Salted Rohu popularly known as Superku in Ghana is used in most of Ghanaian local soups, stews, and dips to give an umami flavour and taste. The taste of salted Rohu in soups, dips or stews can be likened to Anchovy fillet incorporated in a dish.

The two way process which is the Curing with the salt and the Drying are great preservation methods which gives the Superku a longer shelf life and this gives you the option to preserve it in the freezer or in a cool dry place.

👉 half a large size of Rohu fish, gutted and scaled

Well-done Cee👍 Sissy, I want to know if it doesn't make food too salty when you prepare a meal with the fish?
It depends on the quantity you take and the amount of food you are adding it in, you always need to balance it. Normally we soak it in salt water before cooking to deminish the salt content or, wash it normally and add it in your fish without adding salt. Again if you use rock salt, it doesn't make the fish too much salted unlike the table salt that you cannot take most off and makes the fish concentrated with salt. . If you noticed, I dug out the fish from the "recycled rock salt". The rock salt also aids in taking off the moisture from the fish; great dehydrator. I hope this helps. Thank you.
