  • First spin on my LC legally for 12 years, having finally been able to tax it this weekend. Loads to do still, but at least it goes!

    Great video!No music, no having to watch you put your gloves on, just the glorious sound and motion of one of the greatest 2-stroke (or any stroke!) motorcycles ever made. Well done!

    Had an X7 in 1980 as a 17 year old but always wanted a 350 YPVS, luckily managed to buy a beauty a few weeks ago so now life is complete, and original small can microns which sound amazing.

      I also had an X7 in 84/85 and I learned to pop 2nd gear wheelies for hundreds of yards on that thing ! Rarely had fun like that on a bike since.

    That's the best video of this type i've seen in a long time. Most videos seem to be recorded by people who think we want to see their machine being 'abused' by howling past the redline. This was great to watch!

    Thanks for the memories... I used to have a 1983 RZ350 here in Canada. Definitely one of my favourite bikes!

    That was very enjoyable, thanks! I had the later RD350LCYPVS II which I bought new in 1984 but I think the original 350LC like yours was the one to have. I still had the chance to buy the original 350LC back then but went for a YPVS model instead. A friend upgraded from a 350LC to a new YPVS at the same time and immediately sold it to go back to the original 350LC.

    • @puniths8184
      @puniths8184 Před 7 lety

      Why do people like original 4l0 LC over YPVS?

    • @G0HZU
      @G0HZU Před 7 lety

      Some prefer one over the other. I found that the YPVS was notably more powerful and faster but it didn't have the same feel as the original 350LC. The original bike just felt like a sweeter and purer experience and I think the steering geometry was slightly different making the handling a bit different. I think the YPVS was a better track bike but the LC was a more rewarding road bike to ride. But that's just my opinion. Others will disagree but I was able to ride new or nearly new examples of both bikes back in the 1980s and make a valid comparison. Both are great bikes!

      punith s... The handling is so predictable and the power valve linkage and the valves themselves suck, and the look better ( ypvs clocks? ) I have a 3ma too, Come on.!!!!

    • @G0HZU
      @G0HZU Před 7 lety +1

      Yes, the clocks on the YPVS looked really cheap with brittle plastic and those cheap looking warning lamps. By 10,000 miles my power valve linkages and valves were worn out and the bike lost its edge. The leaky valves would also spit black sooty specks all over the front mudguard and belly pan once the seals went. The handling degraded a lot once the bike had done over 10,000 miles as well. I think the various suspension components developed wear and play and the bike became very twitchy above about 85mph if the road wasn't smooth. But when it was new it was very stable. I think my YPVS was 63bhp and the original LC was just 47bhp so the YPVS was a lot faster. It also had a very optimistic speedo and I think I got mine down around 6 o'clock on the dial a few times. But it wasn't really going this fast!

      @martinclaxton344 Před 6 lety +2

      Asthetically the YPVS is butt ugly compared to the 4LO model. I remember when I first saw the YPVS model I was repulsed. Why Yamaha didn't do brake, fork, suspension, and the YPVS motor in the 4LO frame is beyond me. Improve what was already a great bike, not reinvent it into a visual abomination.
