Yep, Aventurine doesn't know who Firefly is or that she even exists. The Silver-Haired girl he mentions is most likely Robin, the one he does know about.

When Adventurine and Sparkle talked about a mute they said 'he' in quotations, when Adventurine and Acheron talked about the same mute they used 'she', pretty sure they were talking about Sam, especially since the line 'our Stellaron friends identity' was a mistranslation and was supposed to say 'Stellaron Hunter friend'. That whole conversation about a mute who survived was about Firefly. They don't know if Robin made it back from the other side yet.

I finished the quest within 24 hours of release but I'm not sure if I beat him pre-nerf because he wasn't very hard. Then again I was using Kafka/Black Swan/Ruan Mei/Huo Huo
The aventurine boss was such a struggle, and the aventurine stone was already broken to pieces, imagine if he was at his full power

@@grimm7783 From what I heard online, people dont have enough AoE dmg to meet the 9 score when rolling the dice. Also, some are unprepared and do not bring a shielder with them. So yeah, basically SKILL ISSUES
And also its not like you can dodge the upcoming attacks like in genshin 😅
@@yta5234 Also a money issue, newer players dont have enough AOE or healers and shielder and characters to cleanse negative effects with positive skill points.

Needing certain units isn't skill issue, it's not knowing what you need before the fight.
Also I really hope they don't do this again with the whole "Bring this particular kind of unit or get fucked." No one style of unit should be required for clearing a story boss. MoC or PF, sure. But not story.
I want to talk about Sunday because many people including Bran seem to underestimate how difficult his current situation is. He's the leader of the Oak family and has a lot of pressure about the upcoming Charmony festival and murders taking place in Penacony. His sister just died and he has no time to grieve and avenge her, the Family doesn't care about the murderer and an IPC ambassador wants to take an advantage of this situation and his sister's death and give Penacony back to IPC. Despite this he's still trying to mantain a perfect image, even though we can see the hints of him struggling to do so (Aventurine saying Sunday doesn't look good and asking him if he's anxious, Sunday taking his anger out on Gallagher). Sunday doesn't know Aventurine's backstory and has no reason to sympathize with him but he's definitely not a cartoon villain as some paint him to be. I think he has been a very interesting character so far and I'm intrigued by his involvement in the story.
He’s definitely a complex character, but I don’t think he’s a good person either. IMO he’s the person who’s been corrupting harmony and from how sus he’s being he might? be the final boss. We’ll have to wait and see in the next patch
@@Crystal19375 I don't think he's a very good person as well (I loved Aventurine's comment on the Penacony model in the Dewlight Pavilion showcasing how much Sunday likes to be in control over others) but his behavior towards Aventurine in this patch is totally undestandable. It's great to have complex characters and I can't wait to see how the story wraps up in the next patch.
@@Crystal19375 The final scene with Gallagher when Sunday's shadow turned into SUD made me think that he's the reason why death became possible within the Dreamscape, probably unknowingly so. The loading screen info says that SUD is believed to be a manifestation of people's fear of death and murder and I wonder if this is actually relevant to the story.
he's def not a cartoon villain and he clearly has some issues around his sister dying, but i hate him purely for his religious pastor vibes lmao. if people could hate aventurine before he actually truly did anything and hate him based off sus creepy stalker vibes, i think it's fine if people hate sunday for his sus big religious villain vibes.
@@Crystal19375 Nothing indicate he's the one corrupting the Harmony, and he's easily among the least sus among the "Suspect" cast because he clearly just wants to avenge his sister. If anything, the way the rest of the Family has closed their eyes to "death" makes them more likely to be the reason the "Harmony" of the dreamscape is falling.
Aventurine most likely hasn't died as all that last talk with Acheron was to help him not want to die (plus Ratio's message). The cornerstones are not connected to their lives so now Aventurine just has to leave that "void" I think. He just died in a dream and people speculate that irl he could be in a state of coma or smth like that :>

What i understand is that he's kinda dead (?) The place they is the land of the dead, because the family protects themselves from that, the hole point is that he can return from this land, just as firefly did, so he's technically dead, i guess...
From my understanding:
-Aventurine has bypassed the “barrier” set up by the Family into the “true” Dreamscape, where the Watchmaker’s Legacy resides, which was blocked off to hide death and the truth.
-Unlike the Family’s Dreamscape, the true Dreamscape is not protected from death, meaning if you die here, it’s for real. That’s Aventurine’s gamble, to make it back alive like Sam and Firefly.
-The Cornerstone stopped glowing because of Acheron. Since her sword is “sharp”, as she puts it, enough to slice the brand of the Harmony off of Aventurine, it also should be able to sever his ties to the Path of Preservation. Since Stonehearts “chisel their wills into their Cornerstones” according to Ratio, his disconnection from Preservation caused his Cornerstone’s light to die out.

I'm pretty sure we can just assume Firefly acted all friendly with us in 2.0 because as she said before, her script was to get the Astral Express to chase down the watchmakers legacy, so getting the Trailblazer to trust and like her so that when she 'dies' TB will want to take it seriously and have motivation to find out what happened. But there's also the point that in Kafkas companion quest she implies TB was friends with the Stellaron Hunters before their memory got wiped so Firefly already knows TB somewhat.
Another interesting thing about Firefly/Sam to me, is in lore of the Glamoth ornament set, its says that the Iron Cavalry (the species that Firefly is) are genetically engineered warriors made to wear silver mechs and that no one knows the faces behind them. I think that line plus what Firefly says about being stuck in a 'medical cabin' in real life unable to use her own body implies that she cant take the armour off, like at all, I wonder if the other Stellaron Hunters even know who Firefly is tbh. Penacony enabling her to walk around in her own body is probably insanely emotional for her and sad af to think about. I just think shes a very interesting character and 2.2 is gonna kill me with her lore lol.
Her "unforgettable gains" that Elio promised her might even be the ability to be in her own body freely, could also give a reasonable explanation behind why she could be playable (that is if it isn't just Sam that's playable, also not taking Leaks into account because of how Bran personally feels about them and how they've changed over the course of Penacony)
On the other hand, our gains might be an ally, new Express member, or even some of our old memories or something
I honestly think she was actually being sincere with us especially due to the fact we knew her.
You gotta remember, all of the Stellaron Hunters know the Trailblazer because we were with them before Kafka and Silverwolf implanted the Stellaron inside of us. Firefly is most likely being very genuine with us emotionally through the whole story.
She was incredibly happy when we trusted her and she opened up to us very quickly about part of her past and said she would tell us everything eventually but couldn’t at the time
@@MrShamus22 if anything, Firefly could be the one to tell us more about our time as a Hunter herself, it seems like she'd be more than willing to share some more info with us even if it is bare minimum do script constraints or whatever

The EN translation messed up a few things, besides the "minion of Enigmata" text there's also the part where Aventurine and Acheron talk about their "Stellaron" friend making it sound like they're talking about the trailblazer, however they missed an important bit which is "Stellaron Hunter friend" as they're referring to Firefly/Sam.
Aventurine is not dead, he's beyond the dreamscape into the "other side" which is where Firefly and Robin went after getting stabbed by Death, and the mute he's talking about is Firefly, since we can see she managed to get back into the dreamscape. Which is why missing that "Hunter" from the line completely changes the whole context xD
The mute he’s talking about is more than likely Robin.

@@fuyukiryujin3723 Is the other mute possibly Gallagher? In Firefly's case, it looks like she had to become "Sam" to continue living. Going by what Sunday said in the end, it sounded like Gallagher had to graft himself together to become "real" again. Also, he said he said he was "13" years old.
@@xl3lueberrythe dialogue between Aventurine and Acheron at the end is referring to Firefly, she's the second mute because she's a stowaway. There is no trace of her even outside of the dreamscape, because she isn't a guest at the hotel. She got in the dreamscape with Silver Wolf's help, as it's hinted heavily that SW can hack the dreamscape too.
It's implied that Firefly has always been Sam, in the Glamoth set description it is also hinted that Sam can be piloted in a similar way to the way people can enter the dreamscape in Penacony, which is supposedly the same way firefly is able to pilot Sam.
Sam/Firefly's purpose due to Elio's script was to make sure that the Astral Express was going to go after the Watchmaker's legacy as well, which is why Firefly got close to us and pushed us to investigate by "faking" her death (this isn't confirmed but my personal speculation), and as Aventurine and Acheron discuss she managed to give to the "other side" in the real dreamscape after getting stabbed by "Death" and managed to come back too.
Gallagher is probably not a mute, but an history fictionologist (faction following Mythus the Enigmata) and anything he says its probably not super reliable considering the whole purpose of Enigmata is to spread misinformation and erase memories to install doubts (this is what history fictionologists do).
There's also apparently four aspects of the Enigmata which are Morph, Screen, Riddle and Mirage. Gallagher is heavily implied to be Morph hence why he took traits of different family members and put them together. The number "13" is also associated to the arcana of death in tarots as well as having something related to morph which i don't recall well atm.
There's very likely Riddle too around, considering the whole plot started with a Riddle imbued into the music box sent as invitation to the different factions.
And the Watchmaker is likely connected to the Enigmata as well, or it seems to be hinted so but can't be sure.
The issue is Enigmata is quite literally the path of misinformation and mystery, so their involvement means we can never be sure about anything related to them at this point 😂
@@fuyukiryujin3723 One problem. The mute Aventurine refers to at the end is Robin, solely due to the fact he doesn't know about Firefly's existence. Robin at this point would have seen the truth and came back, but we have not seen her. Why could that be if not for her being the mute? Firefly, on the other hand, has NOT seen the truth, because she is not connected to the dreamscapes. Acheron's "death" may be able to get around that though, hence why she told Acheron to draw her sword.
The first time Aventurine hears of a death other than Robin's is when he has already split from the Trailblazer and is with Ratio. After this point, we know everything he has done. There was no time at all for him to find out who Firefly was, so he just simply does not know, even after his "death." Sparkle's "no" at Aideen Park is simply "No, you did not need to find her specifically." She didn't actually mean Robin wasn't a mute. The question Aventurine asked was not "Is Robin a mute?" It was "Was Robin the one you wanted me to find?"
So unless you can say when and how exactly Aventurine found out about Firefly when he had zero time to do so, the mute he was talking about is Robin. And he did mean Stellaron, not Stallaron Hunter. There aren't any reported translation errors about that. And even if you want to say it was Hunter, it would still fit the Trailblazer if they are talking about their true identity.
I play the quest pre-nerf, there's no "minnion of Enigmata" in the text. I believe it added later after nerf since players complaining that JP, CN, and KR mention Gallagher as the minnion of Enigmata but not EN, that explain the silent part on the dialogue

I really like what they did with Aventurine. It was clear that there was more than meets the eye about this character and the character arc he went through was really well written with all that focus on him and his voice actor was really good too.
How his voice was so soft when talking to little Kakavasha in the end melted my heart

From my own understanding, the "death" brought upon by the Memory Zone meme and Acheron were 2 different things. That might also be the reason why Sam was so intent on making Acheron draw her blade during their fight.

Can't confirm the "best hoyo story" part yet, but Aventurine's story is definitely the first hoyo story that really moved me. That boy just can't catch a break.
Also I really freaking wonder what his real strength actually looked like, if all we saw was the "greatly diminished" version.

1:48:40 my interpretation on the casualty count, and as well as how the massacre happened anyway is that the IPC let the massacre happen. The fact that the only survivor was made into a slave was so fucked up on its own. It's like they let the katicans purge the avgin, and then they swooped in to defeat the katicans. That way they can just claim sigonia with no one to resist.
If by the end of this game we don't get to somehow destroy the IPC or deal with them somehow, I'm probably going to lose my mind.

I'll give you my team, if it helps.
I was using Argenti, March, Bailu and Natasha.
Argenti as my main DPS, March for shields, double healer because I heard the boss fight was difficult and I wanted to be prepared - it worked. If 1 healer dies however, the whole team will follow. I lost once, and it was as soon as Nat died. I retried, making sure to not be so careless with how I manage my teams health, fixing my rotations, and also figuring out how Argenti works again (I forgot about the 90/180 energy difference thing).
Meanwhile me: all of my character are still alive but in my team there are no dps because my team was tb fire,bailu,lynx,natasha full tanky build

We’re lucky that the Emanator is friendly with the Astral Express and willing to open up and trust us…i guess thanks to the familiar faces she knows..we get her to lend us her “meagre” strength…
It's actually interesting that Larose is an NPC that was there in 2.0 and had a mini-quest about the "Song of Beauty" when you came to fix her emotional clockwork. She can be found in the Golden Hour and the miniquest is a very sad one for me as a music lover who loves complex and unusual music alongside music which a lot of people enjoy
Oh, I haven't noticed she was there(even tho I didn't actually explored) that makes me happy. Her story about her people and the aeon of beauty maked me sad
Penacony so far is also my fav hoyo main story chapter so far.... I felt amazed when I did it, but didn't feel like redoing the quest in my alt or watch anyone play through it, even this video I skipped to the end. It did however for the first time made me read HSR in-game texts and books, focus on motifs and such like I do in Genshin. But thinking back on it now, I only did it for a day while I kept trying to figure out Fontaine and Sumeru lore for weeks almost for few patches too.
Perhaps the reason is that Genshin story is all connected back to one or two incidents, while HSR story so far only remains in it's own confinements and regions with just little bit of story tieing them to Aoens. But you dont yet know where all of this is supposed to converge.
Aventurine isn't dead, but if he doesn't survive IX's shadow, he'll die, and if he does, it'll be with after-effects, and he'll get powers from the path of nihility in much the same way as Acheron
I actually glad that i fought Aventurine pre nerfed, it was such a difficult battle it’s kinda fun, trying to beat him without any limited sustain characters, all i have is Gepard 😭😭

2:29:53 when Sunday did not speak about the minions of enigmata is that he wasn't able to say it at all, Mythus the aeon of enigmata and the entirty of the path is litteral misinformation that's ready to earse any mentions of his path by record or by saying, even the lore for them cannot be trusted as its also has misinformation even the information on Gallagher plus his signature 4 star light cone is filled with lies that has double meaning like him saying he's Thirteen is a reference to the tarro card no. thirteen DEATH
that line is actually added post patch that's why its not voiced, the JP and CN dub said the line just fine, the original english transalation stop at "Tell me I'm wrong" you can check them and compare by people who play at day 1 and people who play post update.
Yep, can attest, I finished the quest on release. “Minions of the Enigmata” wasn’t in the original patch, the localization team FUCKED UP big time forgetting to include this in the original translation, leaving the VAs unable to record it in the first place.

Bran I think you playing 2.1 is one of my favourite pieces of content from you so far. I love to see your journey in the story from hating to coming to like Aventurine. He's my favourite since I saw him so Its quite satisfying to see one of my favourite CZcamsrs coming to like a character who I also like lol- I agree with you! I think Penacony is probably my favourite story that Hoyoverse has produced so far, The writing in it is incredible. If I had so say my favorite thing about Penacony, It would probably be "All the sad tales quest" part It's with Aventurine and his past and future self, I don't know why but I got emotional at this part- And one the music in the section literally makes me cry every time! 😭 The music that's makes me cry the most starts here 1:36:27
Aventurine might just be one of Hoyo's best written characters in my opinion. Ive saved up 87 pulls for him so far I think, I hope I get him since im free to play! 🥰♥

Bran's Hot take in terms of Story arcs i agree that it is also my Top 1 Most Favorite (For Now), Penacony is Like probably the most diverse and twist and turn stories and this is a player who also played both genshin and hi3.

Fought (pre-nerf) Aventurine with Jing Yuan and it was the worse idea I had (10 Lightning Lord stacks onto his dice 😭)
A nice detail about the Firefly reveal is that she couldn't face the Trailblazer directly until she revealed herself. She really did try to tell us and felt ashamed about hiding it
And I knew Gallagher was sus.

I'm suddenly jealous of Adventurine, he has a grand last stage.

Something that was basically hinted at within 2.1 when it comes down to it is this:
Death is not permanent in Penacony. When you run that risk of dying your meant to be rescued by the Family, but in situations like what's currently happening instead while you appear dead in the Dreamscape, your body is put into a coma in the real world. That was something mentioned during the story.
The Family built a wall around the Memory Zone using the Harmony, and that wall is meant to keep stuff like the Meme from entering Penacony. (They did say this in the story)
However it has, thanks to Gallagher who is, was, one of the high ranking members of the Family who had betrayed the Family. Robin, and Sunday's sibling.
Therefore what if, when you die in Penacony you end up going beyond that wall, you get to where the Watchmakers Legacy truly is, outside of the wall of Harmony.
So in order to get there, you need to die. If you can come back, you will be revived, and therefore no longer in a comatose state.
However Acheron had said when talking to Aventurine, that it is nearly impossible to do this, to come back. Which is why it's such a gamble what he is doing.
My guess is that we will end up going beyond the wall in the next patch. We will discover what's happening on the otherside, which will then tie in nearly everything together.
Aside from my speculations on whats going on for the story I will mention this.
Gallagher basically hinted from the start when we first met him, that he was the person behind the Meme, behind Death.
"Ha, and I am 13." He said something along those lines when we were first talking to him.
13 is the tarot card of Death.
13 is commonly known to be related towards death as well in some other things too.
Oh yeah, we are also getting harmony powers next patch, they must be for a good reason

I assume the EN team translated mute to pet rock in an attempt to not be “offensive” but didn’t know it would be brought up later as an actual hint.
It's confusing right now since we still have more patches but ig that's what makes it really good since we can speculate and have something to look forward to

Genshin player here. I've watched maybe three different reactions to this patch already. Between HSR 2.1 and GI 4.2, Hoyo has set itself on an entirely different plane of storytelling. Peak Hoyo.
Ayo, in some of the recent videos there's been some audio artificing/instability that happens fairly frequently. It almost sounds like a compressor-dump or normalizer duck. The video' are still very much watchable and I still enjoyed, but thought I should point it out as something to possibly improve on!

I think Welt wouldve been able to protect the crew and destroy Aventurine, but I think the bigger impact of them showing him almost Black Hole-ing Aventurine is that he was on the brink of losing his bet for Acheron to use her sword to "kill" him from the dream.

There was an official animation where SAM flying had the same green/blue hue firefly has, and out of game there's a poem called Sam and the Firefly that I saw, but avoided reading just in case it was spoilers but was heavily floating around after the 2.0 quest

I actually didn't know that Aventurine boss was nerfed. I already defeated him before he got nerfed. I wish they didn't nerf him but it's understandable cause not all players have good built characters yet 😅. I had to repeat it once tbh cause I thought Preservation TB was enough for sustain. That prenerf Aventurine was so tanky back then 😅

Penacony is the 1st region to hype me up as much as genshin has ❤ the story does lose me at some points but oh my God that ending left me dead ass mouth agape
When I played it I understood it like all people who "died" or disappeared wanted to go to the "real dreamscape" or "beyond" that (maybe the watchmaker is there too) and Aventurine is now also trying to go there/succeeded, we don't know, but that was his plan all along and he is now on his way there. So there's still a chance that all people (Robin included) live (cause in the dreamscape there is no death), also explains why Firefly survived. When they get stabbed they go there too but going back is another thing. (many "victims" also tried to swim in the ocean at the dreamscape, so maybe there's a path cause they never emerged)

There was actually an ENG translation error at that part it should be "Our Stellaron Hunter friend's identity, isn't it?" which pertains to Firefly and not actually MC.
