. It’s a calming experience
@@roadkill6778 My point exactly, because it's not inaccurate, as you can interpret them several different ways. I don't mean to sound like he's out to get us, though it certainly feels like an oral/literary slight-of-hand with the way he uses these terms contra what is given to us.
I feel like it would've made more sense if he said "and we added a bajillion empty planets to add stuff to with mods!" rather than that they're just open to explore
@@Betsybabe3218 I think that's exactly what he thought would happen. It's an obvious conclusion to make, although with how much untouched space there is on even a single planet, 1000+ I'd say is slightly overkill.
@@TheREALSimagination The issue is if you want modders to fill in your game, you need to focus in on making a solid foundation upon which they can build. Starfield is not that.
I love the progression from "you guys should get this game. Its good" in the beginning to "i couldve made a better game than this"😂😂

Stowing away in someone elses spaceship, having them take off and then hijacking it should be an actual feature
If you get onto a grounded ship before it takes off, like actually in past the loading bay door, it can take off with you in it. You'll get a loading screen as the ship moves from planet to space, but they'll just do their thing until you alert them.
it literally is a feature. i was in the middle of stealing someones ship when it took off. it's actually kind of annoying because you have to go to a shipyard to get your ship back.

Simple reason the crowd density isnt impressive is that games have had more density than that for decades.
sometimes you're so undercover for the UC that you forget you're a cop, and sometimes you're such a cop that you forget the crimson fleet likes you and earn yourself a 90k bounty when raiding a science outpost. These things happen

*5 months later*
"Most of the fun from this game isn't really from exploring, [...] it's from doing the main story, the side stories, all that shit. [...] We've literally been getting the worst experience out of this game." It's almost like the game doesn't need 1000 explorable planets and would benefit from putting more focus and dev time on the stuff surrounding the main story/side story content :)))
A while back I got a 0.07% achievement for landing on 100 planets so definitely not common to explore a lot of worlds
I get that a lot of planets and moons are baren and whatnot but like… c’mon… Mars, the supposedly very colonized planet, has like one town you can visit.
@@notsusanna7485The capital of mankind's new future and the crucible from which further space exploration was kickstarted is a dozen of skyscrapers and small buildings with a couple of landpads, leading to a complete wilderness within a couple hundred meters without so much as a road cutting through it, let alone walls or any manner of infrastructure.

Definitely no bethesda fanboy cope on this channel. Though to be honest it's probably more cause he's known as the bethesda game guy to his audience and so him not liking the bethesda game is bad for business. But even COD youtubers had enough dignity to admit when the games are too trash to continue playing the new ones.
@@WinasaurusBugs and glitches don't really bother me personally. If they're funny and don't crash the game, then that's okay. But then again, if they happen too often then it's really distracting.
Like when I want to soak in the atmosphere and then there's a floating creature in the air. That sucks. I guess it depends on my mood.
What's your take on the whole Bethesda line up?
Let's say, from Daggerfall (Unity, Original?) to Fallout 4?
For me, I started with Skyrim and played almost everything else except Starfield. Love the environments Bethesda creates. Exploration is great, love it.
Starfield has no exploration and so on, that's why I don't like it.
I really liked Morrowind and New Vegas. What a surprise huh 😅
@@professionalkek8937 Started on New Vegas, loved it. Went back to Fallout 3, felt kinda boring (and way too green, my eyes still hurt) compared to Vegas. Enjoyed Fallout 4 more as a shooter with exploration than any sort of RPG. Loved Skyrim, got every achievement 5 times. Tried Morrowind and Oblivion, just a little bit too old and jank compared to the modern stuff to get into. Beat Fallout 1 and 2 though because strategy games can get away with being a little scuffed and still be enjoyable. Swinging a sword at dudes who never react until they drop dead in first-person just feels wrong. Not so much in top-down.
Tried Fallout 76, the constant server issues entirely killed my interest quickly, though the exploration was nice.
Played Starfield, did the main quest, tried doing side quests for something fun and there was nothing. Tried exploring for fun and found nothing. Literally fell asleep on the way to a quest and realised I'm wasting my time so refunded.
Some bugs can be funny enough to not mind, or if they're not really impactful. Like getting stopped by a bandit in Skyrim after a bridge toll but I was a werewolf at the time. Doesn't seem intended, very funny though, and they'd have been meaningless combat anyway. Meanwhile on Xbox 360 I had my save file break entirely where I couldn't progress the main quest at all. Ulfric wanted me to deliver the axe to declare war to Whiterun, Greybeards wanted me to ask Ulfric to come to peace talks. Ulfric refused to respond to me until I delivered the axe. Balgruuf refused to speak to me to accept the axe because he was acting like I had a bounty when I didn't. Not a fun bug. But doesn't seem very common and I was up to shenanigans with killing people in Whiterun so I can kind of accept that I may have caused it at some point.
But Starfield's bugs were ridiculous. Can't shoot. Fix? Change your characters gender. Ship constantly taking off without me on it. Fix? There is none. It's a common bug with the ship. Pirate ships automatically taking off with me inside, usually killing me with the fall. Fix? There is none, just don't enter the ship after you kill everyone to avoid it.
It felt so bad to play because half the time I was playing I had to keep things in mind to NOT bug the game. "Ok, don't loot the pirates you just spawnkilled, you might get trapped in the ship. Ok, don't open the menu too fast after using slo-mo, you might get the perma-slow bug. Ok, don't use this ship, it sometimes just leaves.", it would be like playing Skyrim but every playthrough there's a whole weapon class you can't use in case your game just breaks. Just ruins the fun entirely as you have to keep it in mind, taking you out of the game. There is no "Oh boy I got this cool new thing, let's give it a go" (like I did when I got Azura's star and actually started enchanting stuff), instead it's "Oh god do I even want to start using this or is it going to break something?".
I mean, he's not wrong
Gotta love this game fun for 10 hours and then it’s unbearably terrible when you realize that 10 hours was as deep as it gets. Emil literally blocked me on Twitter for saying “ the game is as deep as a puddle”

I got the achievement on xbox for "landing on 100 planets" and it was soul/time draining, going through the same freaking 'set course to Frost' or some other planet 100+ times, waiting for the small stupid cut scenes it takes to actually land on the planet, then going back into the galaxy map in the pause menu and choosing different planets in different solar systems to land on, then having to travel back to other solar systems that you already finished in order to reach the other solar systems that you have not, then waiting a few more seconds to get to those solar systems because of the loading screen and grav jump timer even though it is just seconds it depends on how much power you are diverting to your grav engine 7 seconds for one power bar to 1.5 seconds long for the max amount of power bars you divert to it, then after reaching the solar system going back into the galaxy map then making the final jump to the system to reach the planet(s) that you need to land on to get this achievement..... I am so happy that i will never have to do this again and I salute you for attempting this challenge 🫡
