    I have the exact same 2 watches. Love them both. Btw. I love your videos because they aren’t perfect. They’re real. It’s your love for the watches and funny attitude that make the videos fun to watch. Keep up the good work Marc

      I appreciate the enthusiasm and information. But holding the two watches in your hand, which introduces constant movement, is not the best production value. I offer this in a constructive spirit; keep shooting.

    Can you measure the thickness of the cases? I've read the GMT is a little thinner.

      @ryanmiller923 Před 5 lety +2

      From what I can gather: Sub is approximately 0.5mm thicker case than GMT II... that difference is barely perceptible on the wrist.

      @itsallrobbish Před 5 lety +1

      Yep. These are the ones I have. The GMT is slightly thinner. The Batman is only 100m WR. Not a fan of the polished centrelinks. I have mine on a rubber strap. It looks smaller than the Subbie.

    I have the 116710BLNR & the 114060. When I look at them next to each other the dial looks larger on on the Submariner to me. I think it’s the illusion of the smaller numbers on the bezel give the appearance of a thinner bezel to me hence making the dial look larger. However I know both are the same dimensions.

      Which do you like more? I’m trying to choose a daily wearer between the ND and Oyster BLNR.

      @@hazemgiballi I like them both very much but I lean more towards the GMT.

    Hey Marc, thanks for the video. I was really confused about the real difference and to decide witch one to buy. Thanks a lot

    Hey Marc, Great vid. Would love to know if the Submariner bracelet will fix on the Batman GMT.

  • @rodriguezahr

    I think the illusion you’re talking about Mark is caused by the font used on the BLNR bezel compared to the one used on the sub. The big digits make the watch look chunkier and bigger.

    @4liter Před 3 lety

    One thing I don’t think was mentioned, the markers on the sub’s dial are larger. 12 and 6 o’clock seem like an obvious difference to me.
    For the others, if you use the hash marks on either side of the marker (the 4 and 6 for the 5 minute marker for example) as a reference, you can see the GMTs marker falls inside of that boundary.
    Not so on the sub! More marker and less dial also makes the sub appear smaller to the eye.

    Did you measure the thickness? I think the GMT is a little bit slimmer, I could be wrong.

    Look the same size to me. Maybe it’s the way the BLNR bezel markers take up more real estate and so give a larger look overall ?

    Measure the slab sides of the case!! Especially at 9 o’clock. Pretty sure the sub is thinner, though overall a bit thicker with the bubbl(ish) back. This drove me nuts as well until I figured it out. Sub actually has more graceful side slab lines.

    Its the more 'busy' bezel on the GMT that makes it look bigger (IMHO)

    Hey Marc,
    I like the GMT but that’s exactly why I will get an older reference (16710) because my 6’7 wrist looks with the new designed ones like your toothpick. great vids, love your sense of humor.

    If you cloned yourself, and one of you wore a black shirt, and the other wore a blue shirt (or a half black, half blue shirt), the clone in the black shirt would appear slight smaller. The reflection of light on the blue crates the illusion of bigger-ness ;)
    Also, the GMT bezel has more bezel markings with their platinum deposits which reflect light. This also helps create the illusion that it is bigger. More light, more big.

    The fatter numbers on the BLNR make the watch look wider than the sub.

    Neither for me..both have the Panerai/cushion-case wannabe super case...with fat ugly lugs, lack of AR coating on the under side of the sapphire (really poor for so-called tool watches), boring uninspiring solid caseback, simple case finishing, 3135/3186 hacking and rotor issues, super clones from China, lacking bang-for-buck, the "war and peace" like text on the dial, thick hour marker borders (very invicta-like), Cyclops wart (that really only suits the datejust and day dates), etc..

    Hey Mark,
    Greetings from the United Kingdom.
    Great comparison, but a point to note, you keep referring to your Rolex Diver as a Submariner - it’s NOT, it’s a Submariner DATE.
    A subtle nod, but the TRUE Submariner has NO date and is the quintessential great-grand child of the 1953 original...
    ....just saying.
