      the only good stuff from 4000 super are :
      1-4070 non-super price drop hopefully !
      2-4070 ti price drop Questionably !
      3-4070 ti super which replaces a 4080 or brings 4080 non super to the lower market !
      honestly speaking , 4070 12gb is the biggest one since 4060 ti 16 gb is a trash tier GPu and cannot use 12gb in the first place either so we were kinda stuck with 8GB vram or no DLSS.
      if all of these are garbage /overrated then the only choice would be to combine FSR FG + DLSS for non-4000 series or the entire NVIDIA RTX series would be bad anyways and not worth looking into .
      Maybe AMD would surprise us even more with their next gen GPUs or maybe improved FSR upscaling or adding denoisers/filters. YEP . if they managed to improve /solve shimmering and artefacts in their upscaling then Nvidia should : " COOK THIER AI TECHNOLOGY + RTX AND INVESTING IN FARMING COW MILK ". I look forward to the days in which NVIDIA cooks something like : AI for farming COWS.
      RTX-reconstruction looks promising although not at a whooping 70% performance reduction ,most certainly /

  • @OrcCorp
    @OrcCorp Před 5 měsíci +6

    Right. The price is still a problem to most people, even to those of us willing to use extra money for our GPU purchase. This is my first time skipping a generation in 15 years, all due to the asinine pricing.
    I got the 3080 at release with 740€. Sold it last summer for 500€, and got a used Gigabyte 3080 Ti Eagle with 600€ instead (og price 1700€ 2 years earlier). Still had 2 years of warranty left with the registration at Gigabyte website. Ordered the EC360 Gold (14,5W/mK) thermal pad set for it with 31€, and got the memory temps down from 110°C to around 83°C (core temp max 67°C in stress testing). This GPU will run well, and cool, for at least 5-6 years to come, and will hold some value in the second-hand market for another couple of years. That said, the 40 series is nothing but a skip gen for me personally, unless I can get a 4080 at around 600-700€ used in 2024. Then again, we'll get the 50 series out at some point between late 2024 and mid 2025, so the 40 series is an easy skip, unless the 50 series continues the stupidly high pricing. Then I'll just buy a used 4080 or 4080 Super, and won't give any of my money to Nvidia. Might as well buy all my future GPUs from the second-hand market, since the msrp is getting way too high for what these GPUs offer.

  • @HDJess
    @HDJess Před 5 měsíci +20

    I don't expect the 4080S to be priced reasonably at all. If their intention is indeed to put a 2nd best GPU on the market, it's going to be marked up the same as 4090 is. Aka will go for 1.5x the MSRP.

    Not sure I agree with your argument with the pricing of the 4080 Super but I do understand the logic.
    The 4080 has sold *extremely* poorly at $1199. While the 4090 price has shot up - I doubt many of the sorts of people who would want a 4090 would settle for a 4080 Super instead of spending the extra cash. (I'm looking for one to replace my 2080 Ti , but previously the price of the 4080 being close to the 4090 would have sent me to the latter).
    They wont beat the 7900xtx in raster by enougn to justify original msrp even if they use 24gbps gddr6x as well as an overclock on ad103. (notwithstanding amd could maybe drop the 7900xtx and have it tempt 4070 Ti Super buyers at around $849). So I reckon this can be at most $100 more than the 7900xtx street prices , i.e $1049 at most.
    Nvidia launched their Supers for Turing to respond to the 5700/xt which destroyed the 2060/70 in performance and value. The 2080 Super kept the same price point as the 2080 - the 2080 was clearly faster than anyhing Radeon had at the time. This isn't the case this time around...

    Supers look fine on paper, but not enough for me to change my 3080 10gb.
    What most of us want though, it's that 8gb would go from now to 200-250usd cards, 12gb to 300-400gb cards, and starting from 450$-500$ would be great to have 16gb minimum.

    NVIDIA will simply fill the price gaps between the RTX 4070 and 4080 / 4090 GPUs. The prices of existing GPUs will probably not change at all, because there is enough room between RTX 4070Ti and RTX 4080 for instance. This is why we won't get a RTX 4060 Super, because the price gap between RTX 4060Ti and RTX 4070 is soo small and is already occupied by the 16GB Version of the RTX 4060Ti. NVIDIA does not care about price drops or value, because people buy their GPUs anyway.

    The rumors about Super prices seem misleading. Nvidia significantly outsells AMD in the midrange and upper tiers. Why would they decrease prices then? Even 4080 sells OK, while 4070 and 4070 Ti sell pretty well (4070 even became top seller card, according to some retailers, when it got down to $550).
    I mean, potential 4070 Super production costs are similar to vanilla 4070 (as it includes the same 6 2GB GDDR6X chips and AD104 die, just with less disabled cores). But if 4070 Ti Super is based on AD103 and includes more memory chips, then it's production costs will be significantly higer. I do not see how it can be priced at the same $800. And $1000 for 4080 Super sounds too optimistic as well, since it will include faster (selected) GDDR6X modules.
    $650 for 4070 Super, $850-$900 for 4070 Ti Super and $1100-$1200 for 4080 Super. This is what I would expect from Nvidia.
    P. S. If they actually be priced at $600, $800 and $1000, this will mean that profit from each 4000 GPU, sold in 2022-2023, was insane (far bigger than from any older models). 🤑

    If the scalper mentality has taught us (and Nvidia) anything, it is that people WILL pay over the odds, just to get a GPU, this is why cards like the 4080 and 4090 are as expensive as they are, Nvidia KNOWS that people will buy at way more than the MSRP and they have capitalised on this… we have done it to ourselves, therefore I personally think that Nvidia are going to double down on inflated prices… because they can.

    There is no such thing as a scalper only application competitive pricing from demanders. From a card production point of view now passing 60% of full fun production marginal cost per unit has dropped by < 50% from q1 risk production volume and now is 25% under the long run average marginal cost per unit of production. I concur fill in at old price to force existing SKUs down in price. All Nvidia really needed was a real AD 102 4080ti at $1199 and that would have forced the down stack SKUs into their traditional price performance rung albeit still a 103 hybrid, 104/6/7 mobile design generation shoed into desktop form factor. Not an entirely well thought out production regime by not offering true desktop SKUs from the beginning in relation serving the production chains mobile H laptop volume requirement. I am also aware Nvidia has no problem selling AD 102 variants for more than the 4090 FE's original $1599 down SKU regulating price cap. I can see why so said 4080 103 full array Super as the 395 mm2 cost effective component to produce in relation 608 mm2 AD 102. Still if only a true 4080_. The other issue is Super prematurely obsoleting channel capital inventory values albeit Ada has been clearing and displacing a recent end buyer purchase including in PC prebuilt there are far more prebuilt PCs in the channel with Ada lagging sales than top bin cards waiting on the shelf. mb
