As a pot smoker I can promise you that as soon as the fight started his buzz was gone.
Facts
Especially the stuff they smoked back then. It was extremely tame compared to the kind you can buy nowadays
enlisted and fieldgrades know this.
the only people having issues with this are lieutenants, captains, majors, first sergeants, and sergeant majors.
Depends on how high you are. If you're super baked and the adrenaline kicks in, you'll still be high but the herb gives you a laser focus on the action
For sure. I smoke every day b4 work but when it's time to rock it out. Not high anymore guaranteed.
My stepdad had a few stories from his tour of Vietnam. One he told was about getting black out drunk one day in Vietnam and waking up the next day in Cambodia. While he was drunk his unit moved into Cambodia.
A few days later he was awarded a Bronze Star for taking out a machinegun nest single handed. He had to ask other in his unit what it was for. He was so drunk, he charged the nest firing his rifle and throwing grenades, "like something out of a John Wayne movie" per his fellow soldiers.
Murica!!
I recommend looking up his name, there’s a pretty comprehensive list of Bronze Star recipients, you might learn something you never knew about his service.
We didn’t have parties like these. Usually it started the same way but me and Pete would end up in a fistfight and Roy would usually end up vomiting on himself
Stop the cap
Did you kiss him?
As a veteran, I have a question. There are sober combat soldiers?
I’m not a vet, but can’t imagine going through war sober. Got to have some release from that!
Desmond Doss is never able to save anyone due to alcohol and medical drugs (medicines) keep disappearing
I'm a Canadian combat veteran, I never went to a firefight without my little buddy, my one pint flask. After I got my boys situated I could sneak a little nip every now and again. I retired 5 years ago and haven't had a drink since.
@timkeenan7419 fantastic that you don't drink anymore. I've known enough veterans to know that it goes the other way far too often. Happy retirement!
Thank you for your service and for making that point.

as an iraq/afghanistan veteran that smokes a lot of weed that guy is literally my fucking hero now
In one hand while you high or drunk you could fight to your optimal limit but in the other hand you could also fight like Austrians who lost a retreating battle against themselves while also drunk.
It really depends on how high or drunk you are aswell. If you have a good buzz on it's easy to sober up when the adrenaline kicks in, but if you're plastered then good luck. Same with weed
I bet when the first bullet flies at you you don’t feel none of it sober up 100% I’m sure but when the adrenaline wears off
@@Gameprojordan this delusion is why folk drink/drug drive. Adrenaline does not sober you up, it makes you feel energetic and stimulated, but a cognitive test would still show reduced hand-eye coordination, slower reaction time, etc, all while the subject would be reporting "feeling sober"

Some fellow vets I know are still battling meth addiction from being given amphetamines in Vietnam. They were issued big bottles of speed each month and getting a new bottle because someone “lost” theirs was a common occurrence. When they got back to the states they would either keep up with the amphetamines or move onto meth. The fact that they were treated like filth when they got home didn’t help at all either.

GET THEM YOU BLEEDING IDIOTS
It’s a small thing, but at the 12:00 mark you make a comparison between adrenaline and methamphetamines. You said unlike adrenaline, methamphetamines don’t affect blood pressure and that is incorrect and potentially very dangerous misinformation.
It should read:
“Adrenaline is short lived and quickly metabolized causing short but high spikes in blood pressure. By contrast, amphetamines and methamphetamines cause a less severe increase in blood pressure while activating the same neurological receptors and is metabolized more slowly.“
It’s not a big mistake. But it’s a small one with the potential to cause an oversized amount of harm.
I don’t think anyone who’s planning on doing meth is watching this video
@Sniperboy5551 That's probably true, but meds like Samexid(adhd medicine) are derivated from amphetamine. That's why I can't have energy drinks or more than 2 cups of coffee while on Samexid. If I do I run a very high risk of tachycardia, arrhythmia and even a full blown heart attack

By the way that fin soldier didn't intentionally take the whole supply of pervatin the pills had melted together as one because of his body heat and he just ate the whole lump of what was a pill and then he tripped mega WW2 balls and when they found him he was like 20 lbs lighter, dehydrated, starving and probably so confused it felt like he was dreaming for 2 weeks
Yea, I have a theory that he wasn’t consciously making decisions anymore. His brain saw skis, so it decided to ski. I don’t believe he used his gun at all the whole time, but at the point he was at, he probably would have thought a rifle was just a stick. He was completely blacked out for most of it I believe lol

Meth wasn't new in the 1930's. It had been around since the 1890's. Germany did make it in to a pill form though.
All this and it was the Japanese that created it in the 1880’s with the synthesis of ephedrine. Then I’m 1885 Nagayoshi Nagai isolated the herb that the Chinese herb ma haung, that the Chinese used for thousands of years as a stimulant. And in 1893 a similar substance was synthesized in a lab and methamphetamine was born.
Japan didnt create it. They created the precursors. Germany did
Yeah Germany will not be living this down... it's one thing to make a drug but a different thing to implement it into your military tactics.
It is said that on that day, whilst most of the troops were on maybe one marijuana, Sgt. Lemon had taken at least 3, and maybe even 4, marijuanas.
how does the story about that finish soldier get more insane every single time I hear it? I swear every single time I hear it a new detail is added that makes it even more insane.
Pvt Bill Speakman, VC, Korean War. Threw beer bottles at enemy when ran out of ammo.
That's fucking gold
Kind of a funny story from where I'm from. During the War of 1812; the first siege of Ft. Meigs. The fort wasn't complete when the British laid siege to the fort. To get the soldiers to finish building the ramparts, the for commander, General Harrison, authorized extra rations of rum to get the soldiers to continue working while being shelled. Guess it really is liquid courage.

They grow some of the best in Asia and turn it into hash .It was good stuff , not reggie brick from Mexico. My dad stayed high in Vietnam. Edit also thousands of soldiers became junkies shooting heroin in Vietnam.
Alcohol is safe in moderation but not so much in excess.
@@KnOnHeavensDoor my uncle also smoked weed and hash in Nam, and continued doing so when he got home, right up until he passed away in his 80’s. From what I heard, he paid for the downpayment on his house by smuggling dope home from Nam when his tour was over. Of course, this was the mid to late ‘60s, before the CIA realized they could get rich doing the same.

The 1911 replacing the m1892 as mentioned is incorrect. It was replaced by the colt 1909 new service. Simple history researcher was asleep on that one.
It was probably easier to gloss over that fact than say they used the M1909 for 2 years until the adoption of the M1911. A layperson might also be unaware of other firearms like the M1941 Johnson Rifle or even the M14's service in Vietnam. Some might say you're technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.

Not to be pedantic but, methamphetamine was synthesized from ephedrine in 1893 by Japanese chemist Nagai Nagayoshi. Three decades later, in 1919, methamphetamine hydrochloride was synthesized by pharmacologist Akira Ogata via reduction of ephedrine using red phosphorus and iodine.
Before that they used cocaine.

I tried many stuff in my life in many diff situations, but 1 thing is for sure, once a fight for your life starts all the buzz goes away, all you get is a high focus on whatever you are doing, you get shot you feel a cold burn, but the pain is numbed so you keep going till the body collapse, but theres nothing the brain can do to make you stop, all pain inducers are numbed and you keep pushing.
